Honestly, I don't think we'll ever get it out of a DMC game. To get back to that point we'd have to give up on ol' Uncle Dante.Because of the massive success that DMC3 was we will have our fun loving over the top CUHRAYZEE Dante, which means the games have to take place in a CUHRAYZEE world. Honestly I wouldn't mind having a more runny and gunny spinoff staring a Tony Redgrave type character who fights demons that is a bit more down to earth than DMC. But there's a chance we'd be left with a soulless noncharacter like DMC2's Dante if that were the case.

Probably never. I feel like the creepy/gothic atmosphere of DMC1 came from the fact that it was meant to be a Resident Evil game but ultimately they decided to make it its own thing.

As long as it's the same Dante from 3 and 4, I don't care.

Bloodborne definitely carries some of the spirit of DMC1.

I've been wanting to play it for a while but I'm too poor for a ps4 right now. Oh well, I'll get to it eventually, even if it's 20 years from now on an emulator.

All the way back in 2012 Capcom said it wanted to reduce the development time on subsequent titles in DMC series to 2.5 years. At the end, the article
speculates that according to this objective the next one would be released in the summer of 2015. That's exactly what happened. Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition was released in June 2015. So... when we add to this analysis the facts that:-

I really liked the town of Fortuna, I wish there were move levels in it instead of the outskirts.
DMC3's apocalyptic looking city also looked interesting but sadly most of the game takes place in the tower.
These games have some neat settings but sadly outside of DMC1 they don't really do much with them.

It feels like they quickly slapped the SE and DE editions together just to hold on to this promise since they did not know what to do since the vanilla version of DmC flopped(the console version never reached over 1m sales with PS3 and 360 combined.)
