"console killer"

>Never includes the cost of a Windows licenses
>frequently uses preowned parts
>"gaiz u'll never believe this sick case I found in the dumpster!!"
>"Just scrounge up a keyboard and mouse. effectively $0"
>often not actually a build video; just some broke dude who speced out parts on a website and read them aloud over gameplay footage

I keep considering building a PC and ditching my PS4, or building one instead of buying whatever a PS5 is, but this "console killer" shit turns out to be a fucking meme every damn time.

If you want to spend good money to get the best performance possible, then build a PC the right way. Otherwise you'll be paying higher than console costs for parts that will quickly be outdated.

>Never includes the cost of a Windows licenses
They are either absolutely free, or around 20 bucks, tops.
It's the same as saying "console costs never include a TV!"

>frequently uses preowned parts
And why wouldn't you use them, if they're available? People buy used consoles, peripherals and games, all the time too.
>"gaiz u'll never believe this sick case I found in the dumpster!!"
anyone hyping up their machine by its case is an instant moron. It's the one part you can save up on.
>"Just scrounge up a keyboard and mouse. effectively $0"
That is true. KB & Mice are fucking everywhere. And even if you'd bought a brand new set, you can get serviceable budle for literally tenner.
>often not actually a build video; just some broke dude who speced out parts on a website and read them aloud over gameplay footage
There's hundreds of PC building videos and text tutorials online. Don't tell me you thought that every PC is somehow built differently? It's literally fucking color coded Legos.

Windows 10 is free.

Not "UPGRADE" free, but actually free unless you sincerely give a fuck about a transparent watermark in the corner of the screen.

>buying windows
>nothing wrong with buying a used CPU, a modestly used GPU, CPU fan, or monitor
>Who the fuck doesn't have a spare keyboard or mouse?

W7 is also "free", and better than 10, which is why MS is trying to push their botnet Wontworks tenner on people now.

I built a pc and regret it. I use my ps4 more often. My friends play on ps4 and it is much more convenient when playing with a tv and couch and other people.

The one exception is overwatch which is far superior on pc

I sold my PC to get a Switch. Did not regret it one bit.

>implying you can't play with other people on PC
>implying you didn't just go with the flow and succumb to peer pressure, and now you gotta justify your over expensive 900p @ 30fps toy

stupid phone posters should be hung.

Sup Forums is like groundhog day but except every day repeats the same shitty platform war shitposting threads and all the towns people argue over it.

>better than 10
uh no sweetie

um, honey, don't you know what a botnet is babydoll?

>never includes the cost of a Windows license
Solution: run Linux with Wine you pleb

I got that case. Its a nice simple case.
Mine's all black and silver though.
Put in a white led strip into the top and tucked all the cables into the back so its all neat and tidy.
With a black and silver motherboard it looks even better.

>Never includes the cost of a Windows license

Is that supposed to be a bad thing?

Only idiots buy windows, if you're a moralfag just use linux.

Sony uses a modified form of FreeBSD as well, by the way.

Haha muh botnet meme

Or I'll just buy a PS4 for 299 and settle for inferior results instead of turning my hobby into a science fair project.

Buy a used gaming PC from 2013.
Console killer achieved.

Looks like someone doesn't track their internet packets, honey ;)

It's this simple

>ps4 = $200
>5 years online = $300 (most people buy this)
>shit tier PC every 5 years = $300 (EVERYONE buys this)

vs

>pc which can beat the normal ps4 = $450 (almost anything can)
>pc which beats the pro = $750

(this obviously only applies in real life, not in v meme world where everyone browses the internet on their phones and never plays multiplayer)

>shit tier PC every 5 years
this is probably a laptop, which people are gonna buy even when they have a gaming PC.

>It's the same as saying "console costs never include a TV!"

Holy fuck the amount of times i read this idiotic statement. What the fuck do you plug your pc into then? Your dick hole? You need a damn monitor/tv for a pc as well dumbass.

Seriously look up all the color variants of it.
The white and red pictured in the OP tries too hard to be "gamer" and the black and red looks like someone took a silver and black one and forced it to wear lipstick against its will.

