GTA IV runs worse than V

>GTA IV runs worse than V
HOW?

>playing GTA IV/V

the mid to late 2000s were a dark time for PC ports

>older game runs worse than newer game
What did the faggot mean by this?

Because Rockstar was ass at porting GTA to PC and each of them after GTA1 had some kind of problem, be it compatibility issues to shit breaking with the framerate limiter off to missing graphical effects that took modders nearly 10 (TEN!) years to properly replicate.

>game has a gamebreaking bug if you play higher than 30 fps
how the fuck do they manage this? had to lock fps to 30 so i could pass a mission.

It's called optimization.
Old games and be worse optimized than new games so they still don't perform as well.

Works fine for me on my 360.

I like how they handled short draw distance on PS2, looks like an old movie sorta.

It's such a great game it doesn't want to be played by someone who plays V

They're all good for their own reasons, except 1, 2, and 3. and Vice City Stories. and Chinatown Wars, and Liberty City Stories. but the rest of the series is good. and London sucked too.

Somehow, some way, Rockstar made a port that basically is so fucking unstable and terrible that you could have a pretty old and kinda crappy computer that plays it mostly fine, change a single damn part in the system and suddenly it's unplayable. You could even get a top of the line computer and GTA IV basically decides whether or not it likes your system and may decide to shit itself.

Also it uses Games for Windows Live, so patch that shit out immediately since it's dead now.

That's every GTA before V. Locking it to 60 FPS is probably the best experience, but it can still mess up certain missions (the mission in VC where you have to drive Love Fist's car around fast enough so it doesn't explode is actually impossible since turning a corner makes the explosion meter go up so fast you can't recover from it).

Vice City stories is great, you can explore vice city on your handheld. What can be better?

It runs better for me the higher the more space I take up on my graphics card. For some reason the game decides that it should only take up 300MB of space on my 4GB graphics card.

no it doesn't

The gta iv port is pure magic.

Go away headphone meowster

>Playing console shit instead of proper games

Your computer is trying to save you from playing the dog shit game that is GTA4.

Draw distance is way too high if you set it to max. Pull it down to 50% at least, you'll see things pop up as you approach but then you see that in V asd other games. You simply can't render a ton of shit and expect the game to run at 60fps even modern engines.

it has the superior uncucked euphoria engine, and is more resource intensive

rockstar fucked up the pc port of gta 4, why do you think it took them forever to port gta 5?

I don't understand vidya games. Don't they get created on PCs in the first place? and wasn't the Microsoft box supposed to be similar to PC architecture?

Because they realised some people would pay $60 for the game each time?

I'm not denying GTA4 had a fucked up port, but by releasing it the way they did, they got some people to buy the game on 7th gen consoles, then 8th gen consoles, then finally on PC for the "definitive experience"

They definitely took their time on the PC port but I imagine it was purposeful to release it so much longer after the PS4/Xbone version to maximise sales

>no problems in GTA IV
>hear about how the more of your gfx being used the faster it runs
>everything has been on lowest and windowed 800x800
>put textures from low to medium
>game starts stuttering every few seconds like clockwork
>revert texture changes
>it still doesn't and won't stop

looks like my yearly playthrough has been cut short

To make a game run acceptably on the pieces of shit consoles it was designed for meant they had to implement all kinds of bullshit in the coding. Porting to PC means unfucking the code so it runs on any hardware rather than a specific set. They didn't bother to unfuck the code.

GTA 3 only existed because it had its development focused on one platform. Why should they have made the game run without the frame limiter when it was only supposed to be on the PS2? PC kiddies are lucky the games were ever ported when most would only pirate it.

but it was suppose to be on the dreamcast

GTA3? No, it wasn't. Where did you read that shit?

im a former rockstar employee

>thanking devs for a shitty port
>believing in the evil PC pirate boogeyman
shiggy diggy

Well I bought and played the games when they came out on their original hardware, not waited years and pirated a PC port made out of pity.

right?
