At least we can all agree that Persona 5 is by far the weakest game of the 3 mainline persona games, right?
>not as comfy anymore as P3/P4 >sojiro just a shitty version of dojima >ending is just a massive asspull to present you a final boss >too much femdom for insecure beta males >boring and uninteresting main party >no chemistry between party members >male social links by far the worst in the series >only one acceptable romance option >worst velvet room attendant to date >actual dungeons are a mixed bag, some of them are so fucking awful that they made the tartarus look good >puzzles for actual toddlers >music is mostly shit >mascot character has too much control over your life >questionable balance where 90% of the game is piss easy but sometimes they throw ridiculous enemies in your way that most likely will just kill you on your first encounter
It's a shame that we've been waiting for so long just to play a mediocre version of P3.
Why do those japanese characters look like white people?
Do mirrors exist in japan?
Ethan Carter
White people wish to be so beautiful. Most of them are ugly as sin in real life.

P4 did stuff better. I like their slinks over problem, fix it, they know you're the Phantom thief and it's time to bang. P5 has way better style. But about the same substance.

Sales and very famous life sim elements most probably. Let's be honest, without it's life sim elements, persona is a shitty dungeon crawler than isn't much different from SMT.
Juan Moore
Something something about marketing which turned into an industry standard.
Oliver Murphy
i dunno. it's hard to determine what's the best or worse when every entry has its share of bad gameplay and writing. all that you can really base quality on is how big of a boner the waifus give you. At the very least persona 3 and 4s dungeon """design""" makes it impossible for them to ever be called the best if we were judging this series by the same standards of other games
Due to my Yusuke level autism I will take OP's post gravely seriously.
EVERYONE STAND BACK
>not as comfy anymore as P3/P4 SIGNIFICANTLY more "Comfy" than p3, at par or more so than 4. Okay, you want to play retarded then let's go ahead and check up on those rules.

Nothing of that sort in the OP.
>GR6 >The quality of posts is extremely important to this community. Contributors are encouraged to provide high-quality images and informative comments
The OP post is neither lacking in quality nor is the picture of low quality.
>Sup Forums rule 2 >Flaming/flagrant "fanboyism"/etc. will not be tolerated. There's nothing in that post that has anything to do with fanboyism or flaming. It's discussing how a game in a franchise compares to the other games in the same franchise.

Again, there is no flamewar here and nothing in the OP hints at one.

There is currently no thread like this in the catalogue.

It never stops telling you to do something, then stops you to tell you how to do it, in the mddle of you doing exactly that.
Gavin Lee
The only areas that was the case was combat and dungeon design. P3 had a better and more coherent story. P4 had better group dynamics. P5 has the exact same formula for every non mandatory slink.
Jonathan Martin
>tfw you'll never get Persona games as kino as Persona 1 and 2
Ayden Stewart
There's literally no reason to feel sorry for him, none, he's a literal serial killer who thought a petty complex justified fucking countless people's lives, the Phantom Thieves would probably feel sorry for Hitler if he was in this fucking game, Madarame confesses to letting and watching Yusuke's mum die and Yusuke says 'unforgivable, that and all the other crimes you committed!' then like a few scenes later 'even now I can't bring myself to truly hate him'.
Only person in the entire game, to have a believable, realistic reaction is Ann's absolute fury towards Kamoshida after beating him in his palace and to him trying to make everyone feel sorry for him in the school when he confesses.
So whatever, Akechi's motives ruined the character completely.
Carter Garcia
Kino is the german word for cinema. Unless persona 1 and 2 are physical locations where movies are aired they are not kino. No amount of Sup Forums and Sup Forums shitposting will change the meaning of the word.

Shido's palace has some real shit to deal with, yes, but don't pretend like every dungeon is like that. Okumura's dungeon is the only other big offender due to those robot fights that require you to target certain weaknesses.

It wasn't just >oh his backstory is so sad lets hug him :( Akechi's past resonated with them because, if you paid any fucking attention at all, every single one of them was an outcast in some form or another, but Akechi was the only one who let it consume him. They even make it a point to say that he might not have turned out that way if he met them sooner. Akechi ended up a monster but the Thieves feel bad because they see themselves in him and know that they very well may have ended up the same way had they not all come together.

