>tfw i make my game on rpg maker
im a real developer r-right?
if you actually finish one yeah, the standards are very low anyway
Trying to play it on android and things doesn't go very well... tips for creating a good fps controls for mobile?
Double taps for 180 turn. Gyro like on the Wii U pad? A mix of virtual joystick with finger gestures.
where did you guys learn how to develop gaymes?
Its not going very well, finding it difficult to motivate myself.
I stoped because im at the point where the only way i can progress further is by producing art
ive about 8h of gameplay made but since im stupid enough to fall for the long rpg meme, its basically peanuts
Well, the best ideas can't be expressed. It's about execution of many different mechanics.
pic related. I also borrowed "Beginning Programming with C++" from the library. I give it a week until I give it up entirely (again)
Its slowly dying on Greenlight as traffic has come to a halt.

I busted my ass trying to advertise. Kotaku and Rock Paper Shotgun wrote an article after I tracked down tons of contacts and mass emailed 'press kits' I made.
Someone shared a link to one of them on rebbit r/gaming - yeah, i know and sent me a link but it was immediately deleted for no reason even though the link was from a major gaming website, so I guess its a no-go if you arent a AAA company or something.
So pretty much guaranteed to fail before Greenlight goes away, but it was worth a shot and did well given the circumstances in getting publicity i guess. Anyways, everyone here was always cool and helped a lot with feedback and to keep me motivated over the past couple years, so thanks to everyone.
Currently working on my 3rd independent project. I've been inspired by pac-man championship edition to make an arcade game with "depth" added to basic controls.
You could always learn Blueprints if c++ has held you up. Just keep working on something relelentlessly and you got this, pham.
Approximately 6-8 hours a day minimum for 1 year straight of reading through resources and watching video tutorials on youtube.
Making stuff
a 2d monster hunter? would play
You just made that for THICC replies, didnt you? Im onto you.
N-no, I was just trying to make a nice old lady
those details look too soft for what should be hard surface type stuff. did you just sculpt those details onto your base mesh? you'd get better results with the clothing as separate geometry.
It's meant to be soft cloth and leather.
I'm still not done defining the details, though.
It looks a bit bumpy. It could look fine depending on how you texture it. Dont get me wrong, its better than anything I can do but the bumps kinda stick out imo.
Posting again for feedback. Should be ready to actually map soon.
environments look cool, reminds me of moonside from earthbound. but the gameplay looks ass and barebones. platforming in first-person is awful too. i can only assume you did that because you're not confident in your character modeling/animation and because you wanted the player to focus on sight-seeing your neat environments in which case you should have just made a walking sim i guess. a story would help, too. those are my thoughts on possible reasons for the lack of enthusiasm.
That's okay. Thanks for the feedback.
It was much worse before (pic related)
what reference are you using?
cause it doesnt look like you're using any, and it shows.
Reference is for faggots.
I sculpted it on this base I made, because I wanted to see if I could make her look old.
Do you have a demo?
How many yes votes do you have?
Ive always enjoyed first person platformer games, maybe its a niche market. Still have plenty of level design to implement with the mechanics complete and about 40min of gameplay.
I dont want humanoid characters or a story really. I was thinking about making some type of tentacles to be the appendages of the player and rigging with inverse kinematics to give them some sway and natural react to movement and the environment.
Im not sure, but im just sick of the same old shit where youre a guy with a suit free-running.
Thanks in any case for saying it looks cool, I did put a lot of time into the environments so far.
No, there is no demo yet. Ive let two people play an alpha version from when there was about 50% of what there is now, level-wise.
Ive got a fair amount of votes but I dont even trust Steams info at this point. Yesterday the top 100 games had sub-2000 Yes's and today every top 100 has over 7k and according to the charts they have had this amount for over 30 days. Literally impossible. Even if the charts change because they Greenlit some games, the next 100 cannot be HIGHER in yes votes than the last with the same amount of time on GL.
