How do you feel about the death of the fighting games genre?

It is not like tekken 7 will save it.

feels good. people gobbled up capcoms shit for far too long

Got shitfaced and played MvC3 and SF5 all last night with my best friends. Wasnt aware it was dead.

I'm content with MvC2 and Alpha 3 for the rest of time.

smash bros 5 will save fightan games since sakurai isn't working on it

We have all of these options and you fucks are still worried about SF?

>MKX sold over 6 million copies
>Tekken will more than likely sell well
>Injustice 2 will sell over 4 million copies
>Only fighter that bombed was SFV

Fighting games are doing well. As much as the FGC thinks SF is fighting games, it isn't.

It's not dead, people just expected the SF4 boom to last forever. We're in another dark age right now, sure, but every new game in the genre that isn't Street Fighter or some meme shit is great.

Only Street Fighter is dead

The past year was horrible though. However in 3 weeks starts Injustice, Tekken, then Marvel. It's gonna be a good year

i couldn't care less if the fgc dies, people will still hold locals for kofxiv and since it won't be in esports ever anyway, and it's a fun game, nothing changes on my side of the immigration fence

the only thing we lose is your precious stream memes, which can fuck off and die, and losers like you can go away and never pollute our locals with your shitty meme speak

>tfw no more usf4 tournies

>Injustice
Not even gonna bother when they're pulling this kind of shit. I could get two fighters for the price they want for all of the characters.

Only SF is "dead", but Capcomfags like to think that if SF dies the whole genre goes in the drain with it.
It happened with SF3 too. The other fighters are prefectly fine.

Shit genre nobody cares about anyway.

>Only SF is "dead"
It is the most played fighting game at the moment every where except maybe japan.

What's more popular in Japan?

Maybe so gane available on arcades since SF5 has no arcade release.

Fighting games can't die. It's ironically too niche to die. If they were going to die they would have died during the pre-sf4 dark age of fighting games.

>tekken
KEK
eventhubs.com/news/2013/may/10/tekken-tag-tournament-2-misses-sales-target-soul-calibur-5-doing-fine/

>still can find matches on TTT2
>Still can find beguiners
>Never wait more than 1 minute

The only dead game is your garbage Street Fighter, but hey maybe Street Fighter 2 hyper HD switch edition will save it, kek.

There was no "dark age"

I'm more disappointed that SFV only holds my interest when I'm playing with people in the same room. Whether it's against each other or alternating online sets.

Outside of that this game is a chore alone. It's excessive waiting, and no content in between. All trials were done back in 2016, survival is not worth the time, and story stuff is bland overall after the extra play through.

It's unfortunate that the only time I log into the game these days is to just BS the missions for 5 min and move into something else.

You're saving yourself the trouble of playing what will undoubtably be a dogshit multiplayer game to begin with.

The only thing NRS games are worth is single player shit. Hell, the west in general has never made a good competitive fighting game. Not even one. I'm not even a guy who hates western shit and loves japanese shit, it's just a fact.

>soul calibur V
What a mistake.

Whatever you want to believe buddy.

>has to be drunk to play SFV

Seems about right

Watching shit like SF5 tourneys is fucking boring as hell and even stuff like excellent adventures lost their charm.

They even started making videos of smash bros melee now.

>ttt2
>Not dead

The genre will die along with Street Fighter and it won't be the first time it has happened.

It's a shame.

>ttt2
>dead

Let me guess, SF4 was your first fighting game.

E sports saved it and will keep it around for a long time. I'm not a big e sports fan but it's the perfect game and genre for it.

fuck you fuck fuck fuck
if you clicked this install an anti-virus and run it immediately
fuck you user

>be a Ryu main
>haven't played in weeks because I've been playing other games
>hop on casuals
>rusty as hell and lose first few games
>eventually get matched up with a fucking Balrog
>match up already sucks in Ryu's favor, get destroyed trying to play the way I normally play because I can't react to Balrog's retarded dash punches
>say fuck it and decide to play like a madman on the rematch
>end up destroying him two games in a row

every time

This. Its the easiest fighting game to get matches on PS3, don't know about you 360 fags

None of them play like SF and most have problems I hate SFV for.

Why does everyone call it random when the same people are doing well/ winning tournaments?

That implies consistency.

IM-FUCKING-PLYING.

