Play the game. Use your brain. It has a pretty limited moveset heavily telegraphed by it's movement and sounds.

Stop hiding behind a wall like a faggot.

>Having trouble with armored spider

Come back after you try to beat old demon king with only fists

dodge her attacks, hit her after she does her cleave thing, run away from her giant explosion after you get a few hits in on her, repeat until dead

there's no fucking room to move when the boss and his fireballs fill the entire tunnel

old demon king is easy as shit compared to this boss, at least you fight old demon king in a proper arena

Bet that sounded way cooler in your head.

Use magic, it makes the fight trivial.

Super easy mode, that fog spell? forgot its name, hides you from range and he wont even attack you till in his face
Normal easy mode, just fucking walk up and smack him while running left and right. Then run back when you see him about to explode.

>dodge her attacks
they're all homing and there's almost no room to dodge, an I suddenly supposed to perfectly i-frame through every single attack?

Walk up to him, avoiding his fireballs and webs along the way
When in melee range just put your shield up and stand in between the two front legs
He'll eventually lower his two front legs. Switch to two handed and continually attack until he raises his two front legs again. Put your shield up, wait and then attack for a second and then third time
When he raises his legs the third time run all the way to the fog gate you came in from and wait until his massive fire attack stops
Run back to him and repeat the process. You seem to be able to squeeze in two or three attack phases before he unleashes his massive fire attack

If you're having trouble with this Flamelurker is going to absolutely rape you

I'm a str build :(

If you can, use the Steel Shield that's easily found earlier in the level. Use it two handed to block the fireballs. That's what I did the first time through and it worked out. That said, it's also possible to dodge through the fireballs with good timing. It's a tough fight at first but it's pretty easy once you've got it down. The Old Hero boss fight is similar in a sense; it's super easy once you've figured his weakness and how to exploit it but it's really tough otherwise.

Ah, crap. Well, try learning the move set as best you can and trudge your way through it, haha. Sorry to give such a BS answer, but I never made it past tower Knight with a str build...I only beat DeS with sorcery kinds of doods. Best of luck, bother, don't be ashamed of glitching your levels up, the game is still hard, but it becomes more like DS1 instead of a futt buck fest.

fuck. I beat tower knight on my first try with melee only but this fucker is raping me

I fucking hate it when he spits that web on you and then combo rapes your face. Best of luck, man. If you can manage it, go to there 4th area with the skeletons and grind some levels, snag a spell, and fuck that thing up in honor of all those who quit at that part.

Its so simple. If you don't want to cheese him with arrows, you'll just need a good shield. If you've leveled up your stamina a little it should be fine.

1. Block the fireballs with your shield, running forward between onslaughts. Don't panic if you get webbed.
2. Once you reach his chamber block his horizontal slashes and fire breath. He will do ground a slam where he sit there, arms to the side for awhile. Attack his head now. Save some stamina for blocking his slash attack after he gets up. Keep doing this.
3. Eventually he will get pissed and start glowing. Run back to entrance area as soon as you see him do this.
4. After he's done letting off steam, run back to his chamber again, blocking fireballs along the way.

Rinse & repeat. Keep an eye on your stamina and manage it weel and everything should be fine.

When it does the arm swipe roll towards it instead of away, the arms will just go through you

When it falls down and is VISIBLY CHARGING FIRE you have more than enough time to run to the end of the tunnel

When it shoots silk just roll through it again

DeS has the most easily abused rolls in the series

GUYS I DID IT MELEE ONLY WOOOOOOO

I basically just tanked his melee attacks with my heater shield and retreated all the way to the back every time he exploded

What the fuck is that awful music

by the way, is melee only viable in demons souls? I've beaten every other souls game melee only and I've never had an issue. Will this stray still work in DeS?

Isn't an armored spider just a smaller crab without the powerful claws and ability to go underwater?

Absolutely. I prefer it.

>only souls game to make you use different gear for certain areas

Reaching those mining dudes with my slashy sword was a great day. Realizing I did shit for damage and then coming back with a spear. So damn satisfying.

no because it doesn't have big pinchers

awesome, thanks

>tfw you died to the tutorial boss and never got a second chance

this guy is annoying as fuck. just dodge the fire balls and bait him to drop his body down, then attack a few times. if he charges the fireball run like hell down the tunnel

roll into all his attacks
hit him a lot
when he charges up his fire attack run to the very back of the tunnel

yes, but I'd recommend having a bow ready just for the valley of defilement and those fucking flies.

also, the blue dragon if you care for the trophy

yeah I was in the same boat an hour ago. I'm playing offline but the devs left messsages saying thrust is effective against lizard miners so I just started using my mail breaker
also:
>that part where the guy is blocking the tunnel while dogs are chasing you
who the fuck brings dogs to a mine? thank god they made that elevator shortcut

If this is the first game you've had an i-frame dodge in, you should reconsider the genres you play.

