Character Creator

Faced with a character creator, what do you do?

>choose the default or one of the set options
>make the best looking character you can, of your sex or not
>invent a character and build it to fit the narrative
>create yourself into the game
>deform it to be deliberately ugly/ridiculous

First run, I'll make myself.
Subsequent runs are usually "oh, this would be cool if I did this."

Take 5 minutes to make something halfway decent and then play the game.

The only games I actually try are porn and wrestling games, cause they let you fucking save it. So I just pick a preset and tweak it.
I tried recreating myself in Dragon's Dogma at least, using a preset.

I enjoy making a dorf if the game allows it.

30 minutes spent makin a sexy bitch

then on a hot dudebro

this

More games should let you save created characters. Fucking bothersome to save sliders manually, if it's feaseable to do so.

3.

Make a cute girl or an old man

Yes. I liked what Mass Effect 1+2 did and would export a code that represented sliders for the face, so it was easy to share.

Can we have a list of games that let you create a character? I just picked up Dragons Dogma, and I need more games that let me make my character mine. Personally, I want to find more that are either like DD, or at least have me in third person (first is fine as long as I can see them occasionally), and are anywhere from skyrim/fantasy area, to modern - > cyberpunk/futuristic.

Halp?

>fucking loved the DAI character creator - looking for this tier of creation. Idc if I can make other race characters or not, more choices the better.

I have a set of character ideas I use for each game

made a drow-fu for DD

my nig

>Try to make myself
>It's not very interesting, just a white blonde guy
>Make a black man
>it takes forever, and literally nobody else has made one because the game doesn't have that race option
Or... this.

Oddly, I've notice soccer games tend to have very good character creators.

In Bethesda's games I use FaceGen demo and a face ripper tool to make realistic faces based on people and like, and then paste the data into a saved game. No need to fuck around with sliders for hours trying to make a non-downy face.

I always spend an hour or more making the best character I can. I prefer pick-a-part to sliders because sliders offer too much control especially when 9/10 games don't let you test the character under in-game lighting conditions until you've already locked in your choices.

My boy, Cleft Palat

Whoops, forgot image

I either make a big tired middle aged dude with scars and shit, or I make a delicious brown silver haired woman.

Make a 50's/greaser/pompadour looking character.

Everytime.

Maybe even choose a light goatee if it's available.

Aw yeah you know it.
This was a goddamn beautiful game. Though I've played through it three times now, different classes but with the same Qunari. I'm kinda sweet on her at this point.

Now that I think about it, so have the NCAA Football games. I think I made a character once.

>Height slider to max
>Weight to minimum
>Awareness to 0
>Jump height to max
>Running speed to max

I had a good name for him, can't remember.

I always end up making things like this

I make cool guys, because im not cool in real life

Choose famous person/character, look up "[game] [name] sliders" and, finding something or not, create it and roleplay as him.

I've played as a Terminator in TES:Skyrim, as well as an escaped Lokir discovering he's the dragonborn.

>try to make ugly character
>extremes on many sliders wind up becoming a character where you can see the subtleties of the facial expression system
>accidentally wind up making the most handsome character possible for the engine

I just hit random ten times and stick with that

>>invent a character and build it to fit the narrative
>>create yourself into the game
one of these two depending of the game.

I usually make a tall black dude with shaved hair and a goatee/full beard, or a cute lightskin girl with braids or dreadslocks if they look cool.

I try to make myself, because I'm boring and I'll care more about the character that way.

Make the cutest girl possible.

It never turns out well.

same but because it's almost what I look like, but less handsome

I make cute girls, because im not a cute girl in real life

So you're female?

no not at all but I may be cute

extremely boring character design

look at any generic npc in any rpg and that's my character

Oh then fuck off and die fag

...

I download mods for it and recreate my face on a grotesque bimbo style female body

>spend 4 hours playing with all the fucking options and sliders
>start game
>get bored because it's a universal law that the first two hours of games with character creation have to be totally garbage
>restart and spend even more time making a new character

dragon age inquisition was awesome for CC

I make a character who is not explicitly supposed to be me, but usually ends up looking like me.
It's probably because I think so of my facial features like my eyes and cheekbones are goddamned perfect.

Pic related, it's me.

Yep

Either default black guy or something ridiculous

I dont care about charscter customization

>create handsome character
>think about some background about him
>have projects for his little face I made in about 2 hours
>play eve online for the first time
>realize character creation is even more useless on this game
>fml.jpg

Finally a character creation thread where the posted OCs don't all look boring as shit.

Try to create a cute girl usually.

I'm just going to keep posting.

Why'd you put clown makeup on an old man?

...

rude, and fuck you

I usually fuck around and make a couple different things, then just pick whichever one comes out the best
>Recreate myself
>Cute girl
>Deformed/Ugly/Silly character
>Solid Snake/Big Boss
>Judge Dredd

That really made with the engine alone? You sure there are no mods? If som, I'm very impressed.

Those chars were to be ridiculous but turned out awesome.

