Only a spunky monkey wouldnt like it

bought it
played it for 10 minutes and got bored
never touched again

>still no water physics
What's their fucking excuse?

It's good.

Purdy gud. One of my go-to "mindlessly grind runs while listening to podcast/long youtube video" games.

Harder than Dark Souls

>I got wrecked in 1-1 for ten minutes straight because I'm bad at video games

I'm grandmaster in overwatch, I think its safe to say I'm really fucking good at video games

Pretty good.
I prefer the original soundtrack though. No idea why they didn't give the option to change it.

But you can put it in the game anyways.

...

Love it, be the freeware version of the steam version this shit is my jam, if I were autistic enough I'd try to speedrun it.

Probably, most people never even get past the mines.

I genuinely love spelunky, it's a 10/10 game for me in that it does exactly what it tries to do perfectly.

...

Hate it. Can't get past cave levels. Breaks my illusion of thinking that i'm good at video games.

Beating Yama was the most satisfying thing I've done in vidya.

YUKA-LAYLEE RIPPED OFF SPELUNKY CONFIRMED

Fun as fuck. Artstyle makes me feel weird as hell. Buy it.

Hard as nails, really enjoyable, original GameMaker version had a better soundtrack except for the new olmec fight theme

When I used to binge on this game, both the GM and updated version, I replaced the music with La Mulana music, made the game super enjoyable

Why does every level look the same and generic in this game? It might be fun the first time you play it but it's boring to replay it, even if it's randomly generated

Made in Game Maker. Nothing else needs to be said, really.

Because you couldn't get past the first world. This is like asking why every level in Sonic is green hill zone. It's not, you're just bad.

So what?

Only the original version. Remake was custom.

I played the whole game.

How so? Every area is pretty distinct of each other.

Both games suck and they're not made by real devs.

Well then you're just talking shit. The worm level is wholly distinct from the jungle or ice caves or temple levels.

I'm sure you know all about what it takes to be a real dev, huh

One of the best games, like, ever. I probably have more than a thousand hours of playtime when combining the freeware version and the PC one. Easy to pick up, hard to master. Once you get good at it, it becomes nearly perfect for playing while listening to podcasts or whatever. One of my greatest videogame achievement is getting to the top of the leaderboards a few time in the dailies. Shit's super hard.

It's 10/10 GOAT. The design is perfect.

I've beaten the last level like 10 times though I never got into the city of gold.

How the fuck do i get through the Mothership area? Every time i find an giant alien their laser circles fuck me up instantly.

Yeah, not using shitty engines and commercially releasing games that only qualify as college final semester projects.

>hating a game so much you need to senselessly shit talk about it

Don't stand in one place. It's tough without a jetpack.

>procedural generation

>shitty engines
I'm sure you know because you've used it before right
>releasing games that only qualify as college final semester projects
tell me about your impressive college final project

I loved Spelunky, but after I finished the game, got all the achievements and got a 1.4M score once I just kinda dropped it.

I wasn't really into speedrunning it, and admittedly the game's a slog if you want to get the highest score because of how the ghost works. Had they made the ghost harder to deal with over time it could've been more interesting.

Dailies are occasionally fun-ish.

Yeah me too, there's not much to do after you kill Yama unless you're into chasing records.

>I'm sure you know because you've used it before right
Actually, yes, I played around with it in 2002-2003. It was very barebones at that point and I used to play a lot of shit that was hosted on gamemakergames.com. I had some fun but never took it anywhere serious.

Rush it, but don't bomb the place, word to the wise only go there if you have a shotgun and the jetpack.

Half of my playtime I sunk into the game went towards getting the no gold run. That shit drove me up the walls.

Like it a lot. I have just recently managed to get to Hell, and died almost instantly.

Is it me or does the ghost pop up faster in the remake? Kinda makes me want to play less desu

It spawns at 2:30 in both versions.

It took me pretty much 100 hours to kill Yama, I can do that easily now, but the first time was intense.

>2002-2003
Geez, dude. I used it 10 years ago and it was a pain in the ass, I can't imagine using it in the days where it probably was about as useful and Klik and Play.

Translation
>i played it for 10 minutes and got bored
You know some people have different tastes and just don't enjoy the genre.

I remember wishing there was a shortcut to hell, it's tough the first few times.

...

...

...

If you don't like the genre then why did you buy the game retard

>2002-2003
there are better engines. some free/open source and some premium/closed source. recommend unity or unreal if you want to try to have some fun; cs or cpp is the way to go imo.

make a basic maze game or something, you might just hit an idea for something great (in which case if you get serious, invest in a fucking closed source engine, or make your own. I'm sick of the indie barebones shit bloating steam)
best of luck and dont become a fill fish

That pic makes me giggle everytime

inb4 pirate scum

it's an actually brilliant game with brilliant gameplay

i was put off by the '2d indie game' aesthetic and procedurally generated levels, but look beyond that and you've got a rock solid game design
