I've had a lot of fun with it over the course of the EA. Decided to stop playing it so I have the complete experience the next time I play it
It has water in it.
Let the seas run yellow with Youtuber piss
Shit
Its good
Promising. Looking forward for future updates, especially for this big motherfucker, even bigger than the Sea Dragon.
I hope they release more content after 1.0
No multiplayer kills it for me, it gets really fucking lonely.
What's your favorite biome?
Mine is the Blood Kelp. There's something somewhat comfy about being surrounded by glowy white plants in the sunless depths.
One of the scariest non-horror games i've ever played.
Also one of the only early access survival games I don't regret buying.
That's the point, just you and whatever spooks in the deep
Fug, forgot pic.
I had a lot of fun with it, but it's pretty slow going early on. Trying to remember and map out where useful materials are is tough, especially with no real mapping equipment. Wouldn't that be one of the first things you create on an alien world?
Waiting for it to finish up. Tired of restarting.
I grew really attached to the Lost River after building a fuckhuge seabase on the Junction Mesa
In many ways it's deep.
You can make beacons to help you. I'd take 2 or three every time you go out just in case you see some cool shit you want to go back to.
The lost river is beautiful. My only problem with it is its too deep for a seamoth. Otherwise I'd make my main base there.
this for me too
I had a lot of fun, played just before and after the time they patched in the PRAWN. Excited to see what else they'll put in.
For what I played, it was a lovely foundation for a game. The world is really pretty, controls are nice enough, going around researching the wildlife was quite pleasant, the crafting and the basebuilding are simple enough that it doesn't become too much of a chore to establish a basic undersea base that feels genuinely nice and safe to be in, and is genuinely useful to have since storage space and power is a real concern. Unlocking the blueprint parts for the seamoth and exploring around on that qt little bubble submarine was the high mark of my experience with the game.
But then after you seal off the Aurora's reactor leaks the game seems to sort of lose guidance. The game nudges you towards exploring a couple islands in the distance, and I know there's A LOT more environments to find out and some terrifying undersea life, but I didn't really have much of a goal to focus on. It was just a couple hours of randomly roaming the world looking for wrecks in the hope that they would have new kinds of blueprints for me to scan and unlock, except they didn't. And other than that, there wasn't really anything incentivizing me to explore out of my comfort zone.
That, coupled with some severe performance problems [read: crashing constantly] made me drop the game and wait until it is properly released or at the very least more stable.
Also, Reapers flying off into space right in front of me.
Im wondering if there will ever be a console version, i hope so because i fucking hate pcs, i just think that pcs are clunky
I love creepvine, gives me the creeps.
I've never been below 500m.
I really want to go down to see the lost river and lava zone, but fuck having to grind materials to build the upgrades to go down there.
They need to add the rockpuncher or else I won't play it.
There's a version for the XBone that's about one update behind the PC version at a time
Probably the best early access game I've played. Really good atmosphere (including being nervewracking as fuck and even scary in some circumstances) and it looks beautiful.
They're still fleshing out the world at the moment but there's plenty there. I really like the unlocking system, whereby you actively have to explore wrecks in increasingly dangerous territory to unlock blueprints. There's actually surprisingly decent lore behind it, too, and there are objectives you can go for that follows a story - though you by no means have to.
I think they might still add it, although I'm not sure how it would work since terraforming was removed. Maybe it can punch the shit out of your seabase.
Safe Shallows because I've been playing 20 hours so far and seriously cannot go any deeper than the grassy plateus biome (the one with the red grass)
;_;
unironically probably the scariest game I've ever played
even now I still get that sense of dread when going into any area thats really deep and see the shadow of some creature off in the distance
There's an Xbone version
Mate, go there, it's delightful. My base is currently in the Lost River. Build a scanner room to fast-track (heh) getting the materials and it'll be quick as fuck. Build a PRAWN suit, stick it in your Cyclops and leave your Seamoth behind.
it'd breddy gud. I can pick up a Oculus rift DK 2 with accessories for just 180 bucks in a town next to me. Should I do it?
Don't worry user, there's nothing to be afraid of in the ocean. The only thing you should worry about are the occasional alien shark and definitely not any fuckhuge leviathans.
I like the devs, ns1 was the best hl mod.
Subnautica is a great concept for a game, too bad I'm a fucking pussy when it comes to deep water stuff. Just waiting for 1.0 for now for a full playthrough.
It's amazing but I'm waiting for the game to be complete before playing it again
Upper Grand Reef is nice as long as some Warper cunt doesn't kick your shit in. Otherwise the spirit tree or whatever is pretty cool too.
>No multiplayer
My only gripe really, I just want to explore the deep ocean with my bros all I ask really
>they need to add more creatures from the concept art, those reef crawlers look rad as hell
>they need a speargun
>the existence of mesmers makes it very hard for me while playing
Really poor performance.
