He's right, I would say about a decade ago most people would've shit all over you for even mentioning Gaia.

Seriously? I stopped after they nerfed Landshark, I remember taking that thing down towards the beginning of launch.

I was there on-and-off until a few years ago, just watching everything degrade and go downhill. Inflation and the gold economy went straight to hell once they started selling gold packs through the storefront, turning items worth thousands into millions and items worth millions into trillions. You could buy anything you wanted in the stores (prices a few tens of thousands, at most) except the specific newer stores, which had stuff priced in the millions and then the billions.

Then they changed that from selling gold directly to selling gold randomizers, which just made everything worse. Gold values spiraled out of control even more, thanks to people having "fun" with gold generator purchases and putting more gold into the economy.

And finally, they basically just gave up. They starter re-releasing MCs and absolutely everything else. First it was selling Halos for $1000, then selling a few more individual items, and up until a few years ago just putting them in the regular RIG packs. Hell, it made sense, since nobody could find any of them anymore. But it also fucked up whatever trust people had in the website and the whole market. Now anything released as limited is just "limited for six months" or something until they're free to just shove it into any RIG they want.

Even Alchemy items were just sold during Black Friday deals, which made Alchemy pretty pointless.

It's good to hear that the site is doing better - although really, "worse" was almost impossible at that point. My biggest concern is just allowing for new people to actually get into the economy, rather than asking them to build up millions of gold just for some items. Building back up some trust would be important, as well.

Almost everyone on Gaia is a massive narcissist, and so any sort of simple item which doesn't allow you to show off a bunch of junk is unpopular.
