Playstation Eyetoy kicked off this whole shitshow in 2003. Wii went its own way with the controller, but Kinect blindly copied that failure thinking they could somehow make it succesful. Then Sony came back dumb enough to think they too could make it work again. And I guess a third time with Playstation VR. Everyone dirtied their hands with this.
