How will this game end?
How will this game end?
With the heat death of our universe.
Introducing another fantasy beast race that existed in Warcraft before the April Fools joke will send a bunch of autistic NEETs into a frenzy
This will cause a kneejerk reaction by the devs to cryingwojak and quit. The dev team is now composed of their bootlickers led by the man responsible for Diablo 3 being a piece of shit.
They recoil to the safety of elves orcs and green fire trying to save a sinking ship with no endgame strategy.
And it already happened.
except half of wow's remaining subscribers are chinese
the game will live on for a long, long time. it won't finally shut down until well into wow2's life cycle.
The only advancements to the game are the skinner box treadmill systems on top of a content corpse.
The game cannot be called alive after WoD.
>implying there will be a wow2
It already did.
it ended with cataclysm
>implying there won't be
confirmed retarded
WoW might not be as popular as it used to be but it still rakes in cash for actiblizzard. If it even has 10% of its peak subs then it's still successful. And with the cash shop they don't even need that many subs for it to be stupidly profitable.
When they add pointless rep grinds with no real payout. Endless daily quests with RNG rewards. Balancing classes around legendary items that are RNG drops. Facebook style clash of clans type garbage. Hand out gold like candy and inflate the living shit out of the economy, do nothing with the shitty professions. Make sure your lead dev balances the game around playing on a fucking tablet for good measure. Don't forget to ignore all player feedback, especially in alpha and beta.
>le chinese sub maymay
Look into that. It counts people with leftover gametime on their chinese sub model. It's the same as saying Overwatch has 30m players, when maybe 75% of those haven't touched the game in months.
Take it back to vanilla. People can loot your gear when they kill you. Building bases. Basically rust in wow.
Now that would really kill it.
UGH JUST FUCKING DIE ALREADY I WANT TO PLAY WORLD OF STARCRAFT
YOU KNOW IT'D BE FREE BILLIONS FOR SHIZZARD
FREE
>confirmed retarded
gonna need a source on that
Yeah they'd totally make an mmo for a dedfranchise instead of milking overwatch like they planned in the beginning.
It already did when they released Wrath.
blizzard are stretched too thin these days to make a new IP worth shit
an MMO is a huge undertaking and would have a bigger team than any of its current projects
they need to stop spreading their talent so thin.
>World if Starcraft
I'd only play it if I could be Zerg, but I have no idea how that would work.
It wont they flat out said wow would still be alive in 2025 they have no plans of killing off their biggest cash cow.
Probably with one of those ritual mass suicides.
Warcraft already ended user, don't you remember Illidan killing Arthas at the end of WC3 and everyone living happily ever after?
i feel as if MMO's are no longer feasible from a production point of view. MMO's had budgets twice that of AAA games in 2000 and with how expensive AAA games are today, the money would be astronomical
Why do forests in World of Warcraft look so fucking good? When was the last time you saw a forest in a game that actually looked like a forest?
Reminder that Everquest is still running and putting out expansions.
WoW isn't going anywhere.
it ended 5 years ago
Ending is not the same as "dying"
ha!
They'll bring Arthas back to life somehow before they put that sick puppy down.
A better question would be how much shit they'll tape on it before shutting it down.
I would love to see an MMO go fucking ham with its budget and tech. If anyone has the money to do it, its Blizz.
TOR did that. 250 million dollar budget.
Look how that turned out.
>i feel as if MMO's are no longer feasible from a production point of view. MMO's had budgets twice that of AAA games in 2000 and with how expensive AAA games are today, the money would be astronomical
It's really that a technical jump for MMOs on the whole isn't technically feasible period. If you really think about it, the key thing to an MMO is persistence and server-side code. WoW worked so well because there's no physics, everything's static, you can't dodge projectiles by moving out of the way, etc.
Now think about making a next-gen MMO. You'd probably want some real interaction with the world, you'd want more active combat, and more people per instance. Well guess what? All of the calculations would have to be done on the server, which means that you're looking at a fucking huge bill from Amazon/Google/Microsoft or if your company uses their own datacenter you're looking at spinning up a fuck ton of servers to manage the whole thing. And for what? So that a bunch of people can ERP in the forest? The value add just isn't there.
it was tried with swtor. didnt work
yeah wildstar tried to do that. i think the MMO is dead. MOBAs are taking the place
>not looking forward to World of Warcraft: Scourge
>tfw Baneling dps
>amazing burst but awful sustain
>keep having to reroll
