What are some video game Mary Sues?
What are some video game Mary Sues?
Geralt
The player characters.
What the fuck does mary sue even mean, I hear it all the time. Just an OP character?
OP little fucker
whats the name of the show and is it any good?
...
Mary Sue originally meant an OC donut steel in fanfiction who was liked by everyone in the story and had no flaws. Nowadays it just means "character I don't like"
Sakamoto desu ga
it's okay
The PCs from Monster Hunter, given how the NPC hunters are jobbers
It's bretty funny. The character is the Saitama of high school anime.
Basically a character who gets a lot of the spotlight, and whose flaws aren't really flaws. Like:
>She's so pretty that everybody is attracted to her and jealous of her good looks.
>Secretly a part of a secret organisation that taught him secret kung-fu powers that nobody will every find out/cause friction.
>Is so trusting and nice and naive that people can't even think about betraying them.
>Has a demon sealed inside their arm, except it's only ever a positive and never hinders them in any way except when they need to overcome it.
>Can't die from old age, doomed to never grow old with their friends... except they're really good at making friends and are super mature so it doesn't bother them because they understand it's the way the world works.
>Is really a ghost possessing a human body (is just an excuse to give them possession powers)
So really, almost everybody you play as in a game is a Mary Sue, because "player agency" means any flaws they have can't REALLY inhibit the completion of the game, because if they did, then the game would be "unbeatable".
She's not, actually. Atleast in the first XIII; never played the others. She has faults and even loses fights.
The main character is beyond mary sue. Its okay to watch occassionally but the OP-ness can get pretty boring if you try binge watching this
She's literally a god in lightning returns
It's like One Punch Man for shoujo. I like it
It originally referred to a character that just shows up at some point in the story, steals the spotlight by being perfect in every way, and solves everything on their own. It's like deus ex machina except they show up waaaaay before the end. They're just proto self insert characters. From before people realized that you could just make it the main character and cash in on lonely nerds.
These days people basically just mean any character that isn't completely dysfunctional, and therefore can't really have any character development because they have no significant flaws to overcome. The protagonist of Golden Boy is exactly like this, he literally only has one flaw and most people wouldn't even consider it a flaw. Aside from being an absolute genius and one of the kindest and most humane characters ever written he's also a serious pervert that licks toilet bowls knowing that cute girls have sat there and taken shits.
>It's like One Punch Man for shoujo
what the fuck is that supposed to mean? Shoujo just means "for girls"
...
Aloy
One Punch man for girls
It's primarily a comedy but it's not a laugh-per-minute show. Some of the episodes are faster paced comedy sections while others go for a slower build-up to a big emotional/comedic pay off at the end.
It's an example of a Mary Sue done right, to where they don't make any big attempts to humanize him or make him relatable. He essentially has the power to look cool or perfect in every imaginable situation. Because of that, the focus of the show is on how other people react to him. He's perfect in every way, so they have to come to terms with their own inadequacies and either double down on them or change for the better.
8/10, the show is very consistent in quality so you will probably know whether or not you'll like the show by the midway point or ending of the first episode.
you cant be a mary sue when you die at the end of the story
"Shoujo" means young girl. How are you on this board talking about Chinese schlock without knowing basic shit like this?
P3's MC is absolutly a Mary Sue
>Super special power
>Everyone like him
>Shitty contrived origin story
But oh no he "dies" after taking down the most powerful monster in the world ohh
he didnt die. He became literal jezus.
Sakamoto just dies of cancer/whatever terminal illness
