Is Elite: Dangerous worth it if you just want to explore space?

>first time using SpaceEngine
>looking for interesting planets across lightyears
>discover an oceania with a day equal to its year
>think to myself "oh, it's tidally locked, that means one side would be frozen and the other liquid"...

If that's really what you want to do, I can tell you there are people who haven't been back to inhabited space in months.

The Horizons content will allow you to land on planets and whatnot as well.

Trade and combat of various types/reasons. Ship customization and whatnot. Exploring.

Sure, I guess. The different types of ships allow you to have anything from a tiny agile bastard with big guns, up to a huge boat with tons of guns.

The basic ship system has different classes of thrusters for each ship which increases general performance. With engineers these can be further tuned for maximum performance in a certain area.

Last I played there was only voice chat when you're grouped with people. It also adds a cool radio static effect to it. My friends and I actually would mute Teamspeak in order to use the in-game voice just because it sounded cooler.

Faster Than Light

Lets just say it was my first stealth run and I didn't have the weapons I wanted. Took a lot of close as hell moments and quick thinking but at the cost of my ship and my crew, I beat the confederate mother ship by a hair.

Shit was intense.

I heard that multilayer is nonexistent because people just alt+f4 when they get attacked, is that true?