The silver and black case has an almost regal or alien look to it I quite like. Like its a monolith left behind to pass information onto man on its re-discovery.

a PS4 Slim costs 200 bucks, no PC can match it

$450 now Is worth more than 200$ now plus $300 over 5 years. Idiot

Extra $250 will get you a laptop which can beat the normal ps4. To beat the pro you'd probably just have to get a shitt laptop anyway. (although a lot of people buy laptops when they never mve around)

Sucks being held back because you can't cope with reality

>multiplayer
>extra cost per games
>very few free games

Honestly don't see how people ca waste so much money on them

>Not plugging your PC directly into your eyes

You sound like a poor brainlet with no concept of the value of money over time

>tfw unironically am in the top 1 percent of wealth for my age (self earned) and am graduating valedictorian in a few weeks
>tfw wasting time on this shithole
mixed feelings

>shit tier PC every 5 years = $300 (EVERYONE buys this)

More like
>high end macbook every 2 years = $4000

We're talking about normalfags here.

>>Never includes the cost of a Windows licenses
you can download windows for free from microsoft though. and you don't even have to activate it. the benefits of activating windows is a desktop screensave.

What if you're like me who's not poor and has a $2000 pc, ps4 and a switch

I think the point is, you obviously need to cut corners to make a computer cheaper than a console and run better. If you do it legitimately and also buy news parts, its just not going to happen. Consoles are cheap new and produces quality for the price. For a pc you need to spend at least $750 for that and lets not forget how long that gets you. Few years max. At least they extend console life as long as possible.

>It's the same as saying "console costs never include a TV!"
No, it's not. You also need a monitor for a PC.
You don't have to pay for the OS on a console.

I'm no console fanboy, but I do enjoy the low cost of entry.

PC is definitely better for people who are serious about the hobby.

How much money have you got spare and have you paid of your mortgage? (can't decide if I'm a poorfag or not)

>pc which beats the pro = $750
now you're just talking out of your asshole

I'm not going to say any way is right or wrong but really, If this is your hobby why wouldn't you want something better?
Yes, PC can cost more but its more for a reason.

Underage fag detected. Not the other guy but saying of your mortgage is paid or not does not classify you as wealthy or poor.

>tfw unironically am in the top 1 percent of wealth for my age
>lying on the internet

>They are either absolutely free, or around 20 bucks, tops
Lol u fuckin wot?
Windows isn't free. It's $100+ for a copy.
>$20
You're talking about OEM keys from scrapped PCs, which you're not supposed to be using as per the license.
That's like saying "Windows is free because you can just pirate it."

I have $50,000 spare (more than anyone I know). Obviously not a lot but its ok when I'm 18. Hopefully I'll have enough to flat out buy a flat by the time I finish college

I built a PC and all I do now is listen to eurobeat 24/7.

>Using Windows instead of Linux/WINE

>$50,000
>1%
nah nigga
I had upwards of that when I was 18 as well.
50 grand isn't shit in the real world, kid

A 570 is about £200 which is about the Pro's level, I'm not quite sure you could get much good for another £150 to match the pro at the same price point but its still far from $750.

my point was that you're just estimating out your ass.

This thread is pointless anyway

sage'd

Why are normalfags so obsessed with Macs anyway?

You might have enough for a down payment on a flat.
$50,000 is a decent chunk of change, but it's not a lot of money, especially when you're looking at property.
A flat is probably going to run you $200k to $500k depending on where you want to live.. and considering it's a flat I'm guessing somewhere urban or trendy ($$$$)

Don't lie user, a quick google search shows half of all adults don't even have $1000 for an emergency. It is fucking loads for people my age (unless you luck out with rich arents), don't know anyone with anywhere near as much.

also
>people my age, not overall

m8 just get an RX 480, G4260, whatever 1151 chipset, 2400mhz 8GB DDR4, a 1TB HDD and a bronze rated PSU, some cheap Antec case then consoles BTFO completely and utterly for around $518 exactly

And yes that CPU isn't gutless before some retard comes along and fancifully claims what's in a console is actually better because they aren't even fucking close

>these products marketed towards 2 completely different people don't even compare at this pricepoint!!!!

If you're buying a PC for gaming and gaming alone, you are a god damned idiot.

$100,000 hopefully (I am aware this will not be luxury living kek, also don't live in a major city)

>half of all adults don't even have $1000 for an emergency
This cannot be accurate. Surely people aren't this fucking retarded?
Dear God

pcpartpicker.com/list/x7Q4vV

Threw this together really quickly, I'm actually pretty surprised
This is about as good as the pro for about $160 less.

