Probably would have been a better idea to post this thread in /vr. You'll get a lot more sympathy there. Most of the kids on this board haven't even played the game.

Well sheeeitt

Next to Dracula X, this is my favorite Classicvania. Good find, OP.
Jason Peterson
Enjoy my man, it's a great game. Many of the levels are a little too easy but it's still a wonderful experience
Juan Bennett
Whatre your favorite areas my main men?
What boss do you think is the biggest challenge?
Dylan Jenkins
>tfw when you expect to get comfy with an old game only to find out there are wicked water reptiles in it
just wait until the game makes you go through a room
The treasury stage is my favorite. It's got the best music in the game, IMO.
Luke Stewart
It's a retelling of the first game's story, but it's very different in terms of gameplay and level design.
Similar to Chronicles.

>that kid who moonwalked up stairs at school

It also gave us the series' unsung heroes.
Isaiah Richardson
It's such a comfy game. Super Castlevania IV is like video game candy. It's not too tough and it's not too easy. Music is excellent. Big sprites. Mode 7. That eight direction whip. This and Castlevania 3 are the best classic Castlevania. Runner up is Rondo of Blood. Some like to put Bloodlines up there but I don't think it deserves it.
Isaac Mitchell
Comfy vidya candy is exactly what I'm looking for
Comfy old Nintendo Power screens really got me in the mood
Xavier Rivera
It's a nice easy game until you get to the final blocks. Enjoy that outer wall climb with the instant death gear followed by the boss rush.
Slogra-Gaibon-Death is actually more challenging than the final boss as Drac just kinda rolls over and dies for you in this game compared to most of the other Classicvanias.
Aiden James
What were those guys' names again?
Lucas Bell
actually /vr/ generally hates CV IV
Zachary Collins
>RetroDuo
What's the point? Aren't the Retro consoles just emulators with DRM?
Carter Nelson
Slogra and Gaibon
Easton Martinez
>emulators
...what? It's a modern console that has slots for both SNES/NES cartridges that costs less and doesn't break as easily.
How would DRM affect my cartridges at all?
Jackson Mitchell
eh once you're used to it I'd say it's too easy, unless you play the hard mode/second quest, which is usually either about the right amount of challenge or just frustrating because of the surprise bats everywhere
Isaac Carter
Gaibon on the left, Slogra/Barrigan on the right.
Part of the boss rush near the end of the game of IV, given lobotomies so they can be the first bosses in SotN and later becoming common enemies in that and future games.
I remember hoping they would be full bosses in Harmony of Despair, but were just common enemies once again.
Sebastian Edwards
oh I forgot I take it back, the dungeon and the clock tower are not too easy and neither is the Slogra fight, but the rest of the late game is still pretty easy
Leo Gray
Sorry, I was thinking of the Retron 5. It uses carts, but the machine is essentially an emulator that requires a cart to be inside to play the equivalent rom (it just loads the rom from the cart and runs it in an emulator)
I don't know if the RetroDuo does the same thing or not
Liam Perez
the cartridges have anti-piracy measures in them, any reproduction console has to get around them
Anthony Cook
Ahh gotcha. Those controllers are bizarre.
Retroduo is pretty cool, they have one that does Sega Genesis as well as NES/SNES. Plus they come with two factory fresh controllers.
After my SNES died I went with a duo that lasted me about 6 years, just bought a new one for like $40 bucks. Much less of a risk. When I have more cash and am settled in my new place I'd go back to getting a a boxed SNES, but I think I might just leave it on a shelf and play the DUO to be safe.
