No more Nintendo

It's time to accept the fact that Nintendo hasn't done anything decent for the video game industry or fans of their franchises in the past 15 years with no end to the madness in sight.

>Overpriced, underpowered handhelds and home consoles that increase dev costs for multiplat publishers while letting Nintendo get away with unimpressive entries to legacy franchises to the tune of holding your nostalgia hostage
>rudimentary and often backwards online functionality that doesn't aim to improve upon much less match the competition
>game quality has been in a slow descending spiral
>wasted continued effort and development of proven stinkers like Pikmin while other legacy franchises remain untouched
>harms their third party support to the point of recent consoles almost entirely surviving on Nintendo games alone: like a more expensive leapfrog machine for toddlers.
>blows all their money on lucrative gambles like acquiring Monolith Soft then immediately making a slightly better version of the 3DS explicitly because their Monolith Soft game couldn't run well on an original 3DS, a game which had oroginally been virtually a "literally who" with only 800,000~ worldwide sales on the Wii yet a budget bigger than 5 Nintendo games.

It's time to grab a beer, have a smoke, and realize you're not old and jaded - Nintendo just sucks now. Hiroshi Yamauchi was the only reason Nintendo succeeded in the video game industry.

Type N to pay respects.

The new zelda was pretty good

Don't forget their shady business practices and "artificial shortages" which do nothing but encourage scalpers to profit.

...

Well, I thought it was pretty good.
If you didn't then fine, maybe the game wasn't made to your liking.
Or maybe you don't actually like Zelda games, that's cool.
Everyone has their type, for lack of a better term.

I love Zelda games. Up til BotW i was fairly proud to say it was my favorite franchise in all of gaming. BotW itself hates Zelda games though, and tries to be anything but a Zelda game from alien gameplay differences and lack of dungeons to character redesigns and voice acting. The amount of retarded faux-favor surrounding BotW has virtually made it inpossible for me to say that I'm a Zelda fan because of how many people jerk it off and how little it respects every other game in franchise.

>BotW itself hates Zelda games though, and tries to be anything but a Zelda game
you're a fucking idiot

it may change the "OoT formula" drastically, but it still has a lot in common with the very first game - in my view, the series has distanced itself from its original intention, and BotW was their way to address that (along with addressing their rising issue of how to keep a stale formula original).
his post didn't seem passive-aggressive to me

I wonder who could be behind this post.

Every other Zelda game was more like the first one that BotW is alike to any of them.

You linearly visit dungeons, get dungeon items, beat dungeon bosses, get magical instruments, and it's all done it a nice big environment of a game world for tech of the time. You did this in the first zelda game and you did this in every zelda game that came after it, except Link's Crossbow Training and BotW.

truly the only thing they did wrong was call it a legend of zelda game.

the first LoZ is as open as they could possibly have made it at the time, with almost all the dungeons being playable in any order without cheats or trickery of any kind.

I thought this was ironic bait, but apparently the OP is just a faggot.

All I get from your post is not muh dungeons which isn't everything Zeldas about.

The dungeons are not only numerically ordered but also virtually required to do them linearly, and if you actually played the game you would know this.
Even then, you had to do all 8 dungeons before you could face Ganon. There's no point in making a game if the final biss can be beaten from the beginning by walking in a straight unobstructed path across the overworld.

Dungeon disorder wasn't a thing til ALTTP.

It also required you to buy guides as the fucking creator's of the game don't know what half the text fucking means (remember '10th Enemy Has the Bomb'?).
The original Zelda was too open for its own good, you can do whatever the fuck you want, but on your first time, without a guide, you won't beat it. The original Zelda wasn't a well designed game, it was made to sell copies of Nintendo Power

Nope. You can whine all you want but I'm having a blast with my /hacked/ 3DS. You are in the minority babby. Admittedly the Switch (TM) is a disaster but Nintendo will remain strong as long as the 3DS lives.

Also: POKEMON has never been better.

Too bad PS4 has one game worth playing

>but also virtually required to do them linearly
that's false, though
>There's no point in making a game if the final biss can be beaten from the beginning by walking in a straight unobstructed path across the overworld.
oh, and why is that?
There's still plenty of content within the game to play through, it's just that you can choose which order you do it in. You won't necessarily be able to beat the final boss instantly (at least, not without some decent gear and some understanding of the game's combat system), but the opportunity is there for people (particularly speedrunners) to attempt it.
I don't feel the original LoZ is as cryptic as people claim these days; yes, those hints were poor translations at best, but it's still possible to play through the game without a guide as it has a certain logic to its design, with far fewer hidden areas being required than pop culture may lead you to believe.

