That looks like shit bro.

Looks like an early PS1 animatic.

if you really think that, when games eventually look this good, you arent allowed to play them

This is basic, awful, 90's CGI rendering using procedural generated textures. I could do that scene in 30 minutes with Lightwave.
ugly asf

Nigga you blind? That straight up looks like Reboot.

Are you saying reboot doesn't look good?

>thinking rebbot looks bad

Looks bad bro.

that legit looks awful

wow that's bad
cgi shows in the 90s were a mistake

love the a e s t h e t i c

and it still has more texture detail than the new zelda

god i hated this fucking show. it was uncomfortable to look at.

no

those chairs say otherwise

lel fucking blind bro. take off those goggles.

they were able to sit in them back then too.

>this looks bad

>graphics still haven't caught up to this simpsons episode

that background looks like pyongyang

ITT: people who dont understand the difference between pre render and live render

>ITT everybody hates reboot
>probably watches RWBY anyway when it looks worse

They're pretty much equal in quality these days. A mid range gaming pc could run a game that looks exactly like a pixar movie, if only there were talented artists working in the game industry who were capable of designing it.

>a mid range gaming PC could run a game that looks exactly like a pixar movie

good someone call up pixar and tell them they are waisting million of dollars on equipment and power and months of time rendering frame by frame for something they could so in he length of time it takes to watch the movie on 600 dollars worth of hardware and minimal power usage

>A mid range gaming pc could run a game that looks exactly like a pixar movie
Nigga are you retarded?

>A mid range gaming pc can pathtrace in realtime

Nigga, go see a modern Pixar movie

N64 era Mario official art will never stop being creepy in a way

>I have no idea how rendering works: the post.

Please enlighten me on how something like vray, which is the most efficient engine next to maybe Houdini, and requires 500+ networked *xeon* based server racks to meet a standard production timeline. Is as bad the shitshow that is a game engine like unreal 4. which will never pass paragon in terms of visuals. Game engines cannot compete with algorithmic render engines.

That looks like it wasn't designed to look cohesive in the slightest.

a e s t h e t i c

modern games arent even close to a 5 year old pixr movie

still looks better than yooka laylee

Even though Disney owns Pixar, I thought their CGI animation studios were not merged.

I hated 3D back in the '90s.

The only thing that did it right for me was The Incredible Crash Dummies because it looked just like the toys.

that looks like dog shit, family.

Oddssy looks better.

He said "looks like", not "uses the same rendering tecniques". And he's right.

It won't look exactly the same, but shit like pic related looks close to and about as good as CGI animated films from like 4-5 years ago.

anyone remember the reboot ps1 game commercial? scared the fuckin SHIT outta me.

forgot file

the only thing holding us back from this is real time raytracing and infinite light/shadow sources

nigga, you blind

Kids these days don't know how hype DKC and other 3D games were. I played the fuck out of our NES and jumping to 3D in retrospect was a big thing.

Metal Mario would look better with a flat metal finish instead of trying to make him chrome and having reflections that don't even come close to working,

She doesn't look bad but they weren't able to animate her face until like the last episode.

I feel like our generation was lucky to have even experienced each jump in progression up to the 6th gen. I don't think video games will ever see those sorts of things happen again.

>same buildings copy + pasted in the BG
>simple, life-less texture and models in foreground
sonyfags are easily fooled

>will we ever get a Mario Game that looks this good?
We could, but to answer that, we need to talk about parallel universes.

3D World, dummy.

>DELET THIS
muh childhood show mang

the big technological leaps going forward will have less to do with graphical fidelity and more to do with personalisation and virtual reality.

Search engines being replaced with predictive design. Being able to give you exactly what you want before you even search for it and what that will be like translating that to games.

And of course, cool tech like VR, AR and flexible OLED screens.

There's a lot to look forward to.

>souless, bland NSMB cancer

Woolie pls.

Completely agreed. NES -> SNES -> N64 was pretty nuts as a kid.
I'm not gonna complain too much though. As long as every once in a while I get an open world racer with better graphics than the ones before it, I'm somewhat happy.

I'd wish for a Mario game to have this golden era look to it. It has that fresh 1990s style that hasn't been around since 1999.

Everything modern Nintendo has made is over the top happy and fake and cringy
Like Disney but worse.

I'd kill for a game like this

Smoke and mirrors, OP. Just because there's a bunch of reflections and that it has that signature URE lighting doesn't mean it looks good.

we're in the wrong timeline

When Nintendo decides that hardware can matter. Or their non-Japanese audiences. Or Metroid.

They were just a perfect duo and hits the right balance between cute and adventurous.

Makes me wonder what Rare would've done with those other DKR-animals (Conker and any DK's aside) had their plans for them gone through.

I think we will, VR will necessitate it. The leap won't be in regards to model quality or texture resolution, it'll be in regards to lighting and material effects and how the actual in game cameras work.

No matter how photorealistic a 3d environment is, if you look around it in a game or even with VR now, it's still not like your real life vision. I'd be willing to bet future graphical leaps will be bridging THAT gap rather them anything to do with the game assets themselves.

Not trying to back up his retarded post, but we are getting close.

I was just listening to this
youtube.com/watch?v=EHEaNNa7M_M

Because the other thread

We are indeed in the wrong timeline, I told you I believe so too

A penny for your thoughts doctor :^)

It's actually quite technologically possible for a game to be made to look like that.

It'd look like shit tho, since the pic looks like shit.

...

JUST APPLY ANY TEXTURE AT TO SURFACES RANDOM SENPAI

Five Nights at Freddy's kinda has a similar style. Prerendered.

>BENIS 69
Okay that got me

>4k resolution requires a 4k display
nice to see how aware they are of their target audience

true 3D / VR will be our big jump

might be the last one, if you think about it

Here have another.

I feel like the jump from 6th to 7th gen was pretty significant as well, although not nearly to the extent as some other jumps. Poly count in particular made huge jumps between 6th and 7th.

The fog being that close kills it.

This is going to be the problem with consoles moving to 4k.
Sure the resolution will look super sharp and you'll find details you couldn't see at 1080p, but there's no increase in texture resolution, level of detail, poly count, lighting, etc. 4k is such a hard resolution to push, graphics are going to stagnate harder than they already have been.

>comparing early seasons to later seasons

>Mario will never be made in unity

Thank God

FNAF has great aesthetic, youtuber memes aside.

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
Go, Sony has been playing retards like you for fools since 1994 with its "Just like Toy Story!" commercials with each generation.