>Expecting burgerclaps to not be retarded

Something like half of all adults live paycheck to paycheck and would be homeless within a month if they lost their jobs without warning.

>"console owner"
>never includes the price of a tv
>never includes the price of a sub
>never includes the price of a headset
>never includes the price of doritos and monster energy drink™

Oops, Should have checked GameStop not amazon for the pro's price.
Its about $13 over, Still they are pretty comparable

When Scorpio comes out no PC in its price range will even come close.

Or do your homework and build a PC for games you want to play. A $500 PC can do 1080p on most games and can run anything for the next 5 years. Heck even a $400 build could probably do this.

Majority of households already have a tv because what else would you watch tv on. Still though you can plug your computer into a tv so that logic is moot. Quit with the whole tv meme.

Both ps4 and xbox1 i bought came with a controller and headset. The pc my family bought and i bought did not come with kbm.

Im a pc fan, but pc is way more pricey.

I don't own a house. But like the other user said having a mortgage doesnt make you poor or rich. You could be "poor" and have your mortage paid off because you've been living in that house for 40 years.

Also its not like I'm rich, I make about 65k annually. I'm just not poor.

Plus I'm not married or have kids which gives me way more money to play with.

Or just plug it into your tv.

>Or just plug it into your tv.
you would still need to buy a TV?

While I agree with the fact that most of those videos are absolute bullshit, there are a few that are useful.

You can build a pc at a console price point that can match or exceed console performance. I had to sell my gaming pc awhile ago because of money but I'm going to be building a new budget build so I can play some of my steam games

G4560
B250
1050ti
8GB ddr4 2400
400w psu
Cheap case

Will run me around $350 plus tax, it won't blow the socks off anyone but who cares I just want to play video games at 1080p anyway so

>1050ti

Gutless piece of shit
Everything else is fine

>not having a tv

>not buying a tv in 2017

What

The difference between the 1050ti and the rx570 are currently like $70

I'm not 100% decided but the performance increase for the 570 isn't worth 60% increase in price.

1050ti can play everything I want to play at 1080 and reasonable frame rates (60fps in overwatch, locked 30 in battlegrounds and horizon3, and will run the PS3 games I want to play at good frame Rates)

then your original point is fucking moot

>"Windows is free because you can just pirate it."
But this is true.

>console
>never mentions how you buy and sell all your games used

Windows 10 is free. Even if you don't take advantage of the cripple upgrade and pirated Windows 7, you can just install Windows 10 from any Windows 10 DVD/thumbdrive image you can get from the Microsoft website and it will work for gaming.

You have to pay nothing for this privilege. I have Windows 10 without a CD key installed on a virtual machine right now. It functions just fine for gaming.

Who the hell doesn't have a tv? And again google tv prices these days there insanely cheap in case you don't own a tv which is weird.

You get a small transparent "Please activate Windows 10" sign in the bottom right corner
Not really noticeable but it would drive my autism insane if I were to use the thing as my primary rig.
You could of course always just get Linux.

That statistic comes from a study which shows that over 50% don't have 1,000 USD in a Savings Account. Savings. I don't have 1K in my Savings, but I do have a little over 2K in Checking. By no means an excellent situation, my only point is that there are many people out there that while still don't have great situations, may just be keeping their spare month or two money in their Checkings instead of their Savings.

I don't have a TV. If you have an internet connection then you can see every series and movie for free without advertisements whenever you want so what's the point of having a TV?

I work with two people that don't own tvs.

One just uses an iPad Pro 12.9 for everything, the other uses his computer for 100% of the stuff his phone can't do.

I don't think I could ever go without one, I do wish I could have one bigger then 32" but I don't have room for much more then that.

I don't have that, at least if I do it's nearly invisible. The only thing I have noticed is that it doesn't let me do visual customization. Maybe that's because my VM is Windows 10 Pro - you can choose other versions of Windows when installing without CD key.

I have a machine with the N version of Enterprise (legal license) and that one shows a small white text in the corner that says the OS variant.

>used parts
>salvaged from a previous build
>found in a dumpster
>stolen from delivery trucks
>sucking dick at olive garden
>compared to the launch price of a new console unit

I wouldn't include the price of a chair or desk in the cost of a PC either, dumbfuck.

>Windows isn't free.
you can pirate it.
>It's $100+ for a copy.
or 15 bucks for a CD key off online stores.

at least try to be convincing bait.