I don't see how taking away parts of the whole which makes Zelda unique is beneficial, and that's basically what you're justifying?
There are other openworld action games on the market. I fail to see how someone could categorize BotW as anything but just another openworld action game, if not outright being a worse experience because thise other openworld action games have a semblance of uniqueness that BotW abandoned in losing dungeons and items and sensible progress.

One day, I will feel finished with Breath of the Wild. Today is not that day.

Again, it would help you in the longrun to actually play the first Zelda game so you don't sound stupid when talking about it, but you might just be stupid for life if you're convinced you should try to talk about things you have no understanding of.

>ith far fewer hidden areas being required than pop culture may lead you to believe.
One of the fucking dungeons is hidden underneath a bush, which there are hundreds of in the game. You can't get more crytic than that

>Pikmin
>Stinkers

you type a lot of words yet say nothing of value
there's still dungeons in BotW, they may not have the same format as most other zelda games but you can't act like BotW doesn't have any dungeons. You could argue BotW's dungeons are worse, but it still has them.
oh please, the bush blocks a path, it's hardly hidden away.

Why cant I find these hat wearing feels guy memes anywhere? do they have a name? i need some sonyfags

Wojack is his name you fucking newfag

>Nintendo will remain strong as long as the 3DS lives.
They have already ended production of the 3DS and will not be continuing the product line. They have merged their handheld and console businesses. You're fucked.

Its wojak fucking newfag

I've been enjoying it a lot. Hard mode'll be nice.

Wii U is not being produced anymore, but they've said nothing about ending production on the 3DS. It's started down the path to dying, but they announced several upcoming 3DS games in the last direct and it makes no sense to discontinue it just yet.

It's woj you fucking faggot

>all games combined, the franchise has sold worse than than the single worst selling Zelda game
Yes, Pikmin is a flop in every sense of the word.

if pikmin is such a flop, how come the franchise has 3 instalments - each with positive critical reception?

>no! YOUR console of choice is the worst!!
can't we all agree that all of the consoles are terrible and bring nothing to the table anymore?

Cause Nintendo is fucking retarded and read the OP

There has been a lot of Switch dick riding going on the last few weeks, so you're obviously going to get massive hate for this post, but I agree with you OP.

Even though my allegiances don't lie with any particular company, I will gladly admit that Nintendo made some of the best games and consoles ever conceived prior to 2006. However, once the Wii was introduced, everything changed. Nintendo's priorities changed from developing games that could compete in both gameplay and graphics to making games/consoles that had mass appeal and qwirky gimmicks. As a result, the quality of Nintendo hardware and content has taken a nose dive and they show no signs of learning their lesson. Frankly, it astounds me that anyone is stupid enough to buy into Nintendo's newest piece of shit given how badly the WiiU (an incredibly similar concept) burned everyone last time.

BOTW

"Artificial shortages" are something fag "video game journalists" made up when they couldn't get a system. It's not a real thing, and makes zero economic sense.

ok.

Dude it's pretty clear you haven't played the first one. ALTTP wasn't the first Zelda.

You don't have to do Zelda 1 dungeons in order bro.

ironically, the quality of their hardware when they chose to create underpowered machines was better - with minimal failure rates and technical issues. The Switch, however, has gained notoriety for having technical problems (although it's debated over how widespread these issues actually are), which is an interesting contrast when you consider how powerful the switch is relative to its form factor. Personally, I feel they still make decent games, albeit games that (by trying to appeal to everyone) end up appealing to a very niche market.

To some up OP's post

Sorry, but you are either really stupid or don't have much experience purchasing games and hardware. The artificial demand is absolutely real. In fact, Nintendo was recently accused of creating an artificial NES classic shortage to spur sales.

It makes perfect sense. If you think that there are endless numbers of something, you aren't rushing to go buy it. If you think there is a limited supply, you are more likely to run out and grab it at the first opportunity. This is economics 101 dude, it isn't hard to understand.

Because Miyamoto. If Miyamoto loved Metroid you can damn well be sure it'd get a shit ton more respect from Nintendo.

Oh geez you're one of those "I'll use long sentences to sound smart without saying anything" insecure dumb neckbeards.

>*Bing!*
>*Bing!*
>1-up!
>"Wa-hoo!"

K go start a new game and do the 4th dungeon first.

It literally opposes basic economics bro. Sorry.

Exactly. "Nintendo was accused" by retards beta males with tits and podcasts.

>To sum up the overwhelming majority of posts on this board

Fixed that for you. Though at least they actually articulated their posts reasonably this time. Only three crying Wojaks and one racist Jew pic.

