They fucked it up so bad, Rest In Peace Dawn of War, killed by fucking MOBA faggotry
>Play Beta >Finally start playing after getting used to ugly artstyle >3v3 match >Map is a shitty three lane sequence layout, but whatever, it might be fun despite being obviously a narrow map like Dota >No cover mechanics >Annoyed, but whatever, let's try capping this resource point >DUDE LMAO, THE ELDAR POPPED A SPECIAL GLOBAL ABILITY! LIGHTNING OUTTA THE SKY DUDE JUST LIKE A MOBA >DUDE LMAO IS THAT AN ELITE? YOURE FUCKED NOW BOY, YOU CANT BEAT AN ELITE PREPARE FOR FRANKEN GABRIEL >DUDE >DUUUUUUUDE ITS TOTALLY NOT A MOBA BUT IT IS
Fuck everything about this god damn shit, I tried to give it a chance but everything about it is obnoxious Esports faggotry to it's core and I hope Relic gets fucking shut down for this bullshit.
Adrian Hill
Global abilities have been a thing even in CNC General. Is that a MOBA now?
Andrew Garcia
get good
Adam Cook
>playing an rts that is trying to be esports from a developer without any competitive rts pedigree >it's shit literally every time. sc2 flopped HARD and it had all the money and pedigree of broodwar, why the fuck did you think dow3 would be good?
Charles Gutierrez
The point is, everything's been made into snowballing mechanics and the game is a weird hybrid of MOBA and RTS and it's shit as a result
Hunter Rogers
Regardless of its obvious issue, what is intrinsically MOBA about snowballing?
David Garcia
>is a weird hybrid of MOBA and RTS >MOBA and RTS You do realize that MOBAs are born out of modern RTS right? And that so called MOBA mechanics are all blueprinted in modern RTS.
Brandon Parker
Wait are you that shitter that got BTFO in the thread last night? 'Cuz I'ma do it again.
>Global Abilities can't even be used until about the 20 minute mark, unless they're specifically rushing T3, in which case they only have basic infantry and will have no Power for anything else for awhile >The Eldar Global, Eldritch Storm, has been in DoW since the very beginning, and was more moba-like in the fucking first iteration than it is now >Every elite aside from Gabe and the Knights can be killed by roughly four squads with good placement, and even then Gabe can be brought down pretty fast and the Knights can be stunned down. >Using an Elite or a Global costs too much to be dropped early, outside of a few cheap elites that are only good for surprise attacks >The only map in the Beta that had anything close to lanes was the 1v1 map, which weren't really even lanes. The 3v3 map is literally layered circles >More cover mechanics than DoW1, actually, as you now have proper ambush tactics and counter-cover maneuvers now
Git fucking gud you twat.
Brandon Wright
You are shit and so is your waifu, you're game will be dead in a week, now kys you faggot
Kevin Miller
Wonderful argument, you double mon'keigh, now just admit how bad you are.
Dylan Morgan
yo I'm not op, but the real problem is unit sluggishness(things don't move quickly when you press them) and the game design balance makes the elite units your heroes compared to the line units being creeps. that is how it's moba like the most I think.
I've played quite a bit of all the races now so I can finally grasp it. in short your hero unit will instagib any one line unit. Minor but legitimately fixable things go to map layout being shit, Elite balance still being off.
ALSO this ones personal preference but I don't see the point of keeping the power/req system if they have consolidated them both into a single resource point. No exceptions. also you are awlays grasping for power as a finite resource(as somone that loved armoured assaults in the previous game/s , this makes me sad as you will always have a ratio of like 6-7 infantry to one vehicle due to lacking power, even in late game. I was sorta hoping I could choose what to build on each resource node but it's predefined.
ahhwell, onto other games
Nolan Adams
the game is pretty trash, but I can tell you're shit at rts games too.
