I see so many people praise this series, but it looks like generic JRPG.

Are the story and characters genuinely good or is it just generic JRPG shit? I also see people praise the games for having a shit ton of dialogues and and longer scripts than the bible and stuff like that, but if it's just diluting the soup with useless events that just drag on then I would hate it.

How do you change the difficulty? I can't find it in the options

"generic" is not a fair criticism. It looks generic to you because the series is a shining example of what a generic JRPG should be.

As for the dialogue, we don't praise it just because it's long. We praise it because it is well written and reveals a lot about the nature of the individual characters. The games aren't for everyone, and just because they may not interest you doesn't mean they're bad

How long are games on average and how much padding is there? The thing I hate the most is games being long and full of dialogue just for the sake of being long rather than because they need it and the people masturbating over the length of the script is what scares me.

50-80 hours, very little padding. Most of the dialogue stats come from the fact every single NPC in the game has their own personality and story that unfurls as the series progresses and updates with every story event. All of that dialogue is optional.

You know i don't think Osborne is as 1 dementional a villan as CS makes him out to be. I just got up the door with him featured in 3rd. He seams to justfy what he does in the name of breaking Erebona out of the old ways and bringing in the new. Yes he is a shady motherfucker with the annexing and all that but he has just said "i will use anything to acheve reform." in regards of his ties to Oroborus.

Sen III odds are way more in XSEED's favor now that we're getting PC ports of Cold Steel I & II (which should do well and XSEED some bank). We need to see how well NISA's localizaton and sales fare before coming to conclusions about who will localize future Ys games.

I wonder if they'll ever make Lechter justify his actions and personality at some point. He comes across as a mortal Campanella in some ways, but I'd prefer if Campanella remained the one character designed to fuck with everyone (even the 4th wall).

I didn't like Kevin at all when they first introduced him in SC (mostly because of his stupid fucking haircut) but by the end of it I grew to like him and now I'm glad he got his own game

For some reason I didn't get a cutscene until I entered the left building and then exited it via the lower door. Exiting it via the door that leads out to the walkway doesn't work.

On the bright side, Falcom actually pushing aggressively themselves to get their games out in the west is a good thing.
