Consoles need more load times now than they did, so the screen would run on for too long and become annoying. So they'd rather just stick you with a loading screen and have you annoyed at that, rather than associate annoyance with the company's jingle.

PS3 had a good startup. "Prepare for high-art"

youtube.com/watch?v=GUb1gIKhwMU

Well ya see see see

youtube.com/watch?v=RsR5o4ifdgo

Saturn also has a good one and I think the Xbox One is the only one of the consoles that still has one.

The PS4 takes the same amount of time to boot up as the DC, and less than the PS2.

The real answer is everyone wants to be "sleek" and "modern."

Why don't games do this anymore?

Playstation 1 is the GOAT

>shooters
go play fucking Battlefront you triple A loser

I miss this sound

youtube.com/watch?v=tajDxBaPBBM

Now they have dashboards

Jingle startup screens are considered kid trash and everyone wants to distance themselves from it. Check this out:

youtube.com/watch?v=DT_GjFCsNRo

So Apple is too blame? Why the fuck does every company want to be like them?

Why is the Dreamcast spiral so retarded?

Sometimes jokes seem a bit mean

Ain't nobody got time fo ' dat.

There's nothing wrong with being sleek and modern, but all apple devices all have startup screens, so don't blame them if some console doesn't.

Please tell me we're talking about PS4 and Xbox One because PS3 and Xbox 360 definitely had boot animations.

Because consoles aren't consoles anymore. There basically shit locked down PCs with DRM. Consoles need to go back to the original way that consoles were intended.

what makes it retarded?

It looks like it was drawn by a toddler.

youtube.com/watch?v=KBGHHMfk9Ew
Still the best.

....this makes it retarded?

B-But...

It looks like it was drawn by a retarded toddler.

Switch is the fucking worst. It doesn't have any menu music for anything.

I think you need to reassess your conclusions before you post again.

PS1's startup was, is, and always will be the GOAT startup.

I've reassessed and come to the conclusion that the logo is all tarded out.

While "kid trash" is memorable even decades later, no one even recalls the PS3 having a jingle. Really makes you think.

its like the second post in the thread you dweeb

this is true, in all metaphysical levels

The eerie-ass Sega CD startup with that little dumb song gets me every time

Yet OP couldn't recall it. I couldn't recall it. The rest of the thread couldn't recall it.

But the ps4 does have a jingle

youtu.be/KXzPAQgxf5U

You just made me realize consoles don't have startup jingles anymore.

because consoles don't exists OP
only pc wannabes left

In fact it's the exact same startup jingle and aesthetic as all their phones

>no games
>no support
>no jingles

Vita was a mistake.

youtu.be/RB2tpJzArr4?t=175

I miss on PS3 when it used to have a little chime and show the PS3 logo when you started the game itself up.

i can't fucking believe they've ditched the PLAYSTATION 3 screen that played when you started a game in a firmware update
an era died that day

I think ps1 pal and ntsc had different start up animations

>Ditched it on the PS3
>Kept it on the PSP

What did they mean by this?

Easily lowest tier.

Damm, that PS1 intro still does it to me. It still feels like starting a great adventure or some shit, i don't know how to put it.

Step aside, gramps.

The OG Xbox startup is pretty interesting, it isn't an 8 second sound file like you'd usually do for something like this. The sound guy had only 25 kB of space left on the boot ROM, so he wrote up a custom sequencer to use the synthesizer chip to generate the sounds on the fly.