Michael James
>He never played Dawn of War before in his life HAHAHAHAH HOLY SHIT BOY YOU DON'T KNOW FUCK ALL HAAHAHAHAHAhahahahahahahahehehehehehhehehehhHAHAHAHHAohohohohohohohohohoohohoho How can one person be so fucking clueless about a game series
Dawn of war 1 >Elites that can wreck armies >Maps with three lanes >Global Abilities >Cover mechanics based around circle points on the map
Aiden Sanders
Threadly reminder a drunk russian can win a game of dow3 in 12 minutes with a dred solo tanking the 'invincible moba towers that stall the game forever'.
And shitposters are confirmed to be 3v3 only shitters.
Michael Cruz
How do I get into Eldar? They're cool and I wanna play as them.
Xavier Gutierrez
It's hilarious how bald faced retarded people try to act genuine "knowledgeable" when they flat out don't know shit.
Brody Hughes
>People defending this abortion of a game simply because "YOU CAN STILL WIN EASY SO THAT MEANS ITS GOOD"
Doesn't change the fact that the game is a horrible RTS that lacks depth and is aping DOTA
Easton Morgan
Game has huge micro skill ceiling. If it weren't only 3 races I'd fully endorse it but I can see the 3 getting kind of dull after a while. Space marines dont look beefy enough but orks in this game are pretty cool. waagh towers are the best. It aint as bad as Sup Forums wants you to think.
Adam Kelly
This.

>Lots of Webway gates, need full coverage >Rangers are Godly, though en masse they can be countered by anyone with a brain >If Banshees start the fight with Assault Marines, they win >Wraithguard are among the strongest units in the game, even above a good number of Elites >If you have problems with an enemy Knight, send Wraithblades >Taldeer has the highest sheer damage output of the Knights, but also the lowest health by a long shot. Be careful with her. >Macha is extremely strong early game, and has an incredibly useful passive ability for your other two Elites >Never over-extend or else you'll lost your entire force, Elites and all, to smaller armies. >If your allies are making infantry, go Fire Prisms. They ignore terrain and can fuck up the enemy real good.
Carter Smith
>Dawn of war 1 >Elites that can wreck armies >Maps with three lanes >Global Abilities This is bait... right?
Hudson Foster
Can you play as them in DoW 1 + 2?
Owen Russell
Catastrophic as a DoW sequel. Mediocre as a RTS.

not to mention >enemy SM is spamming dreadnoughts
Brody Martin
10/10 bait OP.
Anyone who has actually played the game knows it's nothing like a MOBA besides the turret/core system.
I do agree though that 3 and 4 point elites need less damage and more health. They're way too strong in the early game and way too fragile in the lategame but that can be fixed with number tweaks.
Caleb Hernandez
was actually kinda interested in this, even after the mess that was DoW2, but
>steam required nope
Ryan Moore
The bubble shield is essentially just towers, the game is designed to be exactly like a MOBA
Anthony Russell
This was me. 2v2v2 with my Chaos friend as I go SM Tech to tier 3, load up my drop pod building thing with Both terminators and dreadnoughts, use a single assault marines trooper to jump over walls and into enemy base. PROCEED TO LAY DOWN MULTIPLE AND SIMULTANEOUS DROP PODS Follow them up with an immediate orbital strike while making use of the invulnerability of the librarian How anyone can think DoW3 is different to DoW1 can only be explained by them never having played the original
Cooper Bailey
No units 3 buildings Core defence Strategic points are where you build power generators
Joseph Moore
Why not just release a mode with elites disabled?
Mason Bennett
>The bubble shield is essentially just towers
U fakkin' wot m8.
Caleb Bailey
yeah it's shit
Hunter Davis
>He never used Assault terminators with the Force Commander, Chaplain or Librarian Though strong Assault terminators cant "wreck armies" and are pretty easy to counter
>He never built a Necron monolith within teleport range of his opponents base Monolith is a tier 4 relic unit and one of the weakest ones at that, its very easy to take down with AV weapons.
