Are paladins supposed to be bad? I play as a paladin but haven't played other tank classes. but I always hear people saying bad things about that class.

paladin does the least single-target and multi-target DPS of all three tanks, and its mitigation is also heavily skewed to the physical side. It's fine for all relevant fights though.

If you notice almost all those keys are set to just go straight down the board, with keeping most cooldowns being kept on the second bar. It's not really that big of a deal.

Well for starters, he is a DRK with Sprint bound to a keybind. Being a DRK, I would know that there are not enough keybinds available to bind every single ability I want. That means you have to bind the abilities and items that matter and leave out the rest on a click bar for situational uses only.

That DRK has Sprint keybinded, so I can safely assume something important is not keybound.

But it's still 12345 from the looks of it, the only thing throwing it out would be whether or not you get F&C or WT which in all honesty if you have muscle memory, that wouldn't be an issue. Considering DRG's rotation hasn't really changed in HW from just going 12345, this looks pretty standard.

Check what is keybound and what is not. If you can't see whats wrong, then you shouldn't be part of the conversation.

I'm not whoever that was, but the real tragedy here is that every bar has its own modifier, i see ctrl for the second one and shift for the third.

I don't know why this kind of binding is so prevalent in xiv when its much easier to reuse the same basic 1-0 binds for every bar, and then use shift+number to toggle between hotbars so only one is active at a time.

It's hugely inefficient giving every row a unique modifier, because if you use 4 bars, that means you're using unergonomic 2-button combinations for 75% of your skills, and you're also using 4x the keybinds I am, and complaining about hotbar bloat when i am not.

Why bother? If HW is any indication, they'll be throwing 270+ gear at you after your first quest in SB. You'll be at HW's level cap within an afternoon, no effort required.

equivalent would be 250. level 52 quest gear is 130ish

Regardless of what level the gear ends up being, my point was it won't matter in the end.

If you have fun, by all means, but don't punish yourself by grinding for gear when you won't need it.

You bind things logically so you're not flipping back and forth literally every gcd. Once per.. 3-4 gcds on average, hardly difficult. Bread and butter stuff on 1, minor upkeep and buffs on 2, rarely used shit like pvp abilities on 3, etc.

It's not pressing 3 buttons either, you're not thinking about things sequentially. Its pressing 2 buttons during the downtime between GCDs to prime the correct bar (huh, who knew the long ass 2.5s gcd actually had an upside), and then when the time comes to actually execute the skill, you only press 1 button no matter what the skill since you can afford to have good keybinds for everything.

You guys should be jumping at this honestly, considering how defensive the community is over the 'slow' 2.5s gcd. This not only solves all your hotbar bloat problems, it takes more APM to use. It should be easy for you guys since apparently everyone on the internet is a 99percentile fflogs toughguy.

SMN doesn't work on a rotation. It's entirely priority based.

Always start a fight with 3 Aetherflow stacks read and idealy Aetherflow off CD
Make sure your pet is hitting the right target
keep 100% uptime on dots (including shadow flare)
If you're over 50% MP (or whatever you're comfortable as), Ruin3 until you're under the threshhold
Line up Aethertrail stacks with Aetherflow's cooldown so you go into trance with 3 stacks ready

For aoe, you want to contagion + bane > painflare > painflare or bane > painflare > bane. The goal is for your dots to continue ticking through your trance.

For dungeons, only ever use 3 aetherflow stacks per trash pack. Holding Trail stacks between packs is more trouble than its worth.

Same with the alex normal gear.
