This isn't a thread about muh cheevos, it's using them to determine % of players who finish games

Look at the trophy/achievement list of any particular game.

Notice how the one for completing the first level is already somewhere between 80 and 90%.

Notice how the one for completing the game (as in last level/whatever) is under 10%.

Why do 90% of people who have bought AND started a game not finish it? How many have bought it and not ever even started it? Why do developers even bother?

Well youre lying man, most games last trophies are between 40% 50%

I actually made this thread two weeks ago or so. Sup Forums told me that people have short attention span or just bought the game for the mp

Less than half of the people who own Half Life 2 got the crowbar.

I have like 200 games on Steam I never played and never will. I have them hidden from my library.

That, + my ~50 game backlog
I imagine this is the case with a lot of people.

It's entertainment though, dude. The objective is to enjoy the game, the ideal is to finish it.

I start games and shove them in my backlog if they aren't spectacular enough to hold my attention. The only people that actually bother to finish games are poorfags who can't afford to keep shoving games into their never ending backlog.

someone bring the numbers for no man's sky

Does a game that's never been started even contribute to the global %s?

And that's only steam, anyway.

Maybe because it was either bundled or given away free to drag those % down?

>The only people that actually bother to finish games are poorfags who can't afford to keep shoving games into their never ending backlog
Or people who actually know how to recognize a good game when they see one so they don't have to buy tons of useless garbage they'll never play.

>trophy for starting the game
>less than 100%

How.

>tfw you can tell how many people looked under toobie's skirt
thanks for the achievement system microsoft!

>only 200
you are like a little baby
you don't want to see my console backlog either. somebody end my suffering

A few years back me and my friends would share around ps3 games and would try them out whenever someone brought a new one over, and since you usually don't finish a game in one session you'd just have a handful of trophies

If it's shit like ps+ I don't bother finishing them most of the time because they're garbage.
Also sometime I can spend years playing some long games because I keep switching games

Why are you mad at fucking statistics, man?
It's trivial.

Bloodborne is really interesting for this

> almost 40% of players gave up before Gasgoine
> 50% gave up before Amelia
> 30% finished the game
> 7% got the Platnium

Tons of people gave up early, but a huge portion of those who actually beat the game went on to do absolutely everything in it.

>less than half of the people who buy a game get through the prologue
>of those people, not even a third get through the rest of the game
And Sup Forums shills will still try to sell you this game, too.

> 7% got the Platnium

Thats... thats actually pretty impressive. Most plats are around 2%

Bloodborne is one of very few games I've platinumed (maybe 3?), I honestly don't think it's that difficult to platinum compared to a lot of games. Though I guess you do have to do the chalice bullshit fucking hated the chalices, shouldn't be in the game or should be better made for a few of them, and of course the different endings.

same with the other Souls games

people who can't into it drop early, people who "get" it can't stop playing if they wanted to

who else got every plat even Scholar?

I'm mad at the huge majority of people not completing massive parts of games, yet they must occupy a majority of thereby completely uninformed discussion on them. It also makes the whole playing games thing a bit more intangibly lonely, I guess, knowing that most people never bother to see any of it through, and all that work put into it goes so unappreciated.

I have money for video games but no time to play them all initially. Usually I buy a game then update it and open it to the main menu then turn it off and put it in the backlog for later. I'm not sure but I think people like me are included in those percentages.

Achievements for Half Life 2 came out way after the game got released and everyone and their mom finished it.

I buy games at launch and sometimes don't get around to them after a few hours of trying it out. W101 took me 2 years to sit down and beat simply because I was turned off by the controls at first and decided to try again later. It's usually just a problem of having games you find fun and want to play over some new release you know nothing about and doesn't grip you in the first 5 minutes.
W101 is actually a perfect example since you need to learn to play and get a few powerups before it becomes fun, and even longer for it to become amazing.

maybe those percentages just some bullshit to make you feel like a special snowflake for being in the .1

Valid points.
But remember that every hobby has people who are into it for half-assed reasons.
Instead of feeling lonely among people who don't give a shit, appreciate the company of people who love vidya as much as you do.

Poorfag detected

Depends if you're going by Sony's official stats or PSNP/other third party sites.

You can smell this post was sponsored by sony.

I plat'd DeS, DaS, and Bloodborne. Bought DaS2 on PC, never finished it. Recently did my third run through of DaS3 and got the final ending as well as beating both DLC's, probably won't go for all of the steam achievements though.
Thinking about purchasing SotFS and giving DaS2 another go.

Hoarding stuff you don't need is poorfag behavior.

Some people install the game and never go past the menu screen.

>Some people install the game and never go past the menu screen.

yep

They don't. But it's still possible that stats get skewed one way or another, if for example achievements are added into the game after release, meaning that there are tons of people who have already completed the game and thus logged hours in it without actually having any achievements. That's why we have stuff like .

I think sometimes you just turn the game on and don't play it, so the achievements get registered. But the truth is, most people get bored of any given game and don't finish it

>DeS platinum
You either cheated or are completely insane.

Makes me wonder if it's possible for devs to make an achievement award 0g. That would be appropriate for first boot achievements.

If you faggots took all the money you wasted on meme sales for games you dont even remember buying you could have used that money to pay a psychiatrist to give you meds so you actually start playing those games or stop wasting money like fucking idiots.

Alternatively save up for prostitutes??? we all know you are virgins.

I think there are a few XBL achievements
