>great voice work
Let's not go overboard. It was literally the devs and some of their friends and neighbours and it shows

Good for what it was

Both races of Ur-Quan had pretty decent VA work tbqh.

It was still good though. Only a few races sounded bad, the rest felt like you were watching a good quality saturday cartoon.

Which races sounded bad to you? Thraddash were iffy, Spathi were just okay. Shofixti were pretty weak.

Utwig

It's mostly the filters, I'd say

Hey Orz, what happened with the Androsynth? You guys seem to know something.

I wish more people would do this, it's gotta be way cheaper and I'm tired of hearing the same handful of voice actors in literally everything

Oh shit, you're right. I mostly skip the Utwig dialogue out of tradition and now I remember why I started the tradition.

The Ultron questline is shit. Fuck the Druuge.

Because when it backfires, it backfires spectacularly. Check out Chaos Wars on the PS2.

>the Syreen Commander was voiced by Paul and Fred's neighbour
>she got really flustered and embarrassed when asked to voice all the innuendo and the implied sex scene

If some comes out bad just rerecord the lines with new guys over a weekend.
For small roles thats absolutely not a problem.

>played in the dos era
>voices seem out of place no matter what

Did not know this. I now enjoy that scene far more.

I liked this game because unlike nowaday's sci-fi game where basically every alien looks like a human in a costume (looking at you, Mass Effect), they went fucking nuts with how the aliens looked.

I mean we had psychic toads which dominated an entire race psionically, a hybrid between a tennis ball and a parrot fish, giant caterpillars divided into two subraces that the "nicest" one wanted to enslave every single race, and this fucking thing here. I doubt we'll ever see anything creative like these things here again, which is really fucking sad.

This makes me *Frumple*. Androsynth are not the story!! If you are say the question another time then Orz are *dancing* for *dissolving* the *Campers*. Maybe you would make good *special sauce*?

>Umgah likely used to have a form before being EVIL BLOBBIES AVAST!
>Got so into genetic modification that they look like they do now

Is Star Control Origins going to have anything to do with the original devs? Is it even going to come out or will it be vaporware. From what I saw in the trailer the gameplay looked pretty similar to Star Control 2 just with updated graphics but it less than 2 minutes long.

I liked the Mycon, because depending on the path you take, you can see it from multiple perspectives. The species harmed by them saw them as an evil calamity, but to the Mycon, they're just living their lives and propagating their species.

It's being made by Stardock. Toys for Bob sold its soul to Skylanders and might as well be dead

Well I hope it's good. If it's a prequel that takes place during the first alliance of free stars it could be interesting. Might not have such a nice ending but it would be interesting.

>Actual SC2 thread
>Discourse is far different because no shitposters are here
Is this what /vr/ is like?

And to keep it on topic: How did the Zoq-Fot-Pik survive so long without being slave-shielded/killed despite being on the edge of Ur-Quan/Kohr-Ah space?

Maybe their colonies were really spread out and hard to find. I thought they mentioned that it's not exactly going well when you meet up with them

Will we finally learn what happens when the Orz really get here? Will we finally have that epic conflict against extradimensional demonic horrors from *below* that we were promised oh so long ago?

you are such *silly cows*

it is time for the *dancing*

Weren't they being attacked by the Kohr-Ah during the game? I assumed that if the player didn't intervene they would have been slave shielded. I assumed they just went unnoticed beforehand.

They did mention that all their colonies were destroyed, but they said that it was accidental- the greens and blacks were fighting each other very close to their colonies ("They favor combat near strong gravity wells" was the line IIRC). I didn't see any indication that either group knew of the Zoq-Fot-Pik at all.

The Doctrinal Conflict kept the Ur-Quan busy with each other, they mention that their colonies were only ever destroyed by accident because the Ur-Quan favour fighting around planetary gravity wells

They get stomped on eventually

Well since we know the Orz are a hivemind that "they" use to interact with realspace, the devs could use that as a jumping off point to resolve some plot with the orz. It seems like a prequel though so they'll probably leave a lot of that open ended stuff alone in case toys for bob decides to one day use their skylanders money for good.

I'd put that mostly to the strategic use of voice modulators and a good idea of how to make organic-sounding writing. Having each line be only fifteen words at most does wonders towards making characters sound like they actually exist and aren't just people narrating a paragraph of random lore bullshit.

>sell the Slylandro a single probe for all the biological data on their entire planet
>sell you mounds of useful information and high technology blueprints for a couple dozen stunned animals and rainbow planet scans
>will give you fuel if you have literally nothing else to offer for it
For all their talk of fair and equal trading I'm pretty sure the Melnorme were selling to you at a huge discount because they're the Mael-Num and want you finally stop the Ur-Quan

I highly doubt Toys for Bob will ever use all that money they got from Skylanders to create a new game. They pretty much killed any hope we could have had about more Star Control when they decided to make a big buck off of the childish stupidity that is Skylanders.

Not that it really matters, they had the chance to buy the IP and they didn't, so now it belongs entirely to Stardock
