Go into living room

>go into living room
>bro is playing dark souls III on console
>laptop is next to him
>it's a complete guide walkthrough on youtube
>he gets angry whenever I ask him what's the point of playing like this

I give up.
pic related.

I play with a guide because video games aren't a dick measuring contest for me...

>giving a shit about how someone plays his games
He's just playing souls so it's not like he doing this to a good game.

Why would you play videogames if you didn't want to explore and experience the game yourself?
Why not just watch the walkthrough, why go through the trouble of pressing the buttons afterwards to see the same shit on your screen?

I usually do it the other way around.
>play vidya on my laptop in the living room
>too weak for multiple programs at once
>have a walk-through playing on the Wii YouTube channel

Why care what other people do or don't do?

Also it's Souls. You can't really git gud just from looking up the info.

Wow you are stupid.
following a walkthrough means you just avoid the trial and error - you still have to beat the enemies and bosses and face the rest of the challange coming your way.

It reduced the challenge and takes away from the game - but not nearly as much as actually just watching it instead of playing, that takes away everything from it bar the story. The fact that you didn't come to this conclusion on your own tells me that you probably play the same games, and gets tuck 15% into them and never play them again, because of your mental deficiency.

Only way to decipher the story, m8.

I'm playing DS2 now, and the whole thing is dumb as fuck. Some random boss in a cell somehow contains the soul of the witch of Izalith, and was put there for trying to rekindle the first flame?

what?

Is he stuck? I'll look up a guide if I'm stuck, but why would you do it preemptively

>Why would you play videogames if you didn't want to explore and experience the game yourself?

But you are. You really are. It's like saying you shouldn't use a satnav because you're not really driving.

I'll probably do the same for demon souls.
There's no one online to summon either

So he doesn't get stuck at all?

Also whats thats bodyshape called?

You are experience everything yourself you fucking autist, you find all the nooks and crannies, secrets, perfect routes, optimal builds so you enjoy the game with out doing the fucking homework

Probably for all the little obscure questlines
i didn't even know onion knight could save the thief

>Why care what other people do or don't do?

I don't care, people can do what they want. I just don't see the point behind it and would like to see the reasoning of said people as to why they do that.

I get looking up a walkthrough if you're stuck, but you're basically spoiling the whole game for yourself by watching the walkthrough. You know what's going to be ahead, you know where to get the hidden item, there's no sense of wonder or relief when you finally figure out an area.

Slow down there, bucko. Calling me names won't win you the argument. Half of dark souls is exploration and trial and error. There's hardly any story for yourself to spoil, you're just spoiling yourself the challenges you would need to think around.

>analogies
Yeah because I gotta go through that video game section as a mandatory thing for transportation. Damn, can't wait to play that dark souls area in order to get to my job.
Video games aren't a job, you're not meant to optimize and squeeze all you can out of them in the least amount of time possible.

How about stop calling me an autist while ranting about completionist optimization.
>without doing the homework
aka without trying

Don't bother. Demon's Souls doesn't really need a guide for anything other than World Tendency.
The events for that you should look up

Is called "la panza"

Playing with guide is fine. Playing single player game hotseat with bros acting as navi is comfy.

>Video games aren't a job, you're not meant to optimize and squeeze all you can out of them in the least amount of time possible.

You know, some of us have limited time to enjoy our hobbies. We can't afford to sink 12 hours a day into them.

So this is the power of autism.

fucking casuals
suck each other off instead of playing holy shit

You're right, playing Dark Souls at 30 fps is fucked up

So why not sink 3 hours a day into them and take your time? I honestly don't get this.

Fuck

>know a guy and sometimes talk about video games
>find out he does not actually play video game
>will claim he has played and beat the games because he watched let's plays of it
Even if he uses a walkthrough, at least your brother actually plays the game, op

What? The same boss you kill in DS1 is apparently also the exact same person as a completely different person you kill in DS2, who is thousands of years old, but not really.

Deepest Lore.

What a defensive fucktard you are.

>urr don't hurt my feelings by pointing out my stupidity or make analogies which are absolutely correct and destroy any argument I had

Its the same as playing the game in easy mode, except you don't reduce the combat difficulty, but the trial and error difficulty - which honestly gets way too annoying in souls games often.
Do you need us to explain to you why Easy mode exists and why people choose to use it?

