I never cared for this game, but it made a huge success in Japan, is it good? Looks like an Animal Crossing clone.
Also, will Nintendo still keep the Mii? I mean, can we expect another game for Switch featuring them?

It's nothing like Animal Crossing.
It's basically Sims Lite with a larger focus on random events.
how would you rate it?
You don't directly control your Miis. You do stuff for them, buy them clothes and food(they don't die, but they're happier if you feed them), but mostly just watch their wacky antics. It's entertaining, but shallow.
The Switch has Miis, but not Miiverse. You can play them in Mario Kart 8, same as on Wii U, so I'm assuming some games will also feature them eventually.
Barely a game/10
then how did it sell so much?
I wouldn't really call it a game, 2bh. If you're one of those guys that lives in a streetpass heavy area, or create a bunch of miis of your friends (ie, insane), I'm sure you can get a lot of fun out of it
If you're expecting something similar to animal crossing you'll be extremely disappointed. There's not even really a game at all with Tomodachi Life, it's just random events and dressing up your Miis.
Do you honestly care?
Are you just looking at this because it's $20? Are you that starved for games?
Because Japanese people. Over there, it's called Tomodachi Collection because the game keeps track of everything you buy and they love collecting things. Over here, they renamed it to appeal to Sims-loving Americans, but that's not really what the game is so it didn't work.
I'm looking at it because the japanese audience (which knows a lot about games) seems to like it a lot, I think I shouldn't expect westerners to understand the nuances and make a good critique of a japanese game. I'll try it myself.
>I'm looking at it because the japanese audience (which knows a lot about games) seems to like it a lot
Dude, they spend thousands on shallow, repetitive Mobage.
>it's popular so it's good
call of duty confirmed pinnacle of west
granblue confirmed pinnacle of japan
Its good on doing what it does, which isnt something most player would like.
Basically you import miis and look at them interacting one with each other, mostly in crazy jap ways.
My gf spent I don't know how many hours into it because she loves put all her fav chars from games/animes into it and watch how they interact, usually satisfying her yaoi headcanons.
It either your type of game or its not.
There are a few minigames but they are very banrebones.
Tomodachi Life is fun, but its more of an Android App than a game which is fun at first but when you see all the dialogue it gets boring. If you want and actual game with Miis I sugest that you take a look at Miitopia, which uses the Tomodachi relationships/personality system in an RPG.
i wish i had a gf who plays Nintendo games
It's a very addicting game depending on your preferences. For me it was a godsend since I absolutely love fishbowl-like games.
It's not too interactive and is more focused on random events and nudging your customized citizens to what you want. I sank hours upon hours into the thing. I'm waiting for a sequel at this point since although it has lots of replayability, there's just a limit to how much content the game can hold.
Yup. I bought that piece of shit expecting something like animal crossing. What a fucking waste.
>the japanese audience (which knows a lot about games)
That's the stupidest thing I've ever read. Their taste is a mixed bag like any other.
>usually satisfying her yaoi headcanons.
I thought the game didn't allow guy/guy.
there was some controversy regarding that at the time, right? Nintendo even said they would include more gay persons in their games, I think Miitopia has gay couples.
They just make their character the opposite gender.
Just make a male mii and tell the game its female.
You can dress them as males anyway, the game doesn't really limit anything.
I died a little inside when she read jojo and made an abdul female.
Ew.
The game is basically a very advanced tamagotchi, is not a game that you play is more of a game that you just take a look at and "play".
If you enjoy to see virtual entities to do stuff, then you will like it, in the game you can interact with the miis and see what they do then decide something simple like relationships, food or clothes etc, but that is pretty much all you can do.
Not a bad game, just different.
>bought game, put in 50/50 2hus and random vidya/anime characters
>enjoy playing the best damn tamagotchi ever made
>at some point hack 3ds, decide to download the game digitally to have another apartment
>"hey what if I put in 99 variations of my mii and my waifu?"
>enjoy it even more
the mii games are fucking hell though, nearly impossible. I'm really looking forward to miitopia if I can get the same mii interaction with an actual video game this time
so what is the consensus? Good or bad?
It really just depends on your likes and dislikes, If you like having total control over a game, you probably won't like it. If you want a charming and fun experince, you will like it.
It is almost, but not quite, completely unlike Animal Crossing.