Students and children (which not baiting will make up at least half the console buyers)

"Muh hipster culture!", "muh aestetics!", "muh 1984 revolution!", "they just work and don't have viruses!"

Why do people never factor in that you no longer need a laptop/other computer if you build a gaming PC?

That's a $600-$800 dollar saving right there.

That all depends on the person... that definitely doesn't apply to everyone.

Some people need a portable computer, and need more then an iPad.

Since I bought a iPad Pro 12.9" I never use my macbook anymore, if I need a computer I use my gaming pc but that won't fly with everyone.

And yet you can still get $500 console killers with all of that included

Console killer is a meme. If you're going to build a pc, save up some more money. $500 is going to give you shit parts. Don't know how many times I've seen people recommend a shitty psu to save money.

A gaming PC needs an internet connection these days but a PC for sensitive data or pizza should never be connected to the internet for safety reasons. So you will need at least two PCs if one is a gaming PC.

>People buy used consoles, peripherals and games, all the time too.

>$500 console killer
>used parts, no windows or controller/k+m
>used PS4/Xbone is like $150 with game

Agreed OP. I wish PC owners would just be blunt and say PC gaming isn't for poor people.

PC all the way, but this idea of cheap "console killers" is seriously detrimental to PC gaming. It's an outright lie. You can't build a worthwhile PC under $1000, and that's the way it should be. When you ruse people into putting together a shit rig, they just get angry, because it costs them more than they expected, and they don't see much of a performance difference. It sours newcomers to the whole thing.

>$500 console killer
why make 500 one, when you can do console killers with less than 200 at best?
>used parts
yet used consoles and games are fine?
>no Windows
download one.
>or controller
KB&M are your controller. And they can too be found for cheaper than one McMeal.
>used PS4 is like 150 with a game
I wish. And "a game"? You seriously think that a random shovelware crap from that thing's pathetic library would make someone happy?

Meanwhile, PC games are literally 5-20 bucks, brand new, and there's hundreds of all free games to download, legally even, from the get go.

PC gaming is THE exact thing for poorfags, mate. Everything is cheaper, and there's no monthly bullshit fees just to play online.

The enthusiastic-level 4K @ 144hz & Ultra settings crap is not what huge majority of PC gamers do or even want. Your local recycling centers literally carry machines from the turn of the decade for like 100-200 bucks, that are more than enough to run all pre-2010s games nicely at 1080p, and more modern titles with slightly dropped settings. You can then slap in a bit newer GPU and enjoy smooth gaming even with latest games.

>Used i7-3770K = $80
>Hyper 212 EVO = $20
>Used mainboard = $40
>8GB RAM = $40
>500 GB SSD = $120
>Case = $20
>PSU = $50
>RX 580 8 GB $230

That's $600 total for an absolute high end PC.

>You can't build a worthwhile PC under $1000, and that's the way it should be.
Now this, my friends, is so called "Not a true Scotsman" fallacy. An imposter masquerading as his opposition's member, making crazy claims in order to undermine his enemy faction's statements.

Now, I did build a 1000€ PC almost a decade ago, and I've been happy with it. However, for long have people been able to build and even BUY machines way stronger than mine, for way less than what I paid.

Just months ago, I presented my family members an used "wormbox" I got for dirt cheap, and it could ran everything from MGS5 to GTA5 at 1080p / 60fps.

>8GB RAM = $40
you could get 16GB for that price nowadays.

>Science Fair Project
Dude, you put the parts in their right slots. Wow what an amazingly hard time.
Oh no! I had to unscrew a screw!

This is completely retarded. Maybe for laptops, but not for desktops even gaming desktops.

If you don't game you can easily build a good machine for cheap. Even with gaming you don't need to spend $1000+

A $450 pc with a 4560&570/1060 3gb will be plenty for 1080p. You don't have to have everything completely maxed at 4k and 144fps.

The good parts of pc gaming is that you can customize things to fit your needs whether that's maxed at 4k, or low at 1080p

Nice pc "games"

PC gaming is definitely for poor people. What isn't for poor people is enthusiast grade PC gaming. Which is where you're actually getting a gaming experience that is so much better than any console that going back to a console would be torture.

Every single time with these threads people keep forgetting PC's are upgradable, if you bought one to be a "ps3 killer" with a few hundred dollars you can turn it into a ps4 killer while keeping all your data, games and files.
