Why does this game get so much praise...

why does this game get so much praise? i bought it as part of a xbox 360 bundle and it feels like a bland half finished indy game. could only stomach a few hours. the enviroments and enemy designs are really lazy and ugly, even for a ps2 title. the only interesting thing is the robot itself.

The second game is the only one who gets praised dumbass

It gets praised because it's a koijima game.

I remember it as one of the first mecha games, save for Virtual-On on the DC. Lots of flashy anime shit as opposed to the more rigid MechWarrior and Armored Core I was used to. That said, yeah the game is not that amazing or anything, and the sequel improved everything.

>Could only stomach a few hours
Surprised you didn't finish it the first game was only like 3 hours long if i recall. But basically this the first game aged pretty poorly.

No-one praises the first game, dumbshit, it's the sequel everyone praises.

Not much of a Kojima actually, he was the Producer in both ZoE games, they don't have much direct influence on the game as a Director does.

Only good thing about the first game is the music
Intro gives me chills

I already praised both ZoE and ZoE2 before I even had any idea who Kojima was. Only played MGS for the first time years later.

This. The second game is a basically better in every way. There was still a lot to improve on though, which makes me sad because ZOE3 will probably never be made.

Video games don't actually have directors, that's just a title koijima came up with for himself. He's always a lead producer.

ZoE 1 was that game everyone bought for the mgs2 demo. ZoE 2 is the one that's good

Also the demo disk it came with.

They praised it because everyone was really excited for Metal Gear Solid 2 that they were willing to pay $60 for a demo disc of it.

The first game is pretty much accepted to be completely inferior to the sequel. If you're gonna play a ZoE game, you play the sequel.

First ZoE had pretty good ideas and had a decent execution. True, it's a pretty bland game, but it introduced some really good foundation for the whole flying robot gameplay. Also kickass mech designs.

Second game pretty much just blew the whole thing out of the water and polished everything that was introduced in the first game - much better grab system, more enemies, new subweapons. Its graphics hold up even to this day simply because of how stylish they are. Soundtrack's a beast.

I think it's funny that ZoE2 was actually made because of all the sales it gained from people wanting to play the MGS2 demo. A great marketing move by Konami.

what did you say to me you little bitch

kojimas other games were a lot better than this, it felt like a beta build of a game that wasnt out yet

ac2 for the ps2 had a similar sense of speed and was clunky as well but still a better experience by far imo

its been a while since i played, i remember stopping when i had to fly around in some undergroun tunnel system destroying generators or something.

what the fuck did tou say to me

this definitely feels like more of a pet project than something he would have released. i know yoji shinkawa designed some of the mechs but it seemed like it lacked in sense of direction or story like a kojima game does.

ZoE 2 is a much better game imo. Rented 1 and felt it was okay, 2 is all around better.

>which makes me sad because ZOE3 will probably never be made.
It was being made, news surfaced shortly after MGS4 got released on PS3, it just got quietly cancelled.

>why does this game get so much praise?

It doesn't really. The only game made by Kojima that gets praise besides Metal Gear is Snatcher, and even so, most people haven't played it.

ZoE2 catches some noteworthy praise, and it's pretty deserved. It's actually a pretty great action game. Also the soundtrack is bangin.

Wouldn't be surprised if Kojima made a spiritual sequel that was under a different name. He said that he wanted to make another ZoE but Konami probably didn't like the idea

Is the GBA Zone of Enders game any good? I've heard so little about the game.

The Mars one?

FUCK

YES

It's basically a licensed ZOE SRW with QTEs, made by Winkysoft too, so it really can't get more SRW than this.
It has some really, really cool OF and LEV designs.

It's been a while since i played either of the two but i remember prefering 1's "dash" better than 2's.

what's wrong with the environments in ZoE? i think they look good
i almost prefer the first game to the second

Yes. It's probably one of the most underrated games in terms of story because it was written by a bunch of people from Sunrise
