Unless the localization effort for FGO suddenly gives it a huge boost in the west, it doesn't seem very likely. But you never know.

Like, Snake's inclusion had nothing to do with the Twin Snakes remake on GCN. MGS2, MSG3 and MSG4 were the primary influence for the character and stage designs, and they weren't on Nintendo consoles during the time Brawl was in development. Cloud has even less to do with Nintendo and has only made minor cameo appearances in shit like Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and Theatrhythm.

I'd argue the only line he's probably not willing to cross is including characters that are downright owned by Nintendo's competitors. Characters like Master Chief, Kratos, Banjo & Kazooie, Spike, etc

There's no such thing as "second party", that's an informal term.

Characters like Snake and Cloud are owned by third party companies. Characters like Banjo and Master Chief are owned by first party competitors to Nintendo, which is why they're probably not eligible for Smash Bros.

I'm going to assume you're running on second-hand information. I was lucky enough to talk to him about this at Reitaisai circa the Ufotable affair and he basically said he has no qualms with doujin circles doing what they like because it's kind of part of the ethos of the market. He still wasn't hugely comfortable with it, but didn't want to make a fuss. Obviously anything outside of the doujin market was out of his comfort zone. This was before he lost the case against the douchebag who got trademark rights to Touhou and the western publication of fangames, so I'm sure his approach to the matter has changed a lot since then.

I'm interested in it more than the PS4 version since that released against a real OF Musou game so I ignored it and the Switch version comes with the DLC packed in (I think).

Yes. They've not had reprints in years, but you can still get them on amazon.jp and the like. Obviously specialists like Toranoana and Melon Books are a given.
Tsuki is almost impossible to come by though, since it was a doujin printing there were barely any copies in comparison. Last I saw there was one copy of Tsukibako in the whole of Akiba going for 6-digit prices.

I have no idea how the publication of the fangames in the west works, no. They have Team Shanghai Alice listed under all the legal blurb, though, so presumably ZUN did allow it.

The Vita version sold 130k and the PS4 version sold 160k which is a combined total of 290k, not awful since I don't think the budget was that much.

A good 70%-80% of the sales were Japanese though, so if Nintendo plays their cards right, they might be able to pull a Monster Hunter and sell a ton in the West if they market it enough.

The Vita version runs relatively well, so I'd imagine the Switch version being fine since the Switch has more power to work with.

The game works pretty well on the Vita, I see no reason why it shouldn't work as well on the Switch. As underpowered as it might be, its a pretty damn strong handheld.

The real question is if there is anything else being added to the Switch version. I already have it on PS4. I loved the game to bits and all, but I'm not going to play it all over again unless there is something worth my while.
