Is Halo an arena shooter or a twitch shooter?
Is Halo an arena shooter or a twitch shooter?
>you can see the ringworld curve on the horizon
wow Halo is fucking shit
Yes.
Old Halo was an arena shooter.
Nu-Halo is a fucked up amalgamation of both that is shit at both.
It's a shit shooter
What's a twitch shooter?
Shooters that are designed to have a large audience when they're streamed. It's either something very competitive, or it's a meme game, or both.
halo 1 should be f2p and still have support.
Are there any good arena shooters left?
why is that bad?
why the fuck wouldn't you see it
Halo 5
Because a ringworld is a million kilometers wide and hundreds of times that in circumference.
Meaning that when you'd see it on the horizon, it should taper off to nothing, or a mountain becoming a thin line in the distance. In fact except for that it would look exactly like you're standing on a sphere or a plane.
LOL.
Wait until after e3 for the answer to that question
The halo arrays are only ten thousand kilometers in diameter and a few hundred in width, you faggot.
>i didn't play LOL
this.
seems maximum comfy to live on.
no, I wouldn't call it either.
More like arcade shooter
Damn, so everyone who played Halo 5 liked it? Really making me think right now.....
Halos are nowhere near as large as the ring world you autist
>wow wtf why didn't bungie make the primary motif in their game look incredibly unimpressive
fuck off back to stardestroyer.com or something
It's an arena shooter but not a twitch shooter
Then that's even more retarded.
What the fuck does it even orbit around?
A gas giant
your mom
>tfw you read the Culture novels and they describe life on a ringworld, with nigh-omnipotent AI watching over everything and with limitless wealth and freedom for each citizen
arena shooters are twitch shooters
op is underage
So how does it get sunlight?
From the sun
Don't listen to the retard. A twitch shooter is based on reaction time. Health is low, so the first shooter is typically the winner. Perks and weapons tend to be customizable before the game starts and are in your hands at the start of the game.
Arena shooters are more focused on movement and map layout. Players have more health and can turn on the person shooting them if they're skilled enough. Power ups or weapons spawn on the map with timers.
But if it's orbiting a gas giant it will be obscured for most of the time, either by the shadow the gas giant or itself.
But we can easily see Jupiters and Saturns moons at regular intervals
>play Halo 1-3 with a friend
>it's still great
How did they do it, bros?
Because they made a game that was fun
>What is geosynchronous orbit
If we go by this then Halo is definitely an arena shooter.
I'm still waiting on Halo Reach Anniversary...
I'd buy an Xbone for that.
...
>BEEP BEEP TIME FOR VIDEO GAMES
>Halo Reach Anniversary
They're not even gonna make a H3A, what makes you think they would waste their time with Reach?
Installation 04 was in a Lagrange point between its gas giant and another planet, for what it's worth.
Put Halo reach in the good and it's a nice list. It's not as great as the original trilogy but saying it isn't good is a stretch.
>375321087
>Reach in the "not good" category
>ODST considered good
Hello shit taste.
It's a faggot shooter, for faggots.
Do you really think they're going to be able to resist double dipping that cash cow, especially with how the 343 games are going?
Remaster, upres, more frames, you know what I mean.
And I don't think it'll happen but I can always hope. Hope for the future.
>Halo CE
>good
>console rts
>good
>Halo Reach
>bad
how does a man fuck up a list this badly
CE and Wars were both good
Anniversary is literally CE though.
I'd put reach in meh and wouldn't even include Ann. or MCC
pic related
I guess that would make more sense
Are you talking about H3A or HRA? Because H3A has already been officialy confirmed to not be in development many time.
I don't know, after TMCC i feel like they're probably avoiding that for a while. But then again, they just released a Halo wars remaster so who knows.
Old halo was a consolized, dumbed-down version of arena shooters while nu-halo is somewhere between that and a twitch shooter.
Do you even hear yourself? Rough max distance you can see on land at sea level is 8 miles - if the world literally curves up into the sky, you'd be able to see everything from your point of view up the slope. Depending if the ground is curved within the ring, you might not be able to see the edges, but cmon man, really?
The rings have a 10K diameter, about the size of earth.
Just because they aren't double dipping Halo 3 now doesn't mean they won't in the future. I am extremely surprised that you could possibly believe they won't do it when they feel the time is right.
I can't remember any ringworlds coming up in the culture novels, although I've only read the first half of the series. Which one?
Reach was the beginning of the end for both canon and gameplay, my only real problem with ODST is that it was way overpriced as a spinoff.
CEA looks like a completely different game, nothing looks remotely like it did in the original because they wanted to use their Reach assets instead of actually updating the graphics, H2A did it successfully but unfortunately it's dragged down by the MCC.
Are you agreeing with me? Because I can't hear you refuting my statement.
CE, 2, 3, HW, ODST, Reach, CEA, 4, TMCC, 5, HW2 were all good. Seriously, am i the only one who genuinely loves all Halos so far? How can you all live with such a disgust and anger towards everything.
Except your original argument was retarded, and you'd still be able to see the ring from wherever you were standing, barring weather conditions.