>So why not sink 3 hours a day into them and take your time? I honestly don't get this.

Because not everyone is a kid with 3 hours to waste on a single video game for weeks, or simply chooses not to?

>There are people here who agree with the brother

Holy shit I can't believe this. I'm with you on this one op. I have a 13 yr old brother and he has the shittiest taste in games I've ever seen. I also hate catching him looking shit up instead of just playing the dam game. I would understand if it's an open world and something seemed interesting to check out but doing that most of the game? Like, come the fuck on.

Why did you make a thread? Did you think we would all blindly agree with you and call your friend a fag or something?

>Be in fucking church
>Not even kidding his second son got his first Holy Communion
>His first son is right of my gf
>I'm right next to my gf
>Holy Mass didnt start yet
>She asks him what he is doing in his free time
>He says he is playing Breath of the Wild
>He says its a great game
>She asks him if he plays on the new Nintendo console Switch
>Suddenly his father interrupts
>LOL who wants to play BotW on a Switch
>Gf is confused and asks why its a new console
>He laughs at says 80% of the new Switches were send back because they were defect
>Says the difference between Wii U and Switch version isnt visible
>His son loos emberassed as fuck
>His father continues: I dont know why Aurelio is still playing Zelda its always the same game over and over again
>My gf says that your son enjoyed the game so he can play it
>Idiot says he should grow up ( he is 12 ) and play Battlefield

>I honestly don't get this.

Are you autism? Playing Dark Souls for 3 hours a day would take up every inch of spare time, and probably mean you'd take about 2 months playing the game.

I don't give a shit. It's his game.

What a horrible world we live in. You might as well just kill yourself now

In the end you are at fault for being shitty big brothers who never instilled rivalry in their siblings, teaching them the importance of overcoming your opponent/challenges through your own strength.

Maybe you should've used a guide to do it and then you could've done it.

is this nigga serious

It's not the same as playing the game on easy mode. Someone responded to me by saying you still gotta git good even if you use the walkthrough. It's not spoiling you the difficulty, it's spoiling you the natural progression of playing a video game.
>what a defensive fucktard you are
>analogies which are absolutely correct
I already told you why the analogy isn't correct. I don't care about my feelings being hurt.

3 hours as opposed to 12, learn to read.

I'm not OP and I don't give a shit about his brother. Why would you even take a photo of him.

Wow that's like buying a guide to local restaurants so you don't have to try them beforehand.

>average retard itt can't play a straight forward game
so this is what this board has come to huh

I like how this thread completely backfired on OP.

I know right? It's like buying a map of a city when you go on holiday rather than just stumbling around, frantically asking people where you are for 10 days.

Underage detected

I understand watching a guide if you have problems completing a boss or stage

But playing the game like a fucking robot watching someone else solving every riddle is stupid as fuck.

Imagine you have a riddle book and you must solves the riddles inside.
Instead thinking yourself you watch somebody solve every riddle and write down the answer.

Its fucking stupid and Op brothers is a huge fucking faggot

Playing with a guide is like watching a movie with a guy sitting next to you and spoiling every scene just before it happens.
>See that guy walking in? He's gonna get fucked in a sec!

Filtered for having a gf.

What trial and error shit are you talking about? Souls games arnt typically hard at all.

I've only ever used a guide for Ocarina of Time and N64 Rare games

Confirmed for having an older brother call you out on your shit taste.
>implying such a thing
I try and get this fag to play a variety of different games and to actually beat them. He can't even do that. Looking up guides on how to do practically every little thing just annoys the shit out of me.
It's even worse considering games have gotten so much easier over the past decade or so. Even then, I might give him minor hints in certain games to either lead him to cool stuff or to get his brain working.

>it's spoiling you the natural progression of playing a video game

No it is not?
No you did not, that analogy works. You want to go through a game and have it easy - you can look things up on a walkthrough. You want to go through a city and have it easy? Follow a map or GPS.

Using a walkthrough also doesn't mean you follow it step by step, word by word, it just means you don't bother banging your head against walls endlessly, or spend half the game literally hitting walls to see if they are real.