>single most popular map in Dawn of war 1.Kasyr lutian Kasyr Lutien doesn't have 3 lanes, its a 3v3 map with 3 choke points at the entrance points and a massive open area, nor is it "the most popular map"
Ayden Perez
You put snipers in it and forget about it. They are placed at places of the map that prevent pushing. They are towers
Easton Richardson
>kill 4 ass marines squads >other player still could rush to tier2 and build a bunch of speeders and keep calling more ass marines The fuck
Lincoln Moore
That is literally the easiest way to lose snipers, because every single melee unit will waltz right in and fuck you up before you get a second volley off.
Hell, Assault Marines will just rape them with virtually no resistance. Jesus fuck are you this bad?
John Jones
>Map is a shitty three lane sequence layout, but whatever, it might be fun despite being obviously a narrow map like Dota
You do know that every DoW has had maps with lanes right?
Especially 3v3 maps.
>Annoyed, but whatever, let's try capping this resource point >DUDE LMAO, THE ELDAR POPPED A SPECIAL GLOBAL ABILITY! LIGHTNING OUTTA THE SKY DUDE JUST LIKE A MOBA
You only decided to cap your natural after the enemy Eldar reached T3?

>Soulstorm and Winter Assault better than Dark Crusade
Camden Morris
Name me one elite that can solo an army in Dawn of war 3 Protip, you can't Elites in DoW3 are weak as fuck vs their counter. I.e massed lascannon or heavy bolter and their equivalent. I've seen Knights drop in seconds multiple games.
The Monolith was an example, it's an elite unit as was the baneblade and other stupidly OP units, they have high damage, good abilities but can be countered easily enough. JUST LIKE IN DAWN OF WAR 3, which is the point.
Dawn of War 1's Kasyr Lutien was the most popular map during the release period and the year or two after. You're just proving you were most likely a baby at the time the game was released and you don't know shit.
The current 3v3 map in DoW3 has multiple entrances to the base and the centre is an arena with a circle around it. In no way is it anything like a MOBA map any more than Kasyr lutien was.
You're either 17-24 years old and dumb as fuck or trolling. Either way you don't know shit about Dawn of War and you certainly don't know fuck all about MOBAs and Dawn of War 3
Hudson Martinez
Are the single player maps lane style?
Jonathan Adams
The single player map we've had during the Beta, is a two parallel line map with capture points off to the sides, each team has a forward defendable high rise which over looks the maps only elite point capture on the map
Kevin Morales
Correct both SS and WA were better than DC
Jose Hall
Dark Crusade and Soulstorm are pretty much the same game minus the additional factions and maps
Jonathan Fisher
It's also important to note that each side "lane" itself has rear openings to allow for sneaky attacks from behind as well as resource raiding
Gavin Cox
Don't fall for this bait image, this faggot also loves spamming his shitty "see how many people are playing Soulstorm compared to Dark Crusade on steam" image
Leo Bell
You are the one who claimed elites in DoW1 could "wreck armies"

I'd agree with you if not for the fact that DotA wasn't born out of WCIII as a whole, but just the RPG aspect of it, which was the hero, and just put the pedal to the metal.
mouse-controlled movement and the camera are the only RTS things about MOBA, just as it was in the original DotA.
Landon Wilson
Who cares
The game has already failed. Go look at the numbers, barely 12k for a free public open beta. This is a series thats used to moving millions of copies. People obviously just dont give a shit that doesnt deliver the 40k feel of 1 or even 2.
DoW died with the rest of RTS ages ago. Let it go.
Zachary Butler
And like that, you're done.
Kayden Torres
>double posting I messed the link up so i fixed it, problem?
Nolan Lopez
They can turn the tide with their abilities, they are easily comparable to elites in DoW3
You can quote me on this >Elites in Dawn of War 1 and 3 are easy to counter by a well equipped opponent but effective at pushing to victory if supported correctly. A well landed Orbital strike or Eldrich storm in DoW1 could easily open a base defence or push an entrenched army from their fortifications and cover. An elite unit or global ability in Dow 3 backed up properly can easily do the same.
