This was optional and not that hard

Someone did this 3x1000 times for the 100% playthrough

gamer cred, a lost art

>99 out of 100

What happens if you do it 3 times?

nothing, he just did it 3 times

>let's put in a mildly challenging minigame and see how many faggots complain about it online a decade later

None of these were a problem. Excalibur II being functionally impossible to get in the PAL version, now that was a fucking problem.

Why was it impossible?

It's not impossible, it's just kind of fucked. 50 herz instead of 60 hertz whilst the internal clock time remains the same basically boils down to you having to beat the game in under 10 hours in the PAL version instead of the normal 12.
Bear in mind than the non-TAS speed run world record is just shy of 9 hours, so yeah. Not great.

Ah, the 'all PAL games are slow' meme, one of my favourites! FF9 runs at full speed, you stooge.

At least try to read his post next time.

Why do japanese developers do such bullshit, that adds nothing but frustration to games? Are they sadistic for no reason? Is this just done to sell strategy guides? Do they actually think it's fun?

Please explain the difference between NTSC 50hz and PAL 60hz

top tier autism

wow how retarded do you have to be

Before cheevos, games needed autistic ways of artificially inflating playtime, especially if they were JRPGs.

He implied that running in 50hz mode makes the game run slow yet the clock ticks at the correct speed. That's absurd.

Learn how to read, it's that the way that the have measures how much real time has passed is misaligned, due to differences in frames over time.

Why does it add frustration?

Could you not have completed the game just fine without ever knowing what jumping the rope a bazillion time does or what happens if you get to the last dungeon in less than 12 hours?

The only reason anyone would mind it was if they read a guide and somehow felt entiteld to getting everything in the game for little effort just because they bought it. I bet you just emulated it anyway, too.

You're spot on about the rope skipping, but there's no excusing locking ultimate weapons behind retarded bullshit like they did in X with the bolts and butterflies.

Pretty standard Final Fantasy stuff to be honest

Except not really.
No final fantasy prior to that had such mundane and bad shit to get the final weapons.

Chocobo Hot and Cold is the most tedious and annoying side quest in the series, and the fact that all the top equipment besides Eiko's and Amarant's is locked behind it is BULLSHIT.