See, this is why nobody will take you manbabies seriously. Instead of presenting a reasonable argument for why you disagree, you post some autistic image and then write it off as sour grapes. Dude, most people who criticize Nintendo are former fans, why do you want to blatantly defend retardation? OP made some legitimate points, most of which weren't even targeted at the Switch but rather the company in general. Stop sucking that dick.

You can do 3 first. A couple dungeons have a prerequisite.

Sounds like you don't know what you're talking about.

> It literally opposes basic economics bro. Sorry.
Except it doesn't, for the reasons I just explained. It doesn't oppose economics nor human nature, it actually makes perfect sense. Jesus, you fucking kids today are dumb as shit.

The switch is, believe it or not, underpowered tech for both the form factor and the price. Up to 50% worse performance than the Nvidia Shield Tablet or Nvidia Shield TV, which is what the Switch is based off of, yet $100 more expensive than either of them.

>go all in on merging your home and handheld consoles into one console
>still keep supporting the old handheld from last gen

Pick one.
Nintendo are stupid, but you're in a whole other league if you actually think they're going to keep supporting the 3DS after going out of their way to bury it with the Switch.

You didn't actually explain anything. How embarrassing.

I didn't say do 3 first i said do 4 first you stupid fucking nigger

not even him, but it doesn't make sense from a business standpoint - if there's consumers that want to buy your product, it makes the most sense to shelve enough to match the demand. Failing to match the demand is simply lost profits, the only reason a company might do this is if they need to focus on developing other hardware. In the case of the NES mini, some have speculated that they shelved it in favor of a SNES mini, or perhaps to bring their attention entirely to the Switch (since they did not correctly predict the Switch's high sales numbers, and had understocked as a result).
would you prefer I type like a retard or something? go fuck yourself m8
Also, that post was pretty concise
>Miyamoto
>Metroid
>Up to 50% worse performance than the Nvidia Shield Tablet or Nvidia Shield TV
got a source for this?

And you also said you had to do them in order. So I proved you wrong.

The more time that passes since I finished playing BotW, the more mediocre it looks in retrospect.

Of the 90 hours I put into the game, about 30 of those were spent just hunting down materials to upgrade armor. A total time sink and not enjoyable at all. About 40 was spent simply moving from one shrine to the next to get another notch under my belt, and maybe 10 hours at most was spent actually feeling any sense of enjoyment. Most of the shrines were incredibly rudimentary and posed no real challenge or enjoyment.

The entire game seems like it was designed to waste your time. The sole redeeming factor is that the world is interesting and varied enough that exploration is fun, but this works only once. Replaying it will be an utter chore.

It's an utterly forgettable experience. There aren't even any soundtracks to hum.

> You didn't actually explain anything. How embarrassing.
So you admit to being autistic, then? Because I just explained it to you in the most dead simple way possible. Holy fuck you are stupid kiddo.

I'll reiterate once more: low quantity drives demand, high quantity doesn't instill a sense of desire in the consumer to buy the product. Are you more likely to seek out something which is the next big thing that everyone wants, or some geriatric shit that can be found anywhere? Like I said, this couldn't be any simpler for you to understand.

You DO type like a retard. It's obvious you're dumb and insecure.

Reading comprehension. I'm saying if Miyamoto loves a franchise or has a hand in its production, regardless of sales numbers, it gets respect.

WAHOO

Except low quantity also curbs sales. Ouch.

How has this thread not been shitposted into oblivion and the OP banned?

Clearly the rumor that Sup Forums is Sonygaf is true.

No it wasn't.

you just sound intimidated by the vocabulary in my post to me, lighten the fuck up user.
I don't think miyamoto has any say over the metroid franchise, he's certainly had no involvement with it before.

>Supporting a convicted pedophile
Good job thief.

>got a source for this?
It's underclocked. This has been confirmed by various sources, just google it

>you just sound intimidated by the vocabulary in my post to me, lighten the fuck up user.

LOL

>oh please, the bush blocks a path, it's hardly hidden away.
There's tons of bushes that do that

> Except low quantity also curbs sales. Ouch.
Actually it doesn't. Come on dude, you aren't really this stupid are you? Nintendo WILL sell all of the consoles they've currently produced, it's only a matter of when, there is no lost profit involved. It's in their interest to create demand and buzz for the console, not to have it available at every store collecting dust and looking uninteresting and then lose the "hot" factor after a week. Use your brain.

