even though i've owned mk8 since 2015 i'm still pretty excited for this. i was more than done with mk8 but this coming out has made me want to enjoy it again. it's also nice that more people can now experience this game because it's easily the best mario kart

I already played it years ago and I had a fucking lot of fun. I see they added some stuff and made some small tweaks but, man, it's not enough for me.
It's like those "New play control" games on Wii which were ports of GC games with motion controls added. Not a really big deal.

No it doesn't. It has new maps designed for battle mode but those aren't what he was asking about. The game has no new race tracks aside from bundling in the DLC for the first game as part of the base package. If you'd already bought that DLC the only new thing this game offers is the battlemode, some balance changes, a few new characters and being able to hold two items at once.

My nephew bought my Wii U off of me two years ago, so to be able to play this again now that I have a Switch is great. I didn't buy any of the DLC on Wii U, so this is even better.

They run at the same framerate. Wiiu has a slightly lower resolution unless you're emulating it in 8k on cemu obviously

Specs barely above a wiiu and it's made out of cheap plastic that bends permanently the first time it overheats (which it will do regularly)

Literally nothing you do in mk8 matters because one blue, red shell combo followed by a lightning and you're in 8th with 0 coins and no possibility of recovery, meanwhile the asshole who got bullet bill from 8th wins.
Besides I don't think it's a good idea to bash one nintendo product as a "kid's toy" without recognizing the switch you own is also a kid's toy.

Bullet bills will carry you up to 4th or 3rd at best. Also, you're complaining about items but Double Dash is the one that had bowser shells, chain chomps and le koopas of infinite triple reds.

The difference is even if you're throw into 8th in double dash, in the last lap, you can still recover thanks to all that broken bullshit, it makes the fight over top 3 interesting as all hell.
Coins effectively ruined mario kart because once you lose coins you're done, all you're going to pick up is 1 coin and a 1 coin power up which won't get you anywhere and won't take anyone down.

There's no reason to assume there won't eventually be a remake or at least a VC release I guess.
