Y they no do dis?
Hell, they can just release a Vita 3000 that supports SD cards and they'll be golden.
Jewish tricks done wrong.
Also you forgot to add a HDMI port like it was planned instead making a second console to jew even more money.
Supporting normal SD cards would have been more than enough for people to buy it.
The only problem is that using non-proprietary memory cards opens the thing up to piracy as a vulnerability.
Not like it matters anymore since it got cracked. But it took 4 years, so it certainly helped.
Mostly was because the hacking situation was a fucking joke.
Attention whoring and sekrit clubs for 4 years, nothing was ever public.
>Y they no do dis?
Back to 9gag faget
True. And now nobody wants to touch the console because it's basically dead and hacking it post-6.60 wouldn't result in fame and glory.
Attention whores the lot of them. Though can I really talk shit about them when I'm but a leech?
>Use standard SD cards
Fat chance, sony will never, ever make a decent portable.
because hardware stopped being hugely profitable in the fucking early 90's
selling the games printed on .001 cent disks/downloads are way more profitable then the hardware itself
even cartages are more profitable then selling consoles
and you want backwards compatibility?
lol at your life
The vita is even dying at japan at this point unless they could make a vita 2 that could stand toe to toe with the switch its dead
kill yourself you fucking nigger I'm in a good mood
It would be great if they can release a new portable with a 720p-1080p OLED screen.
>under $200/£200
>With no propriety memory
Lol
Will Sony abandon this one after 2 years again too?
9gag is filled with alt right whining just like Sup Forums, no difference
>>Release Vita 2
Impying they will release a Vita 2 when even Nintendo will stop making handheld consoles. We mobile now
>take Nintendo Switch
>make the controls built into the gamepad
>make a playstation OS for it
>put a playstation logo on it
>still make a profit by selling it at $200
Nintendo has put themselves in an absolutely retarded position with the Switch and it wouldn't be hard to knock them down.
>The vita is even dying at japan
Bic Camera Yurakucho. All the Bic Camera and Yodobashi Camera stores are pretty much like this.
the decline is starting companies are moving to release the weeb games to switch. the vita is starting its roll down but currently somewhat fine in japan. tho its still super dead in the us
Yeah so sell the cheaper hardware, let people use SD cards and sell games digitally on the PS Store...
>take Nvidia Shield
>make the screen smaller
>make the screen lower resolution
>make the battery smaller
>underclock the CPU by 50%
>underclock the GPU by 50%
>remove the camera
>remove the microphone
>remove the Android OS
>add a proprietary cartridge slot
>put a bunch of gimmicky redundant tech in the controllers
>make a shitty OS for it
>put a nintendo logo on it
>sell it for $100 more than an Nvidia Shield
extremely, absolutely retarded position.
Things do not scale down perfectly in price just because your parts are weaker you dipshit
You can't build a vita for anything less then 50 bucks, and that is by today's standers on the old vita
also, the games selling on the vita are not Sony games
so they don't see much of dick from games sales anyways
>Nvidia Shield
>good product
You did see it was running android yes?
Handhelds are fucking dead.
Barely any shit worth playing, even if you do bother cracking it.
Vita has a bigger release schedule than the switch in Japan. Maybe in a year devs will make the switch but I will remind you the psp was still getting games last year. Hell it got more games than the wiiu. Third party hates Nintendo.
>take Nvidia Shield
>make the screen smaller
>make the screen lower resolution
>make the battery smaller
>underclock the CPU by 50%
>underclock the GPU by 50%
>remove the camera
>remove the microphone
>remove the Android OS
>add a proprietary cartridge slot
>make a shitty OS for it
>put a nintendo logo on it
>sell it for $100 more than an Nvidia Shield
removed the controller part since the Shield/controller already does what the joycons do including infrared, wireless radios, gyroscope and rumble.
so it's literally a dramatically worse product than an Nvidia Shield but also $100 more for no intelligible reason.
>android
>bad
you haven't hit your cocksucking quota for the day, better get back to it instead of posting on Sup Forums.
>so it's literally a dramatically worse product than an Nvidia Shield but also $100 more for no intelligible reason.
You can play mario and zelda and pokemon on it.
But it plays Nintendo games so it's instantly better than that garbage.
