Alien Swarm thread

Alien Swarm thread.

>What is it?

A free top-down 8-player squad shooter with 4 classes. The original game by Valve was a flavor of the month 7 years ago, but a new version came out that finally added fucking mod workshop support.

Have any of you played the new campaigns? How are they? Which is your favorite?

I'm playing the one with the red objective previews in an 8 man lobby. It's fun but every time more than one person dies in a row the server lags after the kill cam and you get zerged.

wtf the original was 4 players what is this nonsense?

You can now have 8 player lobbies, doesn't stop you from playing with 4

I think I am too. Username? Everyone just died.

blah
what a fucking shitshow this server is, it's great

Most new maps are shit, gimmick fests, with insta death hazards and drops to death and too dark to see even in front of you
bs without flashlights or something

>Alien Swarm was seven years ago
jesus fucking christ make it stop

I'm on a different server then.

Does it still only have one campaign?

Can I play it on lan only?

There are tons of custom ones now, plus there's workshop support

Yeah

nice thank you user

Anyone try City 17?

It was alright, fucking antlion guard out of nowhere though

No but I'm interested.

Damn this shit is fun

The actual original had up to 8 players and some campaigns were made for that amount.

Do you need to download the custom maps to play them if other people host?

>installed game
>installed color and weapon retextures
>installed chaos marine textures
>ready to play

portal2 was 6 years ago (almost to the day)

Literally no reason to play this when Helldivers is out.

>Free

How is this sonfar, compared to the original?
I got that launch day and for me it got stale real quick. Anything new?

Pretty much the same but new maps and a few new weapons. Workshop support changes everything in the long term though

I've been playing with a friend and here's a question. Since we're playing with two other bots, what should we have them do specifically? Like what role is better for bots.

man i loved the original when it came out
glad to see its finally being expanded upon

Does the difficulty scale if you're only 3 players?

I hope someone remakes the Telic campaign.

>Barely anyone playing anything past normal
>Always end up having that one guy be a total useless cunt
>Games rarely get past the first few levels
>Everyone hates the residential area

Feels the same.

I don't suppose Unreal assets are easy to port into Source.

Make your own room.
