Hunts for targets that are way more powerful than your party should be able to handle.

His actual design is fine, it's his place in the story that's pretty cringey. If they hadn't pussied out and kept Balthier or Basche as the main character then it would have been way better and we'd have more room for more interesting MCs. The pirate king guy or the guy from Rosaria would have been fucking dope.

In the original FFXII, the most powerful weapon in the game (The Zodiac Spear) was impossible to obtain if the player opened certain unmarked treasure chests spread throughout the map.
Autistic fun-hating fans DESPISED this, so in the IZJS version (the one we're getting in HD), the misanthropists at square got rid of the chest requirement, but made an even more powerful weapon (the Seitengrat Bow) with an even more bullshit method of obtaining it (1:3000 drop rate in an unmarked chest near the beginning of the game.)

you can't open some specific chests in the game or you will never get the Zodiac Spear, one of the best weapon in the game, the only one that can combo a few 9999 hits iirc

there are two chest with the spear, people just fixated on the optional one that they never found out about the real chest.
the original chest is found right before Zodiark, in a very late game area. no strings attached. it's treated like every other legendary weapon in a chest.
the second, optional chest, allows you to get the spear within 6 hours of the game. And is there only if you know how to get it and want to break the game.
this is hardly a fiasco and affects very little