>>android
>good for gaming
I see you like Mario run huh?
you have to remember sony only sees the money from the console selling which is falling in japan. unless sony wants to try another handhold try there wont be another vita. I kinda want a vita 2 but only if they do stop doing there retarded memory card shit
that's bullshit, a lot of consoles have accepted non propietary memory and took as much or even more time to get properly cracked, the propietary memory was to milk the consumer, for that reason too the console is "region-free" but you need to have a memory card per account, or how you can't backup only the save of digital games if you don't have PS+. The machine itself it's superb, but the jewishness killed it.
you can emulate any nintendo game up to gamecube on an Nvidia Shield, as well as plenty of other consoles, not to mention there are currently more official Nintendo games on the appstore than there are on the Switch.
The only reason it's $100 more is because literally nobody bought the shield. And that Switch is brand new.
>sony only sees the money from the console selling which is falling in japan
Why should I or third party care about sony's bottem line? I dont own sony stocks. Vita is still getting games and it will continue until the end of the year. By then I have no doubt that devs will start moving over to switch but the vita but it would have been a good run for the vita. Currently the switch's third party lineup is really bad.
I can also do that on my pc, laptop, Wii, WiiU and Oneplus 3T.
Can the shield play Switch games? Will it play the new Nintendo games? No?
Then it's worthless.
They probably needed a 3DS successor and now they have a Wii U and 3DS successor in one.
>But the Switch won't rep-
Yeah, say that to the Gameboy line.
Nvidia Shield barely scrapes by with gamecube emulation which more or less guarantees the Switch wont be able to do it, since the shield is actually better than the switch.
Sony could easily topple the switch with a new vita. At the same price as the switch, it would be a much beefier device in terms of power and battery size - but they wouldn't even really need to do that when they could get away with essentially copying everything about the switch, remove all the redundant retarded controller gimmick shit, and still be able to profit off it by selling it at the same price range as the Shield.
Nintendo's anus would immediately prolapse.
that's a hefty implication to assume Switch games will be worth it when there has yet to be a game for it that's worth it.
>Literally pitching the Vita 2 TV
>"Nintendoids anus would prolapse"
Lol the delusion
Is it weird that I want the switch to do soo amazing that it convinces sony that there is a market for a new handheld?
>"PSVita sucks sonyfags btfo"
>Nintendo Vita
>"haha sonyfags btfo"
>Sony PSVita 2
>"haha its just a ps vita sonyfags btfo"
nice insight.
There's 5 games on my radar that are instant buys. So yeah.
Also
>Don't buy a switch for new nitnendo games! Buy a shield!
>Why?
>To play old Nintendo games of course!
Kek
>Nintendo Vita
It's a 0DS
I'm with you, those people are retarded. I just don't care for the current games on the switch and I don't think it's worth the price. Also, first run of nintendo products are all trash.
I want the switch to do well, but I am waiting for a price drop, a new model, and games not made by nintendo.
buy a shield to play any old games, a gorillion app games, or use any number of apps and functionality to make it an all-around general purpose device.
I have yet to see any reason why anyone with a smartphone would be a Nintendo Switch. The only thing it does it play Nintendo Switch games, and there aren't that many anyway. You cant watch youtube on it, you can't watch twitch on it, you can't use the internet on it, you can't check your mail, you can't chat with friends, you can't even access the fucking Miiverse, you can't playback media or audio files - there is absolutely zero utility to the piece of shit and it doesn't even have games to play. At least a launch PS3 doubled as a bluray player and multimedia device.
there's basically zero reason for the Switch to even exist at this point and could very well have been launched in 2018 when it actually had games ready to go along with it, as well as an entire year of extra software and system support features built-in.
Bullshit. If there were games worth pirating it would have been cracked faster because more people would have been interested.
It probably would have been busted faster, yeah, but because people would be buying them for homebrew shit. Instead nobody bought one. Piracy really wasn't a big factor, just an excuse for the miscalculation that more people would take Sony's word and invest in their format.
>I have yet to see any reason why anyone with a smartphone would be a Nintendo Switch
For new fucking nitnendo games. The reason literally anyone buys any Nintendo system you massive retard.
Why the fuck would anyone with a smartphone buy a shield? You have everything backwards you idiot.
Here is how you make a new handheld to go toe to toe with the switch
1. take the PS4 APU, which is already a laptop chipset and downclock the shit out of it along with developing a more efficient die so it wont be a power hog like it currently is
2. put the largest battery you have in your inventory in it
3.make a shell similar to the vita with an HDMI out
4. make it compatible with the PS4 library, basically make a reverse pro, low power sku PS4 made for mobile fun
5. make so every new PS4 game has to run in 3 modes, portable, normal, pro
6 MARKET THE THING FOR GOD SAKES, dont act like handhelds are dead just because home consoles are taking you out of the red right now
while Im at it, hey Microsoft, want to blow both of them out of the water in the handheld market?