Yeah, nah, he's a cunt. Thank God Haru met the PV before her father was murdered and was stopped from becoming a tyrant, or Joker whose life was efffectively ruined for doing the right thing, if he hadn't found Ryuji he might have started his line of killings with Sojiro!
Logan Cruz
>I'll just greatly exaggerate this argument to make it seem silly and therefore wrong
excellent strategy user
Nathan Bailey
He didn't exaggerate it though, he just applied it to the other characters that user said were similar. It's the same idea as Adachi, Namatame, and MC in P4, but done in a kind of rushed way. I guess the writers assumed you played P4 and can fill in the gaps yourself.
Hudson Jenkins
It's irrelevant, no matter what the reason, some things are completely unforgivable and I'm just disappointed that the Phantom Thieves felt sorry for an unrepentant murderer because his daddy didn't love him.
In a way, this shows just how Kamoshida was the best villain in the game, he made you hate him and the characters hated him too so I felt like we were on the same page, the minute they started getting their small violins out for Akechi I was out,
Levi Miller
I agree I guess, but it was no big deal for me.
I can't believe anons we're constantly "spoiling" the game by saying Goro was the traitor, as if that spoils anything. Goro is a chump; he faked all his detective stuff by committing the crimes himself, of course the PT could trick him easily.
Levi Ward
It's most certainly an exaggeration. Both the congition of the individual and situation they go through would effect how they turn out. Haru wouldn't suddenly become a tyrant, but who knows what would have become of her if she spent the rest of her life being resented and taken advantage of by her company employees and living under the thumb of her scumbag fiance? The whole point they were trying to make with Akechi's character, and just about every SLink, is that being an outcast can damage a person. Nobody in the main cast would end up as a serial killer, but seeing Akechi showed them that they could have easily fallen into complete despair and become warped just like he did.
>I'm just disappointed that the Phantom Thieves felt sorry for an unrepentant murderer because his daddy didn't love him
well yeah, I'd be disappointed too if that's all there was to it
Kamoshida is in fact the best villain though

You don't think his backstory was completely rushed? He spent the entire game deceiving us, tried to kill us twice, then he admitted to causing everything and killing practically everyone, but because he gave us a quick run down of his '''''terrible''''' life suddenly he's a sympathetic character.
Let's not forget that his deception of opposing the thieves was a far more intriguing setup then what he became.
It's like he goes through a last minute character arc in 5 minutes. And you've got to love the 'have your cake and eat it' writing of having people like Haru say 'I can't forgive the dude, but I totally feel sorry for him' so she hates him but she totally doesn't because hating a guy who murdered your father is a huge no-no for a good guy, our heroes have to have the incredible spiritual maturity of Jesus apparently.
Thomas Taylor
1 didn't age well at all.
Only 2 is worth a damn out of the hipster Personas.
David Nguyen
Here's where I agree with you >Game is too easy overall >Morgana has too much influence on the MC's life >Dungeons are hit and miss, and usually just become repetitive Beyond that I'd add >Akechi has terrible motivations >Shido is just a cartoon villain >Tacked on "stealth" felt like complete shit and was mostly just annoying.
Overall, the game is between an 8.5-9/10. It's really solid and would benefit from a timeline extension a la P4G. It could also greatly benefit from a direct sequel. Many of the issues (such as Morgana telling you to go to bed) are fixed in NG+ as your maxed SLs give you limited carryover of benefits, and your social stats remain maxed so it's trivial to get ones like Kawakami to maximum. Also, the repetitive dungeons are far better than P3 and P4s randomized ones, but I still would like them to be a bit more interesting.
Jonathan Cox
Persona 5 is the best since 2 though?
Not saying 3 or 4 are not good but 5 is a titanic accomplishment and an instant classic
Isaiah Lewis
Eh it's not just Akechi, the last two dungeons are incredibly rushed. It works but it just keeps throwing shit every minute.
William Hill
Maybe it's because he followed Kamoshida, but Madarame was the low point of the game for me, he's a Mementos level threat at best.
Xavier Richardson
5 is a much more finished, cohesive art statement than 3 or 4. I think that makes it a much better product.
Blake Long
Something I absolutely love in P5 that I will feel missing when I play the older ones is the whole message board aspect and the fact that your team is the talk of the town. I always love reading peoples comments on the board or walking by. For some reason it gives a very comfy feeling knowing the world is watching you
William Morris
Madarame and Kaneshiro do feel like filler.
Josiah Scott
I kinda agree, and I also don't like how the Palaces worked as "this person is kind of bad" to the ending suddenly saying "this person is scum, do you hate them yet? they're terrible."
Madarame was one of the worst in that respect. I feel like most of the issues with the game relate to them thinking casuals need everything explained 3 times.
Levi Torres
Yeah Madarame felt like "yeah, this guy is a dick, and we have to save this kid because he's on the game's cover, but is this really an issue?"
Blake Scott
>At least we can all agree
No
John Allen
Not when it's slink story and group are weaker than previous games. Slinks are all the same formula. Story is dwarfed by 2 and 3 which are more cohesive. 4 has a better group dynamic and feels like a team. 5 is good but it has flaws..
Dylan Stewart
I completely forgot who Kaneshiro even was until his shadow appeared in the Mementos dungeon.
Landon Cox
How can a 17-year old be this THICC
David Kelly
Well Kaneshiro, by virtue of being a Yakuza probably deserved it, Madarame literally had to throw out 'Oh by the way I killed your mom because I'm so evil'.
Josiah Reed
...
Samuel Hill
Persona 3's SLinks are terrible: Kenji, the bookstore, Chibihiro, the fucking network president...
None of them have anything meaningful to them. It's just fucking filler. With Persona 5 you at least have character development, you learn more and do more. You actually make a difference and build a confidant in them.
Just face it that you're blowing out your ass.