If this is the best thing you can say about the rest of the argument then we're done here.
Connor Roberts
I guess I'm just disappointed that they literally had to do just the simplest thing and failed on a magnitude not even thought possible
Adam Sullivan
>Dark Crusade and Soulstorm are pretty much the same game No, no they are not.
Parker Anderson
DoW2 beta was the last time I cared about DoW desu DoW1 was so good, but the massive shift this game got in the sequel was when I called quits.
Connor Turner
You have never actually played DoW1 against another human opponent before, have you?
Isaac Young
Ironically if they had made a moba it would have been better than this.
Elijah Evans
I would have been fine with that, my problem is slamming an RTS and a MOBA together and calling it Dawn of War 3 when it's a Frankenstein abomination
Jose Martin
>really want to play Dow3 >actually looks fun as fug >love the look of my Orks and the gameplay >my laptop is so shit that it crashes when I try to close the program >mfw would have to drop €1000 for an upgrade

>3v3 >Teams immediately grab top/bottom point >Whoever wins the middle point can hold it until well into T2 because lolimprovedlisteningpost >Advantage snowballs if the other team can't disrupt mid >Can't attack top or bottom cause the only access routes are narrow chokepoints
I like the game, though. I have a suspicion it's just the maps that are shit.
Ian Turner
>I have nothing to say so I will try and pretend I have superior knowledge by ignoring everything said and simply saying "lol no ur stoopid" Shut up faggot your rhetoric of elites and global abilities being somehow immersurably different between dow1 and 3 is shit If anything the power of the original Orbital bombardment in DoW1 is far more potent than it is in dow 3, especially since you have to put down a capturable building which can completely counter it
Carson Hall
Jesus Christ user I would 3v3 pub Kasyr Lutien like a druggy in my teens in Dow1. Orbital Bombardment was absolutely shit. Super easy to telegraph and redeploy your units out of the way.
If you weren't blind you could knock the force commander down before he even got it off allowing greater time to redeploy.
Camden Harris
Ill say it again, you have never actually played DoW1 vs a human before have you?
Andrew Moore
the moba and one button awesome audience
Oliver Robinson
If the enemy team only puts a listening post on the mid point you can still melt it with a couple dire avengers or snipers (orks are boned though).
The real problem are forwards bases, if they set up a forward base on the middle point there's no real way to punish it until mid t2/early t3 and it's easy to snowball from it, THAT is bullshit..
Carter Fisher
>no cover >bushes that give stealth >literal moba win conditions
And for all the hyping of bringing back base building, it just feels really fucking dull and boring.
Adam Jones
I really like the game, and it's probably my favorite RTS since StarCraft 2. Really hyped about playing the full game. A couple of opinions of my own:
-I do not think elites in general are too powerful. It's a very cool momentum shift when the elites hit the field and both sides are forced to adjust to each other's choices.
-I'm a bit torn on super abilities. I almost think the game would be better without them, but I'm not 100% sure yet. However, I do like how each one of them has a counter-play, and I like that they cost elite points.
-The learning curve is steep but I find that to be a good thing. I think there's a pretty huge skill cap to be had.
Technical suggestions/issues
-Customizable hotkeys would be a wonderful addition.
-On the loading screen allow players to hover over the different Elites and Doctrines so that we can see exactly what they do without having to memorize the portraits.
-It would be nice to have a more visual indicator of rally points. It's a bit of a pain to look at the minimap and try to pinpoint the flag when it's the same color as everything else.
-Allow players to look through codex, etc while searching for a game.
-I don't really understand some things in the codex. Does anybody know why unit costs are so different from when you're in game? Example: tactical marines are listed at 80 req in the codex, but cost 400 req in game.