You know those surface tablet laptop things you make? slap a controller on the frame of that thing and make it dual boot to the W10 version of the xbone, presto, loads of cash
So it will run worse than the og ps4?
Gee Id love to play every game at 20fps
>doesn't read the whole post
what new fucking nintendo games, smartass
what
new
fucking
nintendo
games
Zelda? The game on the fucking Wii U?
Mario Kart? The game on the fucking Wii U?
Fast racing? The game on the fucking Wii U?
what new fucking nintendo games
the ones you're hoping for in your dreams? Aka the reason people bought Wii U's and never received those games? The first goddamn fucking demonstration of a Wii U running had a Zelda game that not only never existed, but took 5 years to finally come out in one form or another.
>See Zelda Wii U demonstration
>think it looks rad
>tell myself i'll definitely be getting a Wii U when it gets Zelda
>never get a Wii U
read the post
If you give it a 720p screen and optimize the games to run on a much lower resolution, you will still get a base 30 fps on most games, or even lower resolutions, the vita had games running at PSP resolutions and the 3DS was 240p for ages, small screens hide jaggies and lower resolutions, you dont need 4k on a 5in screen
But hey, sony does make 4k 5in screens, so if they are crazy enough, they could use them too
Wew lad it's almost like it takes a while for console game library to build up.
There's like 8 big games coming within the first 8 months. I could list them but there's a 2000% chance you'll shitpost them to fit your delusional view of reality
The ps4 is only now getting a decent flow of good games. 4 fucking years later.
you are a fucking retard for so many reasons it hurts
The surface pro STARTS at a grand
just putting the ps4s cpu on a custom itx would cost as much as the switch's production
I'm not even going to go on
just holy shit dude
I'm sure developers will all jump at the opportunity to spend time and resources optimising their games for the Vita 2 kek
Because Nintendo has Pokemon, Sony doesn't. Even if Ace Attorney, Layton, Dragon Quest, and Monster Hunter went to Sony, Nintendo's handheld will DESTROY it because of Pokemon. Pokemon is a juggernaut.
Launch PS3 was also backwards compatible with PS2 games so that helped too.
Switch isn't backwards compatible with anything.
Cough ps4 cough
Switch doesn't play PS4 games
The funniest thing about this post is that Switch could possibly have the largest amount 1st party support ever. Considering that Nintendo no longer will have their software split across two console/handheld platforms.
If Switch has a consolidated library it will have compete focus on resources and development for it and it alone.
Shit, they merged their handheld and console studios all to the same HQ's probably for this very reason a few years back in preparation it seems.
Ps4 isn't b/c
Xbone making a new 360 game b/c every other week is pretty much the ONLY decent thing they do. And then they tend to give that game away for free with Gold.
Fucking Gold blows PS+ away. I'm mad as hell.
>want some games on the switch but don't want the retarded tablet design for a portable that doesn't even have a fucking d-pad
>if it does ever get a portable variant it'll lose gimmicks like the joycon hd rumble
fuck this thing.
The Vita was barely profitable in a very hostile and rapidly changing market.
Even nintendo knew to get out of mobile consoles while they had a chance, and even they could barely save the 3DS from it's mediocre launch.
PS4 still does a gorillion more things from it's OS than a Switch can.
You forget that sony is desperate to go bankrupt, their response to any branch losing money is to double down.
Wow. Who gives a fuck? Nobody cares you can use Spotify on a ps4.
The Switch is pretty fucking comfy. The games are coming by the way. It's getting pretty strong support from Jap devs. There's more than just Zelda.
those nintentears.
>this dense
What is
ARMS
Mario Odyssey
Xenoblade 2
Octopath Traveler
New SMT
>a console with uncomfortable controls is comfy
>a console without any fun games is comfy
>a console you can't watch comfy movies on is comfy
The Switch is pretty fucking (((marketed))).
Have you held a switch? It's pretty fucking comfy.
Subjective on what you mean by fun.
Why wouldn't I just use my phone to watch movies?
Nintendo doesn't want to bloat the console up with a bunch of needless features.
I literally own two PS4's.
Name one of these media features on ps4 i would use over simply using them on my expensive as fuck phone
The little gap between the tablet and joycons triggers the fuck out of me.
its a flimsy delicate piece of shit. the locking mechanism are just little bits of plastic smaller than a fingernail.
