It's just FGC try hards that complain.
Tekken 4 is actually my favorite.
Tekken 4 is my favorite as well. All the cutscenes and the storyline made it an amazing playthrough. Remember that part where suddenly some soldiers from the korean military attack Hwoarang in some sort of basement?
Or Kuma's ending?
Hard to choose between Tekken 3 or Tekken 4.
>Characters know many languages and use them depending on the situation
Really loved that.
>new tekken game comes out.
>hey this one is going to be great.
>its shit
>new tekken game comes out.
>hey this one is going to be great.
>its shit
>new tekken game comes out.
>hey this one is going to be great.
>its shit
TTT2 And T6 were great.
Yeah, it gave it a feeling of authenticity to the King of Iron Fist Tournament being this huge event that draws the best fighters of the whole world.
I like most tekken games, but as to single player modes I think they should go back to what Tekken 3 and 4 had to offer. And I'd like to see some online co-op modes too like in Tekken 6 (but without the lag please).
Also, bring Gon back!
youtube.com
>T6
Is this bait?
T5 was great
Yeah Tekken hasnt really changed since 5.
Only reason to grab 7 is because its finally on PC, really.
Like what else would it be? New comers have been all fucking shit after 5. Mechanically its mostly the same only that now you get shitty supers you can mash out.
>grew up with Tekken
>Tekken 4 comes out
>it's universally considered shit
>fast forward 15 years
>Tekken 4 is hailed as an achievement because it was the first one for so many
>>Tekken 4 comes out
>>it's universally considered shit beacuse is not the third Tekken 3
Tekken 4 was not my first but my favorite, as it is for many people. Don't bother with review magazines or websites.
Tekken series sales have been declining since Tekken 3 and 4.
People are most likely sick of the most stagnant fighting game series created.
they were right to drop most of the new shit in tekken 4 that game was a disaster
virtua fighter 3 though, that game is actually really good. i think people just assume that tekken 4 was bad and vf3 has a lot of the same ideas so that game must be bad too
am2 deserves a lot of shit for letting vf get so stagnant with vf5
Wasn't Jin busted in this game?
I thought that Tekken 3 was the first of everyone
T4 is not my favorite, but I do think that the devs didn't need to backpedal with 5 as hard as they did. The majority of 4's problems were balance based. Remove the infinites, nerf Jin, and fixing the wall-related physics would've solved most of the issues about it I think. I know not everyone likes situation combos dependant on ground level or stage interactibles but I'm not sure that they were an inherantly bad thing to be honest.
I do miss the old shorter length higher damage combos that the series had too. Same goes for VF too actually, VF4E did a ton of things better than VF5 in my opinion (the vanilla version anyway, never tried the update it got)
Tekken4 was not very good. I appreciated them trying to innovate the fanchise, but it didn't go well.
Tekken5/5DR sold far more than 4.
Tekken 7 is going the be THE SHIT
Tekken 2 was "the first for many"
Tekken 4 was fucking cool and was a great set up for Tekken 5. Arguably the best game mechanically was Tekken 5:DRO on the PS3.
The only people who post "but i wanna play Tekken 3" and unironically think its the only good one are shitters whos first ever PS1 game was Tekken 3. And i started with Tekken 2.
Tekken 4 was a bit broken yes, but it was the begining of the right direction.
Fuck off faggot, T5:DRO was fucking great.
Uh? Because you enjoy the series user? Thats a good reason.
sorry m8 I can enjoy previous entries that play exactly like this with a bigger cast as well.
Fuck Tekken
New Soulcalibur when.
Tekken 4's greatest sin is its lack of style, not the changes to gameplay. Like, going from 3 to 4 is probably the most jarring transition in the series, I don't even have a word for how 4 looks and sounds. It's so boring and deflated.
Tekken 4 is widely derided for being a broken game with 90% Jin within the community
Its dead user. You've got to move on.
Am i the only one who really did not care about Tekken 3 at all? It feels like the odd one out to me stylistically. Tekken 2 was GOAT and then i didn't really feel 3. Maybe the lack of Kazuya, Jin just wasn't the same. The whole game felt "THE NEW GENERATION" to me because well, it was.
>Tekken 4
>lack of style
Pick only one
The style of T4 is FANTASTIC
Fuck that.
2 > 3
>Same goes for VF too actually, VF4E did a ton of things better than VF5 in my opinion (the vanilla version anyway, never tried the update it got)
the longer combos in vf5 (especially in final showdown) are so fucking stupid looking
a lot of the changes they made with final showdown actually backfired and made the game LESS approachable
Ok.
Never ever
Fucking no. Just no. Sorry if you started with 3 and think thats what tekken is, but id argue 3 was the LEAST Tekken like of the early games.
Tekken 4's atmosphere is GOD tier and its darker atmosplhere was one of the reasons people are hype for 7.
This.
They don't want it to compete with Tekken again like with TTT2, and SCV.
Maybe depending on how quickly Pokken Switch, and TxSF get released there may be hope for a new actual SC before they want to make a new Tekken
Most of the new additions were only cool in concept and balance was really bad, it's okay to change things but a good iteration of something familiar will always beat poorly implemented innovation on the long run any day, specially in a game that makes a huge part of it's income thanks to the competitive scene.
>TxSF
Never ever, i swear. Doesn't matter what Harada says, i can feel it. I would DIE for a fully 3D realistic tekken style of Sakura and Makoto.
>Sakura and Makoto
What makes you think they will get in?
Fuck you.
Isn't testing SF characters in Tekken gameplay why that piece of shit Akuma is in
>piece of shit Akuma is in
WEW. Which vagrant mountain woods hermit with mystical Ki energy Masetsu'd your Sensei this morning?