>make the best looking character I can
>continue to make changes throughout my playthrough if possible

Depends on what you mean by "modded". I didn't change anything, but ripped facegen data and paste it into a save game.

...

2nd option and usually spend a good hour or 2 in there.

I dont have any screenshots left. But APB has a pretty good character creator.

Hes some SW4 though (Which is somewhat limited)

I usually try to create a cute girl by default. But if i have an idea for a character ill build them to fit that story no matter the gender.

I mean if, in theory, it's possible to create it on the game alone tinkering with sliders, disregard how hard that would be.

Too cold in Southern Thedas

First choice loli, if not possible then trap, if not possible then a big beefy muscle dude. These are the three body types I like to ogle in order of preference.

Are these supposed to be the ugly characters you make as a joke?

Mine are cute to me

if you have a tumblr that would explain why

>make the best looking character you can, of your sex or not
Mostly, on occasion I'll do choice 3

Nothing to do with tumblr. I like characters with darker skin and lighter hair. The Qunari isn't mine.

>invent a character and build it to fit the narrative
This one.
I assume the last two are for normalfaggots and underage.

It depends.
In most games, i typically make a generic handsome dude with a pompadour if available or long hair.
Sometimes i'll go with a crusty old pissed off man
The exception to this is in Dragon's Dogma, where i attempted to make David Bowie. It didn't really work but i do like the result.

I do not make waifus

yeah but they all look like intentionally ugly tumblr trolls and you posted a shitty tumblr reaction gif

The DA:I character creator was fucking atrocious. Now you can lube up your character with copious amounts of grease, with minimal dyke haircuts and a bunch of bald styles as well (???). It's pretty difficult to create a normal looking female that didn't come out of Tumblr, as all the complaints for it go.

Nigga, what? People post reaction gifs on here all the time

I used to just make pretty girls all the time but these days I actually make some dudes.

Though I generally always have a loli or post-loli character.

I usually try to make a badass old man.

I always try to make the dumbest shit I can

I see OP listened to this week's Harmontown.

no we post webms because we aren't retarded

I try to make an approximation of myself. Since I have no artistic talent, that usually just means making a character that matches my general skin tone, hairstyle, and eye color. It doesn't work out in every game, because I have long hair and some games don't offer long hair options for male characters.

>deform it to be deliberately ugly/ridiculous
Never in a game do I like doing this, I don't know why. My friends always make dumb looking characters but my autism makes it so I can't bring myself to do it.

Plenty of people post both on here.

yeah there are plenty of transplants from other sites here, like you, but honestly you should all just fuck off

I'm fugly as hell in real life, I really don't like making game characters that remind me of myself. I want to be the Chad and savior of mankind, not some retard looking downy that happened to be in the right place at the right time.

>We
>Tumblr

You're trying way too fucking hard to fit in for someone who most likely started posting here after 2010.

You can go with them.

>trying to fit in meme

I don't think I look like Chad or Quasimodo, but I don't want to play the game looking like fucking Shrek

if you arent human trash you shouldnt be allowed to post here, its my safe space

I don't do it either. Part of it is that I actually try to take a game's story seriously, and I can't do that while looking at a protagonist designed to look as stupid as possible.

I do occasionally like to watch other people do it, though:
youtube.com/watch?v=jvBDDw9rIy8

>>trying to fit in meme
>Someone telling someone to stop trying so hard to fit in means they're from Reddit
>Implying anyone just started using Sup Forums the moment they touch the internet and didn't migrate from some other website/forum

Summer's early

>hurr durr someone posts shit I don't like so they are obviously from [insert site here]
Fuck off, faggot

>Try to make waifus
>Get disappointed with lack of options in most games
>Usually just make an insane homeless guy

>Two
What did she mean by this?

I'm kind of surprised by how many people try to make themselves. I always thought that would be seen as the cringiest option to take.

its only faggots and landwhales from tumblr who try to normalize ugliness so they feel less shit about themselves and i think thats fucking stupid and they should admit how ugly they are and wallow in the bittersweetness of self hatred and admiration for beautiful people instead of trying to drag everyone elses standards down

It's pretty cool when you manage to make yourself in a game. Or anyone, for that matter.
Harder than it sounds though, fucking miis are troublesome to work around.

Usually make an older guy that fits the lore but always with blonde hair, so I can project myself into the game a bit easier. But the best part is if a game lets you tweak your character later on so you can artificially age/scar them to give the game a better feeling of longevity.

It means peace or deuces in this context, as she is leaving

I thought self-inserts were considered embarrassing.

Roleplaying in general is frowned upon.

If there's a great looking default, keep it.

If there's a good looking default, make small changes.

If there's nothing of value, do my best and think less of the game.

I don't modify the facial features or whatever 'cause ninety percent of the time it comes out fucking retarded.

I almost never pick female. Definitely wouldn't online.

In Oblivion and Fallout 3/New Vegas your character ages, but it's a fucking useless feature because people can't play enough to see their characters age, unless they intentionally make them old from the start of the game.
