What android unity game is this?

No Death no buy.

This would be fine if it was a test level for the movement/jumping but I have a feeling that it isn't.

Jesus H

Not really.

Curse you, scam man.

No shit Sherlock. It won't even be bad, just so horribly unremarkable it won't leave an impression at all.

IGA clearly knows what he's doing based on his past games. What the fuck happened to have him fall so far?

Looks really stiff.

This might be good or bad:

Bad: It's just stiff as fuck and makes the game not fluid.

Good: Makes it so the controls are actually responsive. Can dodge and move with good accuracy.

Maybe if they fixed up the animations a bit with some physics it might look nicer.

It is. They're testing some systems to create procedural details here and there to focus on other stuff. I really WANT this game to be good

What happened to Mighty Nosferatu Starring Mitch Backtrack?

>IGA clearly knows what he's doing based on his past games. What the fuck happened to have him fall so far?

Inti-Creates are making the game, and they're making it in Unreal and 3D. Inti-Creates are bad at both.

The idea is that you cant' do low res 2D for a "real" game now, so they have to go HD, which means 3D.

So is this game like a mix between Order of Ecclesia and the Sorrow games?

Oh, that explains it.

I dont know why developers insist on Unreal.

Expanding from what they've showed on the demo, the final product can't be much worse (and surely much better than Mighty NÂș 9)

It's because of Unity obviously. Look at all that Unity-ness that it exudes. How the character movement is Unity-esque.

Unity

It would be so much better if it was made in UE4. The movement would be amazing and the graphics would be better and everything would be overall better because that's how game engines work right?

Isnt this from like a 6 month old or someshit build?
Has there been any update on it?

why can't we have a sprite based "castlevania" instead of this gross looking floaty garbage

It's more straight-up Sorrow.

There's some indie attempts.

youtube.com/watch?v=vogtaEmOa0w

Aren't all the metroidvania styled games except circle of the moon kind of floaty?

It is made on Unreal Engine user, I could confirm this by the file structure (oh, and the fucking icon on the demo...)

Wow what a horrible looking game. It looks like an indie project. Like something a computer science student in college would make. A completely uninspired mess.

Why dont they just use 2d sprites? They've already made it very clear that they're incapable of making a good looking 3d side scroller.

If it was Unreal it would be better user. Unreal automatically makes things better. Haven't you seen all the complaining on here about it?

>Why dont they just use 2d sprites?

The move to Hd really ruined low res 2D. Most people feel it's "cheap" or old. They want HD 2D. But that means drawn shit, which itself look bad and takes time. 3D is a compromize.

2D sprites takes much more time to create and animate than 3D models

>2D sprites takes much more time to create and animate than 3D models

This is completely wrong. Why do idiots keep persisting this myth?

I didnt realize that. If this is what 3d side scrollers look like then im out. This looks so shitty. Im well aware that i probably couldnt even make what they have so far, but it still looks really really bad.

Yeah, that's why Super Castlevania cost 60 million dollars to make.

Oh wait.

>it's another female protagonist meme game
I'll pass

Wether hes right or wrong, it still looks bad. I wont buy it because of the way it looks. If it takes longer to model 2d maybe thats why it looks so good and this looks like shit?

It's true, you can animate a 3D model much faster than you can make sprites to create the same animation

Hand drawing sprites that don't look like shit, and animating them fluidly to maintain 60fps takes far more effort than animating a 3D model.

Why not HD and 2D? Like Skullgirls and the newer Rayman games

How much sprites you can see in Super Castlevania animations ?
Oh wait.

...

Okay, if 3D was so much faster/cheaper, why aren't all indies and low budget games using 3D? Why are they still using 2D?

2D games don't have fluid 60 frames of animation. They're not fighting games. Enemies can have very few frames of animation and they re-use them constantly.

3D looks easier on the surface, but it's about 10 times more time consuming in practice. It's easier to animate, but the trade offs are immense.

>Okay, if 3D was so much faster/cheaper, why aren't all indies and low budget games using 3D? Why are they still using 2D?

Because there's a certain point where using 3D becomes cheaper? It's not rocket science.

Most indie games have shitty pixel art. Which is easier than making 3D models.

>3D not 2D

>Inti-Creates

They made Megaman Zero right? I remember nothing of the levels but bosses were fun.

You got some points, but what said it's true. Also, most indie dev's use simple 2D pixel shit (with too few animation frames) just for being lazy and "muh nostalgia"

What are the best examples of good indie pixel art? Can only think of Owlboy off the top of my head, but I heard that took like 8 years to make.

Eitr looks good

because low budget indie games don't have pixel art, they have pixel shit.

something on the quality of your gif there would not and is not possible in an indie game and that's honestly a lower end product these days.

A lot of the Casltevania games still look good to this day. That art style and character design are horrendous.

...

what happened to it looking like this? that webm looks atrocious

That's concept art.

whoops thx for money anyways tho

The gameplay demo on the ship looks decent enough though.

This, and was fun. Visuals will get a little better, but the gameplay it's enough for me to buy it

Alright Sup Forums, what's the reasoning this time for me playing as a mini-skirt wearing female protagonist slut?