Its making the game easier than it is and spoils some moments for you, its up to the player to decide if they want to do that or not.
Same as summing players for bosses - if you do 99% chance you'll demolish the boss without difficulty. Its your choice to make.
The fact that you compared it to watching a lets play tells us you are probably stupider than your brother.

That or most arent autist about how other people play.

I dont use guide on first playthrough but I sure give ZERO fuck about how OP brother like to waste his free time.

>people definding the autist in OPs pic

Also false equivalence

The point of visiting a new town is to see the nice things without wasting time

The point of a Dark Souls game is to explore the game on yourself without spoiling everyting.
You go on an advanture in Dark Souls, you explore a world beyond your imagination and Ops brothers is in other words a coward that fears he could miss anything or stumble upon something he cant beat on the first try.
A cowardly approach to a videogame and to life itself

I used a walkthrough to make sure I didn't fuck up NPC quests and to find build critical spells/gear.

...

You're the moron for demanding him to play a certain way.

>The point of a Dark Souls game is

kek. why don't you go get fucked instead of telling people what the point of things is, you massive-foreheaded autismal?

Asking people would be similar to a map. Stumbling around blind for five days as you try to find a place to eat and sleep would be the true way to experience the city.

I don't give a fuck if people do that on their own time, but it comes with two understandings:
1) They cannot brag about an accomplishment because no.
2) They cannot try to ruin my playthrough of the same game just because they looked up the fucking guide.

Also, Souls games are shit anyways, fuck Souls.

Wow who cares

Rude. We also only play during weekend. Currently playing through P5. This fucking game is too damn long.

:^)

Shit dude where are you that you have such weird ass church discussion?

...

I compared it to watching a let's play because it's a heavy spoiler on secrets, story and level design. You're following someone else's footsteps, you're experiencing the game in his wake, which is exactly what you do with watching a let's play, except you don't try and play the game yourself afterwards.

The gps analogy doesn't work either. I always want to go through a city and have it easy. It's a mandatory thing for getting from point A to point B. It's not a leisure time activity, and if it was, I'd drive around roads I haven't seen before and I'd take my time listening to music instead of rushing the optimized route.

The natural progression is ruined, because you don't have to think for yourself. You always do what you're told, you don't get to experience the game in your own way.

I'm not OP and I don't have a brother.

Different strokes for different folks user.

Your names add nothing to the discussion. If you want a persistent identity, please go to Reddit.

No, the world has retards who can't keep up, and me. Objectively shit at video games if you look stuff up

YouTube guides are wrong but wikis are okay.

I miss the old days when people actually felt the need to challenge themselves. This explains why kids act the way they do these days.

Seriously. Who the fuck would watch or read and entire walk through of a game just to mimic it? Since you fags like to use analogies, it's like having a friend tell you everything that happens in a movie from start to finish. What incentive would you have to go watch the movie right after?

How do you even follow a walkthrough for Souls games? It's not like you can pause the game to check it regularly, it would do him better to just get maps from Fextra if he doesn't want to miss loot.

ITT: Autism

I'm just stating objective facts.

There is no point playing a videogame like Dark Souls with this attitude.
Its illogical and in other words autistic.

Thats a huge red flag for autism i'm not even kidding.
Autists alwas want to finish games with accuracy.
Thats the reason autists build so many shit in Minecraft with precision.
Same applies here: Ops brother has autism and he wants to finish the game without hassle and with everything in it.

Someone justify saving soltaire without using a guide.
That's right.
You fucking can't.

Thanks faggot, now no one can watch Shawshank.

The only times I ever used a guide in Souls games is when I can't figure out where to go next. Like in DS2 I didn't think to go back towards Tower of Flame because a new Npc would appear to open a path.

Also, a few times I'll have been fighting and very heavy on souls, low on health, and in deep unfamiliar territory. I looked up a guide to see how close the next bonfire is

>old days
Wtf are you talking about? Game guides have been around since fucking forever.

>Reddit spacing
fuck off

>uses Reddit spacing
Like pottery.

>Shield of Want
>Abyss Watchers Set
Kill your brother.

>I'm not OP
sure you are not, lol

Not everyone enjoys the same thing the same way you do. Someone licks his icecream for 20 minutes, the other guy wolfs it down in 2.

