Which makes more sense?
Which makes more sense?
"Press the a button," sounds sort of clumsy, so I choose the PlayStation layout.
"press the fork button"
yeah that sounds so much better, retard
>semi-random letters
vs
>button 1, 2, 3, 4 (using number of lines)
I'd say the pizza, fork, pyramid, and pizzabox makes the most sense
what's a fork button
Doesn't matter at all.
press x on both and then the wii u to find out
Playstation obviously.
>1 line, 2 lines, 3 lines, 4 lines
vs
>1st letter, 2nd letter, 24th letter, 25th letter
PLAYSTATION
PLAYSTATION BUTTONS ARE UNIQUE
THERE ARE NO OTHER CONTROLLERS WITH SQUARE, TRIANGLE, CIRCLE AND EKX
SO LIKE IF SOMEBODY PLAYS ON NINTENDOS AND THEN GOES TO XBOX HE WILL BE CONFUSED WHEN SOMEBODY SAYS PRESS A HAHA
THAT IS YET ANOTHER REASON WHY THE PLAYSTATION NATION IS THE BEST
"Press the x button"
yeah the difference is exponential
Both are fine
I just wish Microsoft put xy on the bottom because press the x button is confusing when you change system
...
It doesn't matter, they have to have their own distinctive set up. If Anything Microsoft should've picked something more unique since Nintendo already uses roman letters.
This, the only thing that matters is your preference of the physical part of the controller
Triangle = menu (pop up)
Square = map (shape)
Circle = confirm (shorthand)
Cross = cancel (shorthand)
Playstation's convention is infinitely more intuitive and aesthetic to boot.
I've been using a PS3/PS4 controller for PC shit for years now and A/B/X/Y and circle/square/triangle/cross has become synonymous.
Who cares?
Both. But I like the PS design more. It just looks better.
>Two of the buttons are the first two letters of the alphabet
>the other two are the 3rd from last and second from last letters.
WTF Msoft, why the fuck wouldnt you go with Y and Z buttons instead?
Playstation buttons are much better. the amount of sides of the symbols go in numerical order
O - 1
X- 2
Triangle - 3
Square - 4.
Much easier for my OCD addled brain to feel comfortable with. If only theyd switched the positions of the triangle and square though.
>Press the square button!
They then proceed to search their controller for a fucking square button but they are all round.
Neither.
>intuitive
Only if you're a nip who understands that circle is what other countries would use a check mark for.
PlayStation for me since Nintendo was already using ABXY. Would have been nice if Microsoft had come up with something unique. I liked the Black and White buttons on the OG xbox.
PS will always be better because symbols are universal. Good design is timeless
PRESS THE CHINESE BUTTON NIGGA
I prefer letters to shapes. I hate that the xbox pad uses the Nintendo style layout but reverses A/B and X/Y buttons though.
...
>circle
>line
virgin
NIGGA tāmen suǒyǒu zhòng guó rén
>be microsoft
>reverse nintendos buttons
>fuck with me FOREVER in rhythm games and other shit
might be a little thing but I'll never use xbone cause of it.
ABXY makes more sense because they're each one syllable and people think more immediately in language than in shapes
Fuck off back to Japan you fucking piece of shit. X is confirm. Cicle is cancel. Deal with it fucking faggot
>circle = confirm
but... it's the cancel button
X is treasure, Circle is spyglass you landlubber.
ab/xy only made sense on genesis/saturn where we had abc/xyz.
playstation buttons never made sense, and circle was even the main button in japan.
Which ever you're more comfortable with.
The true answer is being versatile and able to adapt to either
Its like he didn't even know square was treasure map and triangle is shovel either
this, i prefer the xbox ones tho because the colors are more vibrant and easier to read at a glance
I prefer the universality of the ps buttons, they make more sense and are a better design.
But when it comes to personal use I don't mind either, I'm used to both and never get confused by button prompts in games.
This. ABCXYZ.
I wish 6 face button controllers were the standard.
*holds up spork*
Microsoft copied the Dreamcast controller's layout, which was just the Saturn's layout with C and Z chopped off.
They both have the same exact functionality. If you cant change between them quickly then you have severe aspergers
>circle was meant to be the confirm button
>X was meant to be the cancel button
>roles were reversed in western PS Games, because red is somehow """""negative"""""
>triangle not the crows nest
How is he supposed to use the spyglass to see shit with a shovel?
Nether, now shut the fuck up.
neither, the only reason they look like that is because they didn't want it to look like they took the entire thing from nintendo. but really, what makes more sense: making useless bait threads so we can incite arguments over nothing or making threads about stuff we actually like and want to discuss?
They're not random letters at all. In engineering, A is primary, B is secondary, X is tertiary and Y is quaternary.
>what is accounting
The bottom button is the easiest to reach, so it should be the confirm button.