>even bigger than the Sea Dragon
Last I heard, he was Reaper-sized.
I'm at least glad there aren't any space sea spiders or something of the sort so far [that I have seen, at least]
It's all fish, some really big and scary fish, but at least fish I can deal with.
I've never found the Warpers to be a threat at all, though I realise lore-wise they're supposed to be cybernetic hunter-killers.
>everyone talks about Reaper Leviathans
>think that the Reapers I've encountered so far are just "normal" Reapers and there's fuckhuge "Leviathan" versions of them somewhere in the game
Fuck me if they don't have those by full release.
>want multiplayer
>want to explore the deep ocean with my bros
you cant post here if you are underage. Go back to your pewdiepew channel with your bros.and play some shitty EA survival crafting game with them
have they finally fixed the weird stuttering issue and removed terraforming?
>>they need a speargun
inb4 shitpost shilling apocalypse
I agree
Journey, but underwater, but not.
JUST GIVE ME MY FUCKING CUTEFISH ALREADY
>speargun
Ehh, you don't really need one. The propulsion/repulsion cannon works just fine, and you can load whatever the fuck you want into it.
Reaper is the specific species, Leviatahn is the category it belongs to
All Reapers are Leviathans, not all Leviathans are Reapers.
That said, having an xboxhueg version of wildlife you have met before doesn't seem like a bad idea.
They already did it with the gas pods, so there's precedent.
>All these multiplayer fags
yeah because watching a Cyclops swim by with "DICKBUTT XD" and people screaming over mics plastered on it's side won't totally ruin the ambiance/atmosphere of the game
Trying too hard m8
Same here, I've started over and played through to the "end" of available content a few times now so I'm waiting until there's a ton of new content before I start over again.
Not sure I like the idea of the infection giving you a time limit though. I hate time limits in my games. I can't even get into Fallout because the concept hangs over my head, I don't care how generous it is.
Any reason to play it again? Last time I really played it was late last year. Anything new added that makes it worth playing again?
Ahem
I think they changed the way the Cyclops works. It can now be destroyed and catch on fire.
multiplayer fags are retarded
>Game about being the stranded lone survivor on an alien water planet
>WOW WHY AREN'T THERE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE HERE
Didn't the devs state they wouldn't actually implement a time limit because it would take the fun out of it? Please don't tell me that's changed.
brofist!
>muh guns are scary
Desperately needs basebuilding options. There's very little to do with a base and virtually no options for decorating it
DOOK DOOK DOOK DOOK
have they patched out the fps death yet? i fucking loved it, but once it caught up to me it became unplayable.
>broken as fuck
>crush depth only applies to things harder than steel and not your flesh and bone body
>no radar on a submarine even though it makes radar ping sound
>no defense measures for submarine
>20 foot draw distance so you're running into a cliff or reaper before it fully loads on screen
>annoying blueprint system scattered in unintuitive places
>silver and enamel are a pain in the ass to find and harvest
>p.r.a.w.n. drill arm pointless by the time you get the suit and all the drill blueprints
>active lava entrance and path to deepest areas too dark, make no fucking sense to navigate
>no flood lights on the sub, lights barely let you see more than 10 inches ahead, have to use crappy external cams
>no night vision on sub external cams
>base spotlights take ridiculous amount of power to run
>nuclear reactor makes ridiculously little amount of power
>many interior modules take up too much space
>general purpose rooms too small
>*place solar panel above water surface facing sun* 25% power production
>move extra fucking slow when inside wreckage
>diving reel fucking pointless, air bladder slow as fuck
>hunger/thirst, day/night cycle too fucking fast
Way too many things need to be balanced in this game. Also, I fail to see the point of being able to sleep the night cycle away if the day cycle is like 4 minutes long.
then don't fucking play in a public lobby?
I certainly hope not. The time limit was in last time I checked, but I haven't paid attention for a while.
Honestly just want multiplayer so I can play it with a few friends like the forest
For me its more about the whole dark deep unknown that you are supposed to go into than the creatures. Of course if they added some giant eight legged sea spider I would fucking shit myself.
Surely they're passive creatures like those moving island-sized things and not at all hostile?
I tried to play it, but on my ageing machine the pop-in was unbearable. This was around the time wrecks kept duplicating themselves as well, so it was also increasingly laggy.
>>crush depth only applies to things harder than steel and not your flesh and bone body
This is something that interested me so I looked it up, and as far as I can tell, the human body doesn't really HAVE a crush depth, because it's mostly water inside and water doesn't compress.
You'd die if you went too deep but not because of the physical pressure on your body, and the rest can be explained by fancy swim suit future science.
Submarines have crush depths because they're mostly hollow metal tubes full of air, and air is real easy to compress.