There was a reason last time?

Have you been outside and seen how women actually dress? This game's character is pretty modestly dressed compared to some of the shit I've seen. You could argue that she wouldn't dress this way if doing what she's doing in the game but video games don't have to be realistic.

No, but I feel bad for Ada Wong. Wearing high heels for her mission in Spain would not be fun. Wearing high heels is never fun.

The demo felt exactly like every other castlevania I enjoyed. I'm looking forward to Bloodstained. My only complaint was that some platforms were a bitch to see. That is why in the platforms stand out so much against the backgrounds - because the alternative is you not knowing where you can actually stand and running straight past pathways as a result.

Japan has literally zero artistic integrity

Serious question, not memeing, I'm actually trying to discuss this - Would the game Mount and Blade be better or worse if one of the factions you could play as were cyborg ninja schoolgirl sex-bots?

That's the point I'm trying to make here. No, video games do not need to be realistic but why can't there be an effort for a little bit of realism/immersion? Maybe I think about things in a different way than you and others but you don't find it ridiculous to be slaying monsters in lingerie?

Why not just full-blown comedy then and make God Hand 2? Every game does not need to be 100% realistic seriousness but I would never get into the story or character of something this ridiculous.

>if one of the factions you could play as were cyborg ninja schoolgirl sex-bots?
Depends on how ridiculous the other factions are.

>realism/immersion

I don't typically want either one of those things in my video games.

>you don't find it ridiculous to be slaying monsters in lingerie?

Why is that so ridiculous when there are is a human overpowering monsters in the first place?

>I would never get into the story or character of something this ridiculous

Then enjoy the game for the gameplay?

I hope the protagonist gets some Paizuri porn.

>I don't want realism or immersion in my games
>Why can't I be in lingerie slaying giant monsters
>You should suspend your disbelief and ignore the bad character design and pay for this game

Honestly it sounds like you would just be happy with the latest Super Mario. Are you?

Owlboy uses shitty tweening. I wouldn't call it good personally.

looks like shes jumping around on a cardboard set

doesn't look that bad honestly

the transition to 3D combined with a lower budget wasn't kind but it still seems like a typical Igavania at its core
I mean even those animations are reminiscent of SoTN

None of his games were rehashes except for the sorrow games.
Every other one felt entirely different from the last. The only thing the reused was sprites since Konami didn't give Iga a budget

No, not really. I have been having a motherfucking blast playing Earth Defense Force though. And fuck you if you think ANY of the castlevania games have been realistic. Playing as a mother fucking pumpkin midget in Lament of Innocence was the coolest shit and you won't be able to convince me otherwise.

Story, gear, enemy, and world design are supposed to be like ecclesia.
Combat is sorrow

How does Inti keep getting work? Their level design and art style is always generic shit

>the transition to 3D combined with a lower budget

The budget is like three times that of Symphony. You could fund 3 metroidvanias on the gba or nds for this.

Maybe because they're cheap ?

"It's an old build"

That's what people always say about these kickstarter games. It's what was said about MN9 too, and that game looked just as shit the day it came out as it did in some of the earliest footage.

...

They're cheap mercenaries. That's it.

It looked worse than the test footage.

>most people don't know Iga is the founder/ceo of Artplay

He's a businessman.

Because on average, they make good games.

If you're pixel art is shitt, er sorry, "retro" enough, and looks like a flashy Atari game then yes it is easier and cheaper than 3D.

Doing a big budget hand drawn 2D game up to today's visual standards would require much more time and effort and money than 3D. You can't re-use pretty much any assets, you have to create new animations by hand for every single thing. With 3D shit you can just reuse animations similar objects (human facial animations, etc.)

2.5D was a mistake.

But he's also an actual developer. Inafune has never been a dev.

I remember people thinking MN9 was actually going to look like this

Fuck you.

>this credit stealing businessman producer is totally different than the other credit stealing businessman producer

trine disagrees with you

Reminder that Order of Ecclessia cost 500,000 dollars.

Is this a new h-act game?

It looks like complete ass. Is kickstarter the worst thing that has happend to games?

Inafune wasn't a producer until megaman 8 though

The demo was good. Everything shown so far except for the area in the OP looks fine.

Touche

Trine is BEATIFUL, and that's it. It's a simple plataform game, nothing really worth the effort put on creating it. To me, it's more a visual showcase than a real game
> opinions

>Doing a big budget hand drawn 2D game up to today's visual standards would require much more time and effort and money than 3D.
Ever heard of a little game called "Shovel Knight"?
You don't need to do super HD 2D sprites. Low-res is perfectly fine.

Same with klonoa

Only to people vulnerable to nostalgia and who actually lose money on these scams.

The sensible among us don't blow money on kickstarter, so it's existence isn't that bad. And we just wait to see if the game is actually good.

And, more than likely, that means you haven't bought any kickstarter games.

>Iga wasn't a producer until Harmony of Dissonance

DLC, DRM and early-access are not good as well

post yfw you didn't back Bloodstained

He didn't even answer the question. What a fag