I can get matches in seconds with all types of ranks in seconds on TTT2 for PS3, i cant say the same for SFIV ULTRA on PS3 or SFV on PS4. Posting green text and an intonic image doesn't make you less wrong.

>play passive against a rushdown unga character
>lose
>play unga against a rushdown unga character to deny his unga antics from happening
>win
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOW

Actually fighting games are simply migrating to the strongest console for them. Nintendo platforms.

Smash, Pokken, Arms, and others have all proven themselves to be much better than Street Fighter.

People act like there are fighting games out there that are universally loved, which isn't true. Then they see one or two problems with a new game they're not particularly interested in or understand and blow it up like the game is the biggest piece of shit ever made because it's popular and makes them look like they understand fighting games when the reality is they do not.

None of the games you listed are fighting games?

lolno ttt2 is dead as shit, theres about 3 people playing it.

sick b8

Maybe they just don't like the new games that much.

Street Fighter babies are sure mad as fuck.

no dan no buy

SF5 is pretty popular competitively and that's all that matters to me.

Tekken 7 will sell more but it will die off rapidly like every other Tekken game because casuals can't play it. The competitive scene will be Korean top 10s every tournament because the Korean vets have all returned for Tekken 7.

Wow you really are mad huh? Now if you had been talking about Tekken 5:DRO, the PS3's FIRST EVER online Tekken game from 2006 you would be correct because there are really about 5 people playing each night.

Why would anyone be mad at the fact a shit game is dead?

>They aren't fighting games

Just like Pokemon wasn't a real JRPG despite it ushering in an age where Nintendo handhelds dominated the genre.

This weird idea among Street Fighter fans that Fighting games HAVE to play exactly like it to be a real fighting game is a big reason as to why the genre is dying, I think.

Fighting games haven't evolved in the last 20 years.

No other genre gets away with this.

Gee user what fighting games do YOU play huh?

>I think.

You don't, kek. Stick to youtube comments.

Mahvel will save it

Wait, you're saying casuals love watered-down shit with no learning curve whatsoever? What a surprise!

Mortal Kombat X sold 5 million BEFORE XL was even out.

Both K.I and DoA5 been downloaded 6 million times. Street Fighter as a I.P is most likely dead but fighting games are far from dead.

People playing online means shit. Most people play these things with a buddy offline like on a sofa with some beers and shit. Try getting friends OP and stop being a shut in.

To be fair Tekken , MK and DoA never went away they always had a game out every few years only SF disappeared. Street Fighter fans are delusional they think if their game fails it means all fighting games are dead.

I watch fighting game streams on twitch before I go to bed. I don't even know why because I don't even play any but I just find it comfy.

you're about to get a lot of you's, congrats

No amount of delusion can change facts, ttt2 is dead and no one plays it.

Hey, playing SCV is great. The gameplay and music is amazing.

A shame about everything else, though.

Plus they had the best guest character

Again, this weird idea that Street Fighter is then pinnacle of fighting game.

Arms already looks as if it has more technical depth than SF, to be honest.

Dunno about that its one of the go to party games in my dorm user. Fucking great game.

>injustice will sell 5 million
>tekken will sell at least 1 million
>marvel will sell at least 3 million

sfv is a shit game though

What the fuck is wrong with all you fighting game fans out there? Do none of you enjoy them because you like martial arts?? Are fighting games only enjoyable to you as a competitove outlet? Do you only think a game is enjoyable if the higher ups are still playing it?

Im being serious, you fags never enjoy loading up the likes of Capcom Vs SNK2 because you can't play it online? The likes of Tekken 4? Of Alpha 3? How shit is that?

>facts

>yeah why don't u play call of duty 2 instead of buying cod WW2

I still have hope in MvC:I. But they recently got Ono involved and he shits everything up.

Tekken 7 is becoming a meme. It might be a great game, but all the disappointed SF players that need another game, because SFV sucks, will drop it after 5 minutes.

If you want to yeah. I might think you have some integrity, you CAN play both.

Don't worry guys, I'll save the genre. I want to create a fighting game.

Give me your best ideas and in a few years I'll deliver. I promise.

Tekken 7 is being hyped up by normies all over the place actually

New def jam game.

No Yeezus no buy.

Why normies?

why wont they give kof a try then? or are they afraid they'll be beaten by the guy who owns a burrito stand?