Nope. They're angry and they have EM shockwaves
>get EA back in January
>play thru February into March
>experimental build isn't adding much anymore
>decide to take break
>park cyclops right outside of dungeon aquarium
>come back yesterday
>suddenly lava lizards start attacking
>water is too hot
>cyclops fills with fire and smoke
>ui is completely different so don't know how to fix anything
>a bunch of icons are borked so i can't find a fire extinguisher
>explode
Think I'll just start over now.
Want to see what the Sea Dragon is like so I look it up on YT, this is the first video that comes up.
I don't understand this sort of shit and why cunts like this have so many viewers.
2spooky4me
...
The only miracle is that the save file worked after all those updates
Fucking crabsquids.
Crabsnakes are far scarier, though, because they will put you into a fucking chokehold if you swim too close.
Wasn't Jack responsible for the Cyclops Power Module?
Also I like IGP's Subnautica previews. Helps gets me excited for the next update.
Not an argument you underage cunt.
So fucking gas yourself.
You need to scan the decorative stuff. Chairs, tables, beds, shelves, toys, trashcans, coffee machines, posters, plantpots, etc.
There's plenty of decorative stuff.
I think multiplayer would be a great addition, but not really required as the exploration is enjoyable either way. The game itself leans on that type of thing already with base building and resource collection, plus boarding cyclops for the first time nets a "this vehicle is originally supposed to be piloted by more than one person" type of response as if the devs thought about it at some point. I mean apart from deep sea horrors the game is actually comfy as fuck with its colorful sea life. It definitely leans more on linear campaign rather than something open as Space Engineers, but you get my drift.
It's the water level I've always wanted.
That guy probably makes millions per year.
JUST end me
Definitely the best EA game I've ever played.
I'm really into building big ass bases so I'm hoping and waiting for more stuff to fill them with and more buildings to make. SeaLab 2022 can only have so many rooms dedicated to porn ya know.
Also it'd be cool for a big ass giganto submarine or boat for end game reward. Cyclops is pretty small.
The lower you go, the faster you lose oxygen. If you lose your seamoth 700 meters down, you can expect to lose ~100 oxygen in 20 seconds, instead of the usual 99.
It's a fun unique game. Taking a break because I don't like getting huge updates changing everything while I'm playing.
Your body is filled with gasses though, look up nitrogen narcosis and decompression sickness. You can only free-dive so deep IRL before you die.
That's what the Rebreather is for
I imagine the game will be way better once they ditch the random safes being scan points and give a point to wrecks and have the actual objects in game to scan. Played up until the prawn update and haven't touched it since. Once they fill the wrecks and give scan objects proper models and locations il jump back in.
The devs did consider multiplayer at one point, but then decided it would be too hard to implement, and also it would crash most people's games if you two wandered into different biomes.
just stop posting for good retard
Forgot to mention those massive files that need to be regularly cleaned out to keep the game from crashing every 2 minutes.
I haven't played it since the ion battery update like 3 months ago, I hope they fix this game and more importantly, put sonar in the fucking Cyclops.
Nitrogen narcosis comes from breathing pressurised air at depth, not from just holding your breath or breathing regular pressurised air or whatever. It's why there's a limit on how far down scuba divers can go; the deeper you go, the more specialised gas mix you need to compensate for the pressure, and there are only so many gasses that actually work for that.
I mean, to put it into perspective, nitrogen narcosis typically starts kicking in at around 30 meters down for suba divers. The world record freediving depth is 214 meters. The crush depth for a WW2 era German submarine was 200-280 meters.
It's one of those things that seems ludicrously counter-intuitive, but it's true. The limit on diving down deep is either our own lung capacity or availability of gasses that will work at those pressures, NOT the ability of the human body to deal with depths.
I'm upset that I have a pretty good rig and I STILL can't run this fucking game without constant hitching and stuttering whenever a new biome loads, even after the removal of terraforming. It's absolutely unacceptable for such a simple looking game to run so poorly.
I love the game, but its simply too un-optimized to run, does anyone know how to fix this?
Very nice. I played it during the summer and I'd recommend it even during that time.
Waiting until the full release to play it again myself but who really knows when that will come
I quite like it, but it runs like shit on my craptop. Waiting for performance fixes.
ooga booga post steam lets forest
omg water is scary lol
Can't even see the hiney, how am I supposed to provide thoughts?
Dude, idk if you've ever been swimming before, but if you dive down to the bottom of a diving tank, which is usually only like 10 meters deep, you'll start getting intense pain in your ears from the pressure pushing in on your skull. And that's only 10 meters, at a certain depth your head would just cave in.
These are nice features, does that sonar show obstacles as well or just hostiles? I also like the fire extinguisher wall mounts, I've been hoping they'd make those.
This stuff still seems broken as fuck, but they're at least going in the right direction.
>i don't need a shield, i need electrical discharge like the seamoth
>the sonar should give a wireframe overlay like the seamoth
>my sub that's strong enough to reach the ocean floor should not have catastrophic failures from a fish headbutting it 10 meters under sea level
I'm glad they're still working on this and at least trying to improve it.