Considering these games can get specifically frustrating at times, having a walkthrough open, or even just the maps (lol "spoils" level design, are you kidding me?) helps remove that frustration. Its exactly the same as setting an action game on easy mode.
Some people would rather see all the content for themselves while not bothering with finding it all by themselves, they'll still get to enjoy fighting through the game, they just won't waste an extra 50 hours backtracking to find crap they missed.

Its this simple. I'm pretty sure this hate is stemming from these people ending up with all the same acheivements and "gamer cred" or something as you without working as much on it. In which case - I hope you still feel this way, nothing worse than some faggot being so proud about beating a video game.

This user gets it.
Nothing comes out of the Ops brother. Nothing .
Vidya is an interactive medium where game developers try to face you with a challange.
Dark Souls isnt that hard but for most normies its extremly hard to beat.

The point beating the game is to master the challange.
Its okay to ask for help if you are stuck because sometimes the challange can be frustrating but this is just absurd.

i used to do this shit with every rpg lol

filtered

Every time you fucking faggot

I did the same thing with Dark Souls and Bloodborne to get explanations on the stuff I see and the lore

It's fine to do that.
Having a map is only logical. However using a youtube guide is crossing the line because it ruins everything.

>there are people actually defending this

This board is fucking dead.

Is this a an epic new maymay i missed ?
The spacing is automaticly genereted by the Sup Forums site you sperglords

Yeah, dude, if only people finished your favorite blip blop games the way you want, the world would be a better place.

Fuck off, no one has time to indulge in a chinese man's masocore wet dream in order to find fun after 50 hours of playthrough.

I use guides and I encourage everyone that wants to start playing Souls games to use one too, because they're simply unfair and have too much trial and error. This way, I reduce the experience from 50 hours of bloated content to 15 hours of just the actual battles (which are only fun in co-op anyway).

>The spacing is automaticly genereted by the Sup Forums site you sperglords
You are fucking retarded.
Watch.
This.
No.
Spacing.

playing with a guide is fun too, like i played persona 4 golden with a very specific guide, so you get like optimum social points or whatever making friends is called. get to see all the game, don't need to worry about missing your waifu relationship due to not reading the right book or whatever, is relaxing.

Says the newfag

>Playing demon's souls the other day, RPing as Ostrava.
>Going back through Valley of Defilement trying to get all the items
>Can't remember how to get these two items
>There's a plank, so I walk off the plank, die, lose human form and white tendency
>Walk around for like 15 minutes; can't find any way to get these items other than drop
>Drop again and die again
>Fuck it, I use a YT walkthrough
>Guide shows dude walking off plank and landing safely

>I use guides and I encourage everyone that wants to start playing Souls games to use one too, because they're simply unfair and have too much trial and error.
Please fucking kill yourself.

Bet my ass you still check wikis to learn stuff about these games.
Did you fuck around for weeks to figure out World Tendency on your own, to summon all possible phantoms in the game?

who am I kidding you didn't play DeS

You're completely right but not because it's hard. Souls games have too many secrets that you will miss if you don't use wikis to spot loot. You should periodically check the wikis to see if you're getting all the loot in the area or not.

stop being retarded, you had to shell out 50$ for guides back in the day, now you get it for free

Kill him in his sleep, it's the only way to fix your parents' mistake.

This. But I'd still play the game on my own for the first time

Game guides only existed online on sites like ign. Most kids did not go online to find out how to beat a game. Most kids went online to get cheat codes and learn how to do fatalities.

Strategy guides you bought in the store weren't walkthroughs either. They just had a lot of info about the game and showed ways to get some of the hidden items. People also got them for the artwork and such.
Go fuck yourself. What are you gonna do if a new souls game comes out, wait for guides to be made instead of playing it?

This shit isn't even about souls games, it's about all games period.

I think it's just autism. He's not doing it because he's shit at the game, he's doing it because he's afraid of missing content.

>I'm just stating objective facts.

YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG

wew. How many things have you banged your oversized cranium on in this thread alone?

Don't listen to this user, he is your brother. He's going to booby trap his room this evening and kill you.

user I just want you to know that you're right