If Urien's not in TxSF I don't even care about to be honest. Not hating on SF in general but he's the only character I'd like to see done in a 3D style. Dhalsim could be interesting too I guess.
Tekken 4 and VF3 are both garbage though so those sentiments are correct. I tried to like both games but they're just awful.
He's also there to crush Eddy scrubs since Eddy can't sidewalk properly
I will defend T4 with my life.It was the best Tekken next to T3/TTT.
No retarded juggles.
Spacing and exchanging hits were everything.
Smooth as fuck soundtrack.
T4 was nice casually but it was garbage for FGC approach because if you were not using Jin, you were guaranteed to loose.
>they were right to drop most of the new shit in tekken 4 that game was a disaster
>virtua fighter 3 though, that game is actually really good.
this
I still play VF3 quite regularly
Different-leveled areas works for VF's control scheme, but it just makes it clumsy/pointless in Tekken
but that starts in 5? everyone spoke English in 4 iirc
i think the big difference t4 = shitty movement, vf3 = really fun movement
Tekken for some reason went from one extreme to another after T4.
From T5 onward Tekken was GG tier with single juggle taking 50% or more of hp.
TTT is still my favourite tekken
>No retarded juggles
Until you got to the wall and knew how to abuse the wonky physics this game had.
I agree with what some others have said about it just needing a few things here and then adjusted instead of entirely scrapping what it was going for though.
yeah pretty much
dunno if the user who posted this last night is itt but good shout
very interesting stuff
youtube.com
Tekken 4 was a fucking mess.
There was nothing wrong with VF3.
VF3 has the backdash cancelling stuff that you guys complain about in Tekken though.
At least VF3 was the last one to have a nice soundtrack.
Later VF games had more generic rock soundtrack sadly.
Huh, just going to post this link here:
youtube.com
Tekken 4 had a god-tier soundtrack
I keep wondering how long Capcom can just keep using the GOAT tier recordings of Masanori Shinohara from Tekken 4 for Kazuya? Every now and again they hire him for a few sentances of dialouge, Tekken 7 must be the most he will ever actually say in one game since.
>CHE!!
>CHUMUN!!
>DORYAHH!!
New Virtual Fighter when I need a 3d fighter that isn't shit.
The problem with T4 were the wall infinites.
What does Tekken 7 even add to the gameplay it just looks like another reskin.
Wait for a new Soul Calibur then. VF4 > SCV >>> VF5. Going by the PSP mod of T7 I'd rank it above VF5 too, that game was trash.
super moves.
slow motion when moves clash during active frames while players are low on life.
and a powered up move that juggles.
i think that's it, from someone who follows the game a bit.
im torn on it because vf3 movement was fun but vf4 style evades just fucking work and anyone can grasp that system in like 5 seconds its so intuitive
i think a big part of vf's appeal is that something either works or it doesn't there's very little 'maybe' and vf3 added a lot of 'maybe'
Transcending history, a tale of souls and swords, never ever retold...
:(
4 was my fav too.
Jin speaks Japanese when around his family.
He speaks English during Hwoarang's ending because Jin can't speak in Korean and Hwoarang can't in Japanese.
>RUT. DEW EWE WAN?
>DER ES. NO RESUN FO US TU FIGH.
Leader of the Mishim Zaibatsu and great grandson sp one of the most notable Japanese families in modern societey everone.
I never got to fight you at the tournament
They hired him for PxZ2. I'm more amazed that Kazuya is the only character he voices and he was a perfect fit for him.
Bound got replaced by Tailspin. What this does is keep the juggle length similar, but reduce wall bullshit since Tailspin doesn't work on the wall.
We have armor moves now. Some are great(King, Hwo), while others are shit(Kaz, Jin).
Rage can now be exchanged for Rage Arts(Supers) and Rage Drives(EX Moves), but it increases your damage if you have it on so there's some degree of complexity to it.
Generic throws can now be broken by either punch button. This means that special throws are not only more valuable, but also helped propel King to the top tiers.
I enjoyed Tekken 4.
It is a more slow paced Tekken, that required more strategy. The elaborated fighting arenas made positioning even more important than any other Tekken.
I think that people were just tired back in the Tekken 4 era. Tired of Tekken, and tekken 4 didn't offer much regarding extras.
No tekken ball, or a big character roster. It had tekken force and that was it.
Not even online fighting
Tekken 3 > 4
> 2
> no Gordo
Into the trash
>I'm more amazed that Kazuya is the only character he voices and he was a perfect fit for him.
Damn fucking right. It's masculine as all fuck. Id love to know what a native Japanese speaker thinks of his voice.
Guys, GUYS!
Stop fighting. Can we all agree that Virtua Fighter 5 is the best 3d fighting game, and the second best fighting game, surpassed only by third strike?
>mfw that Airport theme
>Capcom
its not even the best virtua fighter game...
Whoops how the FUCK did i say that!
YOI DUN HAVE WAN? WELL I DO!
>Guitar riff
>next time they meet they just speak their native languages and everyone knows whats going on
>SORRY FAGGOT I GOT FAMILY PROBLEMS NOW OK? HOLY SHIT
>H-HUH?! YOU LIKE SOMEONE ELSES ASS MORE NOW IS THAT IT??!
>NO, NOTHING LIKE THAT.
And people unironically ask why Jin wont fuck Ling.
I don't know why people were butthurt about VF3.
I mean, shit, it's ACTUALLY 3D now. You can move around a foe for the first time in the series.
Hell, I'd rather the control scheme from 3 be retained for 4 and 5. I liked the idea of having a dedicated dodge button as opposed to putting dodge on up or down.