Dodging with i-frames isn't a mechanic that magically changes with each game, master one dodge and you master them all.

Unless your idea of a hack n' slash is Bayonetta or something. Super forgiving dodges.

demon souls music is really hit or miss
some tracks are great though
youtube.com/watch?v=9piElENpvmM

Not the same guy but what hack n slash would you say has hard dodges or parries?

Something like DMC or NG? Where does MGR:R fall on the spectrum compared to Bayo

It's viable, although you will want an upgraded bow for a few really annoying situations.

DeS has a much bigger focus on finding the right tool for the job, instead of picking your favourite tool and applying it to everything. World 4 will be nearly impossible for anyone who doesn't have a blunt damage weapon, but if you do its piss easy even at base level. Luckily there is a good mace hidden in the first area of world 5. Which happens to have everything weak to fire, so you'll want the Dragon Long Sword from 2-2. And in world 2, especially VS the bosses it's good to have the Flame Resistant shield you find in 1-1.

But you can only carry a certain amount in your inventory so you have to pick carefully what you take with you. It's an interesting system, but really annoying since overburdened items get left on the ground as player-drops, which get deleted after a load screen, and there's no way to tell how much somethings weighs before you pick it up. If they automatically got sent to storage it would be perfect.

This kinda makes me feel nostalgic because it sounds like all of the From Software soundtracks pre Dark Souls

>picking your favourite tool and applying it to everything
fuggg I always do this. Guess I'll have to be more adaptable

Believe it or not, the safest place to stand is directly in front of it. When it slams down its two front legs, you'll miss them by being right in the middle of them. The only time you need to run away is when it does a fire attack. Every other attack can be easily blocked or avoided.

I know what you mean, its pretty damn good.
Its taking me straight back to ER personally man, not sure why but damn that game left a huge impact on me.
Too bad the controls are fucked

In the first area of 2-2, 3-1, 4-1 and 5-1 you can find a crushing battle axe, poison rapier, enchanted falchion and blessed mace respectively
these will give you a solid tool for any encounter

>tfw shot it to death with arrows like 8 years ago
The camera angle from the hallway is terrible. It doesn't look like there's room to fight it with a sword back there, let alone him actually voluntarily moving back if you get close.

Overall, Platinum games have about the same dodge. The parry window in MGR is about closer to the dodge frames in DMC3 and RoyalGuard requires you be damn-near perfect as well as learn good fundamentals of reading your enemy patterns and sounds.

Bayonetta does have the Moon of Mahaa Kalaa with really tight timing requirements, but that can be more or less spammed with the input it takes and Bayonetta's enemies don't make for good learning.

It's more about internalizing the moment you take damage from any certain attack and retaining that. Fatrolling or even medium rolling in Souls games do fine for it, but RG in DMC3 or simply jumping to use those i-frames I think is most effective.

Gotcha, I wasnt into Bayo much so thanks for letting me know. MGR was alright to me, annoying sometimes with the controls even using the buttons for directionals. The timing was never too hard but satisfying with how precise you had to be,

I always used to midroll in das1 and 2. Good shit learning how to dodge in full black iron haha.

I should play more DMC

To clarify: By dodge frames in DMC3 I mean the Trickster style's dodge, which is somewhere in-between Platinum dodges and midrolling. It's the recommended style for beginners on a fresh save.

IIRC, Just Guard with RG is only 3 frames. Aside from Just Release or positioning with Trickster's dodge, you can learn your timing with no directional inputs required in DMC3. I still always recommend playing release order (sans 2) to build on your fundamentals before going nuts with variety. 1 also has the best enemy variety, ironically.

ARROWS OR MAGIC
SORRY STR FAG BUT YOU SWORD IS OF NO USE HERE

LOL THIS KIND OF SHIT IS WHY I LOVE DEMONS OVER DARK SOULS

he takes no fucking damage from physical attacks
go get the crescent falchion from the storm level and it'll become piss easy

Dodge everything on the way to it.
Once you're there make sure to back off from it's body slam it does every now and then. When it starts charging up it's flame attack run all the way back to the start of the tunnel. Repeat.

It's honestly one of my favorite bosses in Souls. I think it has the best use of a boss arena.

Purple flame shield then

Thanks I'll start from the beginning then when I do.
>you can learn your timing with no directional inputs required in DMC3
I like that.
I like that a lot.

I beat her on my fifth-fourth try but I can't remember exactly how I did it. I know you have to run as she starts to explode or else you're fucked, but other than that just keep up heals and dodge a lot.

>Tfw trying to get summoned for Old Monk for that sweet, sweet ass head collar
This is going to take a while

Still haven't beaten that guy. You get a chance later but it's not as satisfying.

HAHA JOKES ON YOU I JUST BEAT HIM WITH ZERO PROJECTILES

I feel like the fall damage is super weird in this game. It seems like you either take a tiny bit of damage or you die instantly

SHIT taste

Demon's arguably has the best soundtrack

Only bested by Bloodborne desu
