Man I just don't get this game

Man I just don't get this game.

I loved almost everything platinum has ever done, bayo 1 and 2, revengeance, W101, vanquish, even transformers.

But this game is so fucking boring and stupid I can't bring myself to keep playing it.

The combat is just not good and the fetch quest stuff is painfully boring.

It's causing me a crisis because I don't want to move on from it after playing so little because its platinum but I think I have to drop it as a bad game.

Robot has a hot ass

Alright that's fine if you don't like it. Just don't go shitting on the large amounts of people who do like it.

I 110% have the same problem, user.

I don't know man, I really am starting to hate this game and I feel the same way about it as you to a tee.

You fell for the meme

It's only liked because of the robot ass.

The soundtrack is alright.

But the game is so restrained, I was expecting some over the top battle android ninja shit and instead I get a combat system that isn't engaging in the slightest.

The team involved wanted to keep it closer to the original in terms of gameplay as opposed to what Platinum normally does.
Not saying what we got was totally perfect; it was clearly out of their comfort zone.

Automata isn't a Platinum game, it's a Yoko Taro game made with Platinum's help

It's not a Platinum style game at all. It's like the original Nier with bullet hell gameplay. I don't like that either.

I loved the first Nier. I enjoyed this one but from strictly a narrative standpoint, and even then I enjoyed the first Nier leagues more. I found the combat too repetitive in this, and I don't like the rpg mechanics in it made some enemies sponges. It became a chore to actually play the game in my opinion. Which is odd cause the first Nier in no way had good combat yet I was fine with it in every playthrough. I really wanted to love Automata, and while I appreciate it from a design standpoint narrative I wasn't too big on anything else.

it's ok, some people are just too stupid to grasp the themes

I'm about halfway through the seconds playthrough, but I don't know if I'm going to keep going. I understand that the game does get different, but I don't know if I want to keep replaying through the stuff I've already done just to get to the new shit. Especially since the story isn't really that subtle.

Keep playing
Why do people give up so fast these days jesus

Are you also hoping the success of Automata will justify a NieR remake?

I'm going to keep playing for sure because I want to see how things change, but I don't know if I'll be getting every single ending.

Ikr. Route B isn't even that long, it takes maybe 2 hours tops if you're rushing through the story.

Honestly not really I'd prefer something new. I can play Nier whenever I want, and honestly if it takes Automata's combat system I wouldn't be interested, nor would I be curious of any changes. While Nier is a deeply flawed game, I still love it for everything that it is and wouldn't change it, which definitely sounds weird but it's just how I feel.

You made the mistake of thinking this was a Platinum game, when it's a Yoko Taro game. You should have played NieR first.

You're basicly still playing the prolouge

>I loved the first Nier
>I found the combat too repetitive in this
>It became a chore to actually play the game

Does not compute. NieR is 1000% times more tedious than Automata.

Fucking Platinum drones

Oh, damn. Well when does the real game start then?

there are chips you can get to add more depth to the combat
Its also worth looking up where to get the alternate pods and pod abilities to give you even more combat options

also mess around with the different kinds of light/heavy combos you get from different weapons combinations. sword+spear plays differently from sword+fist or fist+fist or spear+greatsword. don't just stick to sword+greatsword the whole game

that's like going through a DMC game using only rebellion+handguns

as for the fetch quests, you're often better off accepting them, but only actually doing them when you happen to be in the area for plot anyway

the only one that's really worth making sure you do while on Route A is the one you get from talking to 2B's operator after a certain point, since that gives you a weapon and can only be done during route A before you do the missile mission, so if you miss it then you have to wait until you're 3/4's through the game and unlock chapter select

I'm glad im not like you fags

By the time I got to the theme park in the first playthrough I was absolutely in love with the game. 9S's playthrough was a bit of a drag but at least he had some new sidequests to do and you could get through it pretty quick.

Combat left a lot to be desired and so did the narrative in certain aspects but the game's atmosphere and route C are what made me love the game despite its faults.

Now that's just being disingenuous. The third playthrough is significantly shorter than the first two. Its more like he's in Act 2 of 3 Acts.

Honestly I think it's just the time I played it. It connected with me and that's what made me care for the characters so much. As I said in a post before there's no real rhyme or reason to it, it's just how I feel. I didn't really connect to any of the characters in Automata and I think that was what made Nier so impactful for me, which in turn also made me just oversee flaws. I'm not going to say I loved the combat of the first Nier or anything, but I never felt bored with it, which I did in Automata. I still think Automata is worth a playthrough, because it is a striking game though.

I wish platinum was allowed to give it more depth because thenplugin chip system was great. Except for the dark souls style body retrieval.

Yeah, but the game basicly treats it like a prolouge
And depending on when you do sidequests either the first or third route can be long

FPBP

I was pretty much hooked from the moment I stumbled into the robot sex cave

You should've played the demo first. It showed how bad the combat is for a platinum game.

It's 60% a glorified porn game, 20% VN, 10% actual video game