Meanwhile a couple of third worlders remade the entire campaign of the first game with entirely new areas
>you will never play a gritty Halo game where you play as a normal marine
>How can you all live with such a disgust and anger towards everything
Sup Forums
well not larry niven-style ringworlds that encircle the sun, more like the smaller halo ringworlds, you know the orbitals
it was part of at least player of games, look to windward and consider phlebas(where they have a giant boat that sails around the orbital-spanning river)
It doesn't surround the planet. It's a satellite.
I don't know, the bald guy at 343 straight up said it wasn't worth the time/money. Such a shame, H3A was the last Halo game that needed a "remake" imo.
This is running on a game engine older than the average Sup Forums poster
The term twitch shooter predates twitch you fucking imbecile.
As much as a faggot as you're being in your other posts you're right about this. Even at 10,000 km in diameter the maximum visibility through atmosphere in perfect conditions is 296 km.
Even if it's a massive plain with an unobstructed view, you'd barely see the an arc of the halo 3 degrees above the horizon before it fades into the haze.
ODST?
>ODST
>Normal
ODSTs are fucking lunatics, there's nothing normal about them
Dude Threshold is fucking massive compared to Halo. That's why they're called gas GIANTS
Are you accounting for the fact that a Halo's artificial atmosphere is extremely thin compared to a real one?
That's because they made the mistake of making the Master Chief Collection, gotta wait for a new gen to be worth the money.
For scale
you dont actually mean it's ready? last time I checked they had just finished the silent cartographer.
stop bragging because you read Ringworld and get over it, it's a fucking game you loser
Halo's atmosphere is only a tiny sliver on the ring, and doesn't fill up all the space in between it
So yea you can see the rest of the ring because you're looking though mostly empty space
The first half of the campaign is done, up until Assault on the Control Room I beleive
What engine?
The original Halo Combat Evolved engine finalized in 2001
Looks like it too.
This thread is going full autismo and i can't understand what everyone's talking about.
>ringworlds are cool as fuck but unstable in nature
>no material could ever hope to hold it together either
>gas giants are radioactive as fuck and would wipe the ring of life
>tfw no other games featuring ringworlds
I'm using earth numbers for reference, but even if it was a third that (Everest) it's only going to go up to about 10 degrees. assuming it scales linearly.
Those marines would also all be really tired if it was that thin.
If that's the case by means of nazi space magic you might be able to see it overhead, but then you'd still have a fadeout region where the light reflected will be obstructed by the air between you and the surface. So you could see it up overhead, but it's going to kind of fade in from teh artificial horizon.
t. underage kiddie
>nowhere to buy CE digitally
>$15 for a used version for a game over 10 years old
what the fuck
I'm not going to count the MCC because that's just a reboot of the original trilogy.
I don't like H1A because I think they went overboard on all the lighting, and it doesn't really feel true to the original.
H2A was a fan-fucking-tastic remake, I cannot see a single thing wrong with it, and if I had to say anything about it, I'd have preffered Blur Studios to have tried to copy the original camera angles and subtleties of the original.
Loved Reach and ODST, nothing to say about them, cept the MCC version of ODST isn't dark enough for me to need the VISR, which breaks that mechanic for me.
4 had some good stuff going for it, but I think the Didact shouldn't have died there (in the comics rather), or if he did die there, you should have been able to see him get killed without just assuming he died. I'd have Didact be the main enemy for the new trilogy, along with Jul M'Dama being a secondary antagonist.
5, just what the fuck. Jul gets 30 seconds of screen time, half of which he's dead for, then never mentioned again, the covenant enemies are really just an afterthought, the promethians are just kinda boring, and Cortana should've stayed dead. Also, there is no fucking humor in the game at all, it's just not at all a Bungie game anymore. Also, who the fuck wants to play as anything other than the Chief? People got pissy enough over playing as the Arbiter in H2, but that imo was done well, because it was a direct relation to the previous story in H1 and showed exactly where the Covenant started to break apart, which led to the story of 3, ODST etc.
If Locke had died in the first mission of the game, I wouldn't have given him a second thought once that mission was done. Buck, on the other hand, I know him. I know his story.
Exposition without force feeding > Gameplay with no given story and a requirement to read up your history before you play.
Fuck 343. Also, 4+5 had an artstyle which basically said fuck you to Bungie.
>tfw no games featuring o'neill cylinders that let you traverse the entire thing
so user was a lying faggot after all.
The earth's atmosphere is only 16kms thick, and that's what you'd have to look through to see the other side of the ring, double that and you have a mere 32kms which is a hell of a lot less than your 296km number
For real? Goddamn. It's like Titanfall 2 running on source.
I've seen fucking gold source mods with better particle effects. Get some glasses fuckface.
Pirate it
>no games featuring a 1:1 dyson sphere with unlimited draw distance
Thanks, Obama
No you haven't nigger
>elites that short
Go shill your Slavic shovelware somewhere else, squatty. Shitty fan remakes are a diamond dozen.
...
>diamond dozen
Not him but AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
You know that Elites bend their knees in combat, right? Brings them eye level with Master Chief who's over 7 feet tall
Source? Having trouble finding this shit
