It's so fucking good
Who else has played this gem ?
no
...
>Didn't even put Rain World in the filename, subject line, or text box
Anyway, yeah. Rain World is fucking good. But also definitely not for everyone.
Is that a Pikachu silhouette?
It is a Slugcat, you play one of these in Rain World. It's like a survival-platformer-stealth game. Very cool and unique but definitely not for everyone. Check it out if you can.
Do you need to constantly check the wiki to play it?
No, you can learn to play the game by yourself, there's a cool little guy that stays with you and give you hints but it's through images and little signs, nothing is spelled out for you.
Donnie Darko isn't a fucking video game.
Fuck those plants. Gets me every time.
>no threads for ages
>suddenly daily threads
I know how you feel
This game is so cool. I'm less than an hour into playing but the aesthetic is so beautiful and the gameplay reminds me of things like oddworld and heart of darkness.
Fuck yeah, it's great. You'll see it's hard but holy shit it feels good when you succeed.
>When you steal a vultures mask and later kill its owner
one time i saw a blue guide in addition to the yellow guide, but he went away when i died
what does he do?
You see them from time to time, but they're not there to guide you like the yellow one. I believe it's more of a coincidence when you see one.
Holy shit what ? No clue man.
you can check the map, pole plants will not appear
I played it for maybe an hour. Honestly I didn't like it. Movement just felt so clumsy and awful.
And they dont have any bumps unlike all other poles.
I want Slugcat dick
Do you have to grab a pole plant to get caught or does merely moving past it while it's 'flared' get you too?
This is the closest thing to a horror game I've seen in years, and I love it for that.
Nice escape user
Protip, if you press down plus jump when going down a crawl space you'll fall to the bottom
I'm not sure how it works, but I found that plant (am still playing through it first time) and was able to escape from it by just jumping the fuck around after it grabbed me
>just did a long run of the Underhang, lots of close calls having to use silk worms to climb along ceilings
>finally get to a safe room
>fuck up and fall to my death a couple feet away from it
End me. Although the game is definitely a hell of a lot easier now that I finally updated it.
You have to grab onto them yeah.
If you stand at it's base for too long it will trigger, walking past it quickly is fine. But yeah, when it's flared, don't get near it at all
How are you supposed to survive the rain?
You don't. You need to hibernate
What a Hollow Knight clone.
Stop. I like both games and there's nothing remotely similar about the 2 outside of vaguely similar appearance of the player characters.
OKay please tell me what does that one user means
>but also definitely not for everyone.
It's a pretty hard game with a bunch of questionable punishing design decisions that uses procedurally generated animations for everything.
Wow, reminds me of Cave Story.
The aesthetics also look very nice.
>mfw they can eat vultures
Moon is cute! CUTE!
When I met her I did the bad thing by accident, am I fucked?
Looks like Hollow Knight
Can someone give me a bit of info on the level design of this game without spoiling anything? is it a bit of a metroidvania? is it randomly generated? I remember seeing it way back and now that it's out I'm looking to give it a play
It's metroidvania but the world is absolutely massive, add this to the difficulty and you'll be exploring for a long time before you see everything
>lizard bro died by vultures
sad
FYI is you grab hold of those asshole squid things that you find in some water areas you can ride them like dolphins, this is really useful for getting through long waterways or reaching high up stuff out of the water
>>but also definitely not for everyone.
Trial and error plus time restrictions due rain cycles: you either made to save spot for hibernation or die. Also, hunger and karma gates.
It's frustrating
As fuck
AS FUCK
You need a certain degree of masochism, like someone who played NES platformers, to fully enjoy it.
It has some good sides and is unique, but it's certainly not the game you play to unwind after a stressful day.
ahh, that's great to hear, been waiting to play this for quite a while
it's alright if you get into the right mindset, like not getting frustrated for dying since interesting deaths are the best parts of this game IMO
No. NES era platformers were hard but fair. This game is rng bullshit.
do it for her user
Sounds like you haven't actually played many NES era platformers.
>NES era platformers were hard but fair.
They often were intentionally unfair.
It's not a metroidvania and it's not randomly generated. Best way I can think of describing it is as an "open world" 2D platformer.
...
So do we know what if any is in the pipeline for this game? Future patches?
Fuck you homo
Fuck you shill
.
>3 threads over a month ago
oh nooooo
..
>it's le shills
But this is a Christian image board!
archive is full of these daily. most of them die without replies though
Uncensored version user please? Pretty please?
wtf how do you talk to her? I spent all that time getting to her and she couldn't even speak to me, in the end I got frustrated and ate those glowing flies around her
...
>was going to get it in Easter sale
>no Easter sale
GABEN WHY?
....
>NES era platformers were hard but fair
Spoken by someone who has clearly never played NES-era platformers.
why does she have two pairs of eyes
it's probably too new to go on sale, personally I think £15 is pretty reasonable given how much content it has
>she
ecks ded
it happens
exploration is the cream of the crop of this game
>pic related
one of my favorite regions and your only seeing like 1/6th of the entire map and there are 12 regions.
In terms of aesthetics you will never get bored, visiting a new region is always something to look forward too,
Yeah, I mean the price does look reasonable, it's just a sale would allow me to get more games for my bucks and I'm pretty tight on money right now so I would like that. I'm also fearful of buying it, sinking over 2 hours into it the first night I play it (bound to happen) and then a late Spring sale landing.
This just sounds better and better, also damn if that Map doesn't just remind me of Hollow Knight
>indietrash
no thanks, kiddo.
You`re doing it right you cant understand her the first time you meet her because you don`t have the ability yet. Just keep going until you meet pebbles then he will give the ability to communicate.
Yeah the map functions just like Hollow Knight, except you gain rooms/areas on it by just exploring instead of buying one from the trader.
You'll also automatically see resting spots on them once you've visited them, which is a godsend when you're only a couple minutes away from rainfall.
aight it ended up as some ayy lmao shit though, I think I can do a bit better next time
That hamster lower face looks horrible
Smooth out the lower head and the neck - slugcat doesn't seem to have defined neck in any official pic
What do the pulsing blue rings on the map indicate? Food locations?
Pretty sure it's bats
Yeah I gotta look up some reference when doing this shit, I think I could figure out the shapes pretty alright but I don't know much about shading
What is your most hated enemy? Mine is these evil fuckers
Shading looks OK, it's just the lower face
Proportions look a bit too "dumpy", but that's minor
Try to avoid defining things too much - in game and artwork, slugcat is always a bit blurred and would probably look much worse if too detailed
I'll try figuring it out, biggest fuck up I noticed is that the arms in the left one are long as fuck