The right button is the most awkward to reach, so it should be the cancel button.
How many accountants play video games?
yes. lines dont have to be straight. 1 single line can make a circle.
what the fuck? maybe I'm a bit biased because I grew up with sony and nintendo but what the hell was microsoft thinking? why is the A button at the bottom? I could probably get used to it but I'll probably avoid xbox controllers because of that
"in the red"
but for you, "in the reddit"
I don't know, but I'll forveer hate Microsoft for inverting A & B from the old Nintendo standard.
What's the deal with PlayStation and Xs?
The bit of retardation with PSX vs. PS1 or the PS2 w/ DVR and the six o'clock button being X, Cross, or Fork.
AB/XY is quicker and easier to type and pronounce when discussing buttons.
And the X is actually an X and not a Cross or Fork for retards to argue about.
Sony officially calls it a cross. Checkmate.
might as well bring back numpads like the Atari 5200
yeah but no sane person actually says "Press cross to jump!"
>reddit
Stop projecting, user
Right makes more sense on an objective level. Simpler shapes and cross-culture. The softer pastel colors go with more game's color schemes too, and fit in more nicely.
>And the X is actually an X and not a Cross or Fork for retards to argue about.
It's an X on Playstation, too. The Playstation controller has two letters and two shapes. X and O are letters, Square and Triangle are shapes.
Probably by filtering namefag scum
you're unironically a redditor though
A - Accept
B - Back
X/Y - Standard sub button labels
Xbox fixed nintendos layout
Cross, Circle, Square and Triangle are all geometric shapes. It's perfectly consistent.
In Japan everyone calls it Cross.
Playstation icons are the best because they're the most recognizable and basic shapes that we as humans know.
ABXY sucks because it belongs to both nintendo and MS which basically means that I can never remember which button is where, especially the X and Y buttons.
gamecube master race fags
>Press the "ECKS" button to start
>reaction images are Reddit
Left stick above or at the same level as the right stick, though. That's the real question.
It's not PSX. PSX was a codename used in development, just how Windows Vista was called "Windows Longhorn", but no one with an IQ above 80 calls it Longhorn now. On release it was called the Playstation. That's what everyone called it, including Sony, which is all that matters ultimately. It was either PS or Playstation, there was never an X after the development cycle finished. After PS2 became a thing, people stopped calling it PlayStation and started calling it PS1.
PSX faggots are literally using a fucking outdated codename. They're so fucking stupid. There's no debate here, PSX is actually very much factually wrong, yes kid that means even if you once held a magazine that had the wrong name for the console on its cover, it's still literally incorrect.
>pyramid
It's a pizza slice dumbass.
>namefag
You just learn that word kid? This here is a trip
For me totally playstation but it might be because I spent my childhood with ps1 and ps2
>It's a pizza slice dumbass.
You bake square pizzas and then cut them into quarters? What the actual fuck, dude
Here in the rest of the world we either bake square pizzas and cut them into square pieces or round pizzas and cut them into sixths or eights
Having two letters and two shapes is consistent, too. It makes sense to group the two primary and two secondary buttons together like that, just like how the Super Nintendo controller had different colors for A/B and X/Y (pic related).
>playstation buttons never made sense
What about them doesn't make sense?
I call it PSX just to piss people like you off, normal people still know what I'm referring too and it makes you that much angrier.
...
Square pizza is the most efficient shape for modern ovens which have long moved away from the round clay ovens used to bake traditional breads and pizzas.
Playstation since they do have a reason of why they are like that (Square is for menu, X is for cancel, etc.)
No idea why Xbox has ABXY
Triangle was actually suppose to be the viewport button.
It's the shape of a view cone. (Think a frustrum without the cutout)
>Press the AYY button to start
>MFW some filtered tripfag has a bunch of hidden posts in this thread and is probably desperately trying to get attention
>MFW I don't have to see this literal faggot's posts ever again and he literally cannot do anything about me having filters because even if he changes it I'll just filter it again
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA
Yes, for snacking.
Surprising when an American chooses a fork over a cross.
so xbox is for smart people and playstation is for toddlers?
PSX was the abbreviation used in every magazine on the planet even before the PS2 came out, because just "PS" was awkward to use.
Why do you care what he thinks? You're really immature, man. You need to grow up. Jesus, man, it's not every day on Sup Forums I see someone I feel actual pity for.
that looks so good i don't know if i should eat it or suck it
Fascinating. A fork? If anything they call it a cross in Japan, why did they name it fork and not X or Cross?
I think he addressed that in the last sentence
>acknowledging their existence anyway
Good job.
Still using it, stay mad, faggot
>No idea why Xbox has ABXY
Nintendo did the letters first. As for why, see:
>Press the chi button
Nah.
they call it eksu
Triangle points up and the O is for Outside
