While Automata is one of my favorite games ever, if someone does really think it's a bad game for solid, non-asinine reasons, e.g., the repetitive gameplay, how you can permanently miss a joke ending, how easy the game is sometimes, the poor performance on PC unpatched, how requirements for certain sidequests are kind of high, or how you felt characterization was not handled well that's perfectly fine in my book. Those are "real reasons".

It takes time and effort to make a good game and I'm glad that Nintendo aren't shitting out annual Metroid/F-Zero games that are just mediocre. I highly doubt that modern Nintendo could make a good F-Zero/Metroid game since their strengths don't really lie with those sorts of games. The only developer I trust with the Metroid is Retro Studios and I don't really trust any developer with F-Zero since Sega have gone to shit.