>Release Vita 2
>It can emulate ps2 games
>Fucking market it as "lol remember all those ps2 games you loved, you can play them again"
>Sell enough to get third party support
I hope they do this. Didn't they say the Vita is their last handheld?
>Alt right
I actually cringe a little inside when people use this term. Just like the word "toxic".
Literally all they have to do is release the Xperia Play 2.
This time actually support it for more than a year.
>Sony
>Supporting something if it's not instantly a success or something they've thrown millions of dollars at.
>>a console you can't watch comfy movies on is comfy
>it's not a good console because it's not a garbage multiplat netflix box like the others
It would need to have some kind of steam controller-esque inputs so you can market it to non gamers as well.
I suspect that was a huge reason for it. They've had a divided library for a long time and it hurt their ability to compete.
It's not a good console cause it doesn't have any fucking decent games and in the very least it could offer the consumer something to do with the piece of shit while waiting months until those games come out.
...
>Nvidia Shield barely scrapes by with gamecube emulation which more or less guarantees the Switch wont be able to do it, since the shield is actually better than the switch.
Switch has a Tegra X1 like the Shield TV. Shield tablet has the older and inferior K1. Nvidia doesn't make any portable Shields using the X1. Switch is clocked lower than Shield TV but the Shield TV throttles under load even to below what Switch is clocked at. Which is why the Switch has the clocks that it does when docked (throttling wouldn't work in a console ever). Shield also has Android overhead.
Switch has an OS overhead too so that's irrelevant.
>It's not a good console cause it doesn't have any fucking decent games
Like the PS4 for it's first 1.5 years? But keep ignoring Zelda and the fact that the Switch's 1st year lineup has more exclusive games in it than the PS4 got in two years goyim.
>its bad cause of A and B
>"wew wow just like how X was bad because of A?"
>Sony selling a competing console/handheld for a price cheaper than nintendo
Name One Time
PS4 APU isn't a laptop chipset. The jaguars were designed for tablets and netbooks but in reality they were too big, too hot, used too much power, and were too expensive for that purpose. The GPU in the APU was a gaming laptop tier GPU. Aka it won't work in a portable. Using a die shrunk super down clocked version of this would still kill a switch sized battery in minutes, run too hot, require the unit to be too large, and would ironically even be too handicapped in a lot of ways even compared to the switch. AMD has nothing for mobile. They are supposedly working on something but who knows how many years off they are? Nvidia has been making Tegra meanwhile for years and knows this space quite well.
>Nintendo selling a competing handheld for a price more expensive than the competition
Guess there's a first for everything.
Honestly what are the good upcoming games for the switch? Eventually it will be a good console solely because of Monster Hunter/Fire emblem/SMT but right now it's pretty shit.
BoTW looks like complete trash btw. Who wanted an open world, easy as fuck Zelda game?
>BoTW looks like complete trash btw
>I came here to shitpost
and that you did little user
now move along, some of the adults are trying to have a conversation
Can a smartphone play BoTW?
Who the fuck is going to buy a Wii U right now? Zelda might as well be a switch exclusive.
Who buys a console to watch movies?
Heres what we had for devs
>psp go style system (later models dropped this due to severe heat issues and cold burns, aesthetically superior though)
>sd card support (later models dropped this in favor of the modified m2 card)
>had hdmi out (devkits only)
>had mini usb support for PC connectivity (devkit only, also dropped)
>also had lan adapter (that also charged the system when in use, had variants for fat and slim models)
While this may seem like a magical device it certainly had issues that were understandably a problem, but thats not even close to this part
>vita is released, its stupid secure
>its cost is high due to proprietary format memory, ports, and more
>64gb cards also have a high failure rate no less
>pstv eventually released as a stationary variant of the vita, with ps3/4 controller support and (in theory) all ps vita games supported (if whitelisted)
>but netflix app isnt supported on the pstv, only vita
>due to high cost of vita hardware, as well as small market due to high price, many did not consider supporting it (Western devs)
So even though it delivers on hardware power, security, and a few other promises, it lacked a good consumer base due to them trying to stop any form of piracy/hacking every step of the way, and it worked til 3.60, which was such a pain in the ass and a lucky exploit that we will likely never have such access again unless sony fucks up once more
Once piracy became a thing, and modding became a thing it certainly picked up the pace and sales
the only real way sony could realistically make it a system with good sales and no exploits is to remove webkit, remove external storage, but also deliver everything else, but unfortunately no webkit means no web connectivity or web based apps (or psn i believe but that may be wrong)
Ultimately sony needs to accept exploits and piracy will happen, unless they make the device 100% isolated from web connectivity