FGs are doing okay. SFV underperformed because it was released with a shit meta, tiny roster, bad netcode, no single player options etc etc

if SFV would have released last month in the current state it exists in, it would have done much better and been better received by casuals and competitors alike. as it stands now, its getting better at every tourney this year. im really excited about the CPT. NCR was legit as fuck. it was a bungled launch by modern capcom, what more did you expect?

tekken 7 is gonna sell like shit. its out in like a month and no one is looking forward to it or giving a shit about it except die hard tekken fans. it looks very good though

injustass will sell piles of copies but thats because of the current normie obsession with capeshit, it will be absolute shit on launch like all NRS games and will likely be barely tournament viable

anime fighters will always been niche, nothing new or interesting there

Superior limb-based combat

Fighting games besides SF exist and given the current state of SFV most of them are more fun anyway.

Much easier to get into than other fightan games, plus Tekken 3 was the first fightan game played by most sonyfags

>playing western fighitng games

kek

>SFV underperformed because it was released with a shit meta, tiny roster, bad netcode, no single player options etc

Kek. Remember at launch when they all said that stuff didn't matter?

user let it go. These Daigo wannabes dont understand that Daigo doesn't even play these games online.

They go on about how fighting games should be played online and that two dudes sitting on chairs in the same room playing each other is the thing of the past even though thats what EVO is two dudes sitting on chairs playing each other in the same room.

Im online and its full of rooms

>tekken 3

No sir, this right here. Superior roster, superior design, superior fucking OST.

listen man, you better forget about that hate or get #leftbehind

>if SFV would have released last month in the current state it exists in, it would have done much better and been better received by casuals and competitors alike

Some extra characters and poor (as opposed to nonfunctional like it was at release) netcode aren't enough to make SF5 a good game.

Where have you formulated that opinion from? A few character teasers and a tiny bit of gameplay?

I guarantee you've never played a traditional fighting game seriously in your life, and you're just upset because Capcbros like to pick on you annoying Smashfags. I don't even really play Street Fighter (I primarily play Tekken and Melty) but you are utterly delusional. If you're implying ARMS will have more technical depth than something like USF4, you are delusional, no question about it.

Anyone who's been exposed to more technical, more dynamic fighting games will quickly pass on tekken. Other top fighters, namely Street Fighter, KoF and MK have advanced impressively in their latest installments; but the relic that is tekken just can't seem to evolve, furthermore many combos can be done simply by hitting 1-button, and the nearly "instant-kill" rage art moves are just laughably broken. Instead of a supplying a proper fighting engine, matches in T7 seem to rely heavily on "who can get their rage move off first". So many elements of the gameplay don't even require any sort of skill. In my book, slow motion over and over again also gets old very quickly. And in the end, it's more of a novelty or gimmick rather than an actual, thought-out fighting game mechanic. But hey, the casual crowd will be pleased!

If you want something a little more "button-masher-friendly," tekken might be your cup of tea.... Key word, might.

I'm not even him but that's shit game design my friend.

injustice will sell 10 million because of normies

>Mortal Kombat X
>DoA5
>Street Fighter as a I.P is most likely dead
>People playing online means shit

>To be fair Tekken , MK and DoA never went away they always had a game out every few years only SF disappeared

Well crafted b8

>the developers allowing you to adapt your playstyle to win is bad game design
???

Not many people enjoy hopping around or having to choose 3 characters. that aren't that interesting by themselves.

>do you only think a game is enjoyable if the higher ups are playing it?

The people you are describing are not fighting game fans... they are stream shitters. They go to /r/kappa and gossip about the eceleb of the month and post tranny porn. They don't care about playing games, they merely watch others play. Which is probably why they love SFIV so much, if they played the game as much as they watched tourneys they'd realize how shit this game is.

Thing is though a lot of the FGC likes to hate on Smash but Melee love it or hate it, it created the FGC....and its not even a fighting game its a platform beat em up 8D

Most 09ers dont know this.

That's racing games user.

This. People always forget the CAPESHIT factor.

i never got why the whole 3 character thing is one of the reason why people wont play kof, even more so since a lot of these people can play multiple characters in more than one game proficiently

If facts are bait. Mortal Kombat, K.I and DoA are all doing fantastic. You know how well they are doing a simple google shows that.

Successul capeshit is Marvel, nobody cares about DC at all, they're trash, it'll sell well because it's made by the MK devs not because it's DC shit.