Bentley Adams
>You don't think his backstory was completely rushed?
It's not as rushed as you think. He talks about being an orphan more than once before you encounter him on the ship, and I'm pretty sure they give his backstory when they introduce his character on the talk show. The first time you see him actually upset is when his favor starts to tank with the public, which plays into how desperately he wants to be admired. He's also thirsty as fuck for Shido's approval in every scene with the two. It's not like he was a 100% normal and upstanding citizen with no issues who happened to kill people once in a while, his shit is foreshadowed quite a bit.
>but because he gave us a quick run down of his '''''terrible''''' life suddenly he's a sympathetic character
sym·pa·thy: understanding between people; common feeling >>>common feeling Yes, Akechi is supposed to be sympathetic. It doesn't mean that he is correct, that you should side with him, that he's a good person, or anything like that. It means that there is a common feeling. That feeling is "being an outcast," and even if the player doesn't sympathize with him they should be able to at least see why the cast does.
>she hates him but she totally doesn't because hating a guy who murdered your father is a huge no-no for a good guy
She does hate him, how the fuck does knowing a bit about what he went through negate her hatred for him? It doesn't. Just because she's not stomping and screaming I HATE YOU doesn't mean she doesn't feel it, especially with a more reserved person like Haru.
Ian Anderson
In p5 it's the same every time. Person has problem you fix it if they're a chick you can fuck them. they know you're the phantom thief. It's all the same fucking formula. Unjust situation that you have to help them with. Some are interesting but after a few you know where they all go. I wish they were better but they aren't.
Jace Flores
>if I dumb things down to where they are all the same, people will think I'm good at arguments
Play the game kid, everyone has their own unique struggles and motivations.

>sojiro just a shitty version of dojima Dojima was a busy policeman who had to learn how to be a better father from the protagonist. You help out Sojiro too, but you don't need to teach him how to be a better dad, he's fantastic at that already. I know this entire thing is copypasta and bait but this is the worst one on here. They're not the same character and Sojiro is clearly better, if you think Dojima is better it's just clear nostalgia.
Austin Wood
Not gonna lie, I just wanted to finish and get over it already after some time.
I skipped a lot of text after some point, cause it was always the same shit or literally worthless unfunny smalltalk.
>random people in the city or school >people in the subway >people in the loading screen >90% of the chats >teacher >questioning with sae
You can skip all of that without missing out on anything really. The chat is the worst offender though, I think I skipped 20+ chats where they always worry if "current target" will fuck us and you always say something like "we'll be fine".
The team never really interacts with each other save for chats which are 99% of the time are garbage and their social links are rather mediocre as well.