Jack Scott
If you were using the Oribtal bombardment in a skirmish in the middle of the map you were indeed a retard, if you were using it as part of a drop inside a base it was fantastic at knocking out structures, powerplants and did about 50% Hp to main buildings Trying to pretend you were some super awesome teenage player that laughed off all the global abilities in Dow1 is just embarassing
Image proves nothing (also he linked the soulstorm stats... wow) Statement proves nothing
Xavier Johnson
Skeptic here and DoW 2 fan here. Wasn’t really feeling it but played the beta/demo, going into it like playing a 40k RTS.
Game was enjoyable for what it is, by no means bad, but not what I was looking for in a sequel. Played some Space Marines and Orks and found some of the new mechanics enjoyable and entertaining but had my fair share of confusing moments and was surprised by the fact that I won every game I participated in which was an even bigger surprise. These are the main things I took away from the experience:
• Early game and Resource control feels like a good mix of keeping your field presence, preserving your forces and good risk rewards for going other strategies/macro builds;
• Early game elites are pretty powerfull but can be countered, they provide invaluable support and abilities, late game elites are major game changers and I am particularly ambivalent towards those;
• Maps felt too simplistic and too confined to certain routes that you have to take, especially so with late game clashes.
• Not too sure about the late game and how resources/army compositions and how the lack of scaling units. Vehicles are also really hit or miss.
• Game mode, as it stands now, is interesting but artificially slows things down things at time. I like the idea of objective driven battles, but it feels really hit and miss sometimes.
I’m going to be looking at the reviews and seeing what people actually say about the game on release; how things will progress with DLC and elite selection, expansion of races and the Necrons that are all but confirmed at this point.
Eli Martinez
Just teleport flank with weirdboy as orkz
I have not lost a single game as orkz with the 37 hours I played the beta.
Also fuck retards who said Big Mek was bad. He is fucking amazing if you play him correctly
Carson Brooks
It's got the exact same cover mechanic as the first dawn of war, are you mental? The brush idea is fine, what is the issue with that? Moba win conditions, I'll only give you this one if every map is like this, we'll see in a few days.
Mason Thomas
>Dark Crusade hate is this a meme or what
Christopher Smith
For me, dow3>dow2>dow1, and i loved all, but man, this game is just fantastic, at least 1 vs 1 which is what i play
Jack Rivera
>okay we're going to make an new dawn of war >we have 2 games of iterative design and gameplay experience that we could draw from >lol lets fuck up the entire thing
>don't learn from anything from either of the 2 games >take parts from each that people disliked >copy starcraft 2 which nobody gives a shit about any more >moba influence that permeates every level of gameplay >bad visual aesthetic makes the units look jarring and out of place against the map >visual effect system so over the top it overwhelms the already poor aesthetic >boring, unmemorable sound design >maps are bland and uninteresting >units are too weak >elites are too strong >games have no tension because there's no hot spots on the map to naturally fight over (VPs) >base building is pointless because the objective is the power core, can completely ignore buildings to win >power core and turrets look the same across all 3 armies (why?)
in b4 "shill" or "you didn't play it"
Asher Turner
>Trying to pretend you were some super awesome teenage player that laughed off
No user. I never stated that. I did imply however I've been on the receiving end. And if you were any way half way good or with a half way decent team, you could stop scouts infiltrating your base and prevent that. So in the other circumstance where they'd use it in a skirmish it was easy as piss to dodge.
Get off your high horse or better yet, take a break and quit venting on this board like an idiot.
Mason Russell
Wew and by your description dow 1 and 2 is a moba. Only difference is you have another goal apart from remove all buildings
Connor Flores
yes, this is the guy who likes to spam his image showing more people play soulstorm than dark crusade as if that means it's better.
Logan Torres
Have you never been in a warhammer 40K thread on Sup Forums?
It's an edit of one of the most fucking posted meme images.

>also he linked the soulstorm stats Is this bait?
Not only were OB stats unchanged in SS, SS is the most recent and most played version of the game.