Google is the source, using your eyes and seeing what the console can do is the corroborating evidence. inconsistent sub-30 framerate on Zelda is the console being maxed out, though I'd sooner attribute that to shitty Nintendo coding and game design than a true fault of the console. Otherwise, the theoretical upper limit in GFLOP performance for the GPU+CPU combo of the Switch(X1), Shield(K1) and Shield TV(X1) are easily discoverable on google.

gen z retard

>no lost profit involved when sitting on inventory

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

It's underclocked when undocked

since 2006 they've released WarioWare Smooth Moves, Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Wario Land Shake It, Punch-Out!!, Mario Galaxy 2, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Xenoblade Chronicles, Rhythm Heaven Fever, Kirby's Return to Dream Land, Super Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3, Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Smash 4, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, Splatoon, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE, Hyrule Warriors, Breath of the Wild, Elite Beat Agents, Hotel Dusk, Kirby Mass Attack, Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Kid Icarus Uprising, Pushmo, BoxBoy, Fire Emblem Awakening, Animal Crossing New Leaf, A Link Between Worlds, Tomodachi Life, Rhythm Heaven Megamix, Pokemon Sun and Moon, and Kirby Planet Robobot.

I don't know how you can look at that track record as anything other than fucking stellar.

ever play zelda on nes?

And docked. It's just underclocked less

I guess there's really no point in arguing, literally all you've said up to this point is "lol no" and "hahahaha" like an autistic reddit user, instead of giving me any actual reason for why they aren't doing this. Think what you like, it doesn't change facts bud.

It's all fanboys hyping it up, not to mention it L I T E R A L L Y was the only game worth a damn for Nintendo's newest home console at launch

Now THAT, is false

I know he has no say in Metroid. I am saying that whatever Miyamoto has a hand in gets attention and respect. I used Metroid as an example because Miyamoto has no involvement with it, and if he did, implied it would be treated better.

The dubious quality of the games mentioned aside, you've named 40 or so games that Nintendo has produced/endorsed over the last 11 fucking years... most of which fall into the same few series... just look at how many times "Mario" appears on that list. If you think that is variety and quality, you're beyond help. The SNES alone puts that entire list to shame.

>inconsistent sub-30 framerate on Zelda is the console being maxed out
You faggots have no idea how game design works

BotW isn't a very good port, they were asked to port it to the system very late into development and it's clear they didn't do a very good job of it - most of the issues have at least been patched since, but it still could be better imo. Nonetheless, the switch does technically include 2 controllers and a high-quality display (yes, I know it's 720p - I'm referring to its color gamut and viewing angles, though)
I played it on Wii U and still feel it's a great game
Then how come games like Splatoon and ARMS have surfaced recently?

>Box Boy literally exists

OP BTFO IN RECORD TIME

>You faggots have no idea how game design works
Oh yeah? Explain it then big boy, because I don't see why a game as graphically simplistic should have trouble running on hardware made in 2017... unless the hardware, you know, sucks?

while you're here desparately trying to suck your own dick and gettin your lips tantalizingly close, i'm here playing some amazing fucking games and not giving a shiiiiiiiiiiit

I refuse.

I can't accept it. Not yet. Not with Super Mario Odyssey on the horizon. Or not until I've created the Nintendo replacement company.

This is the only kind of gameplay I truly enjoy - I've forged countless wonderful memories with good friends over these games' multiplayer. I enjoy the heart-lifting settings and the mental stimulation that sports just don't provide.

No, this company HAS to turn around.

I seriously cannot believe how many autists have invaded Sup Forums. I thought you guys were better than this. The first few weeks, you were actually being sensible and participating in constructive criticism of Nintendo's obvious retardation, and now you guys are sucking Miyamoto's dick longer and longer with each passing day. Holy fuck you degenerates are worthless.

not him, but in BotW's case the physics engine and the fact it's open world (with a long draw-distance to boot) are an important factor in its performance.

miyamoto kinda sucks now, any input he's had on games in the last decade or so has kinda ruined em

nintendo's real good tho

Fuck you I still like playing their games

>Simplistic
Why, cuz it's not photorealistic?

is this the daily sony therapy thread?

This just proves it

It's called "optimization" retard, just because a console has trouble running a certain game does not mean it's the hardware's fault, it could be a shitty port.

Dragon Quest Heroes II on Switch runs worse on the Switch than the Vita, that's an example of poor optimization. And I know for a fucking fact you're not gonna say "THAT MEANS IT'S WEAKER THAN THE VITA NINTENIGGERS ON SUICIDE WATCH LMAO"

>while you're here desparately trying to suck your own dick and gettin your lips tantalizingly close, i'm here playing some amazing fucking games and not giving a shiiiiiiiiiiit
Exactly, you can't say shit, you have no fucking argument. Just typical autistic reddit anger. No wonder you like modern Nintendo games... they're nice and simple. Perfect for simple minds.
