What makes P5's cast stand out compared to 3's & 4's, Sup Forums? Serious question.
What makes P5's cast stand out compared to 3's & 4's, Sup Forums? Serious question
the fact that most aside from yusuke and [insert waifu here] are shit
Larger playerbase, so more people are familiar with them.
Literally nothing more than the fact that it sold more and they are newer.
Still better than P4's garbage cast.
Not being totally static until the last few months of the game, unlike 3's.
They learn from mistakes
4's cast was just bad, Kanji was the only memorable character.
>P4 is bad meme
nothing
fucking moralfags
All persona casts look like generic weeb garbage.
They can't stand the Soul Hackers and Raidou Kuzunoha casts.
>implying DDS and P2 IS cast isn't the best
A cast with only 3 members who do anything outside their arc?
A cast who needed the MC in the velvet room to give 3 word liners to convince them to fight god?
If you think this cast wasn't just as shit as 4 pls kys
Heho
Nothing, they are pretty shit but I'm not allowed to say that or I'll trigger waifufags
P5 events and characters interaction are worst than 3 and 4.
I'm almost 10 hours in and mana is way more scarce than SMT 2, Nocturne, SJ, IV OR IVA.
Am I doing something wrong?
Nah, first palace is like that. It'll get manageable later.
they don't. besides Futaba, every other party member is plucked from either 3 or 4 with a small tweak here or there. What makes them worse is that in 3 and 4, every character at least got some interaction either through story events or side events. In 5, neither of these happens, which leads to characters with interesting set-ups like Yusuke to be side-lined for exposition dump Makoto or a bitching Morgana. Overall it's not a weak cast, but it is easily the weakest usage of them and I find that the worst part. Hope crimson fixs it but Im doubtful
It's the newest, that's why they stand out.
persona 3's team feels like soldiers to me. like they aren't as wanting to be with each other 24/7, but if you go up to them they are like lets chill, and are their for each other in combat but not as like in persona 4 where it's "no chie!! my best friend!! i'll help you!!". persona 5 feels like a mix between them.
I don't think so. I much preferred P3's cast to P4's before, during, and after my playthrough of 4.
Yeah, that's a bit of a problem. While Ann and Ryuji had a dynamic going at the start, character interactions that didn't involve Joker really diminished as party got bigger.
Individually they can stand on their own two feet without sucking the MC's cock
P5 cast don't even chill with each other besides Ann and Ryuji
persona 3 is for the alpha males. persona 4 is for friendless losers like me.
They have the whole thief thing going on, which is the coolest cast motif in the series.
Only person I disliked was Ryuji. Everyone else in P5 is golden.
They're more likeable.
The fact that the best girl is in P5.
Emperors are always the best members of the cast
prove me wrong
>Akihiko
>Kanji
>Yusuke
They prove that you don't need autistic SoL events to have a cast of likeable characters with a dynamic. Persona 4 cast is overrated.
Too bad the "Thieving" stopped being relevant after the 2nd dungeon
To be fair, every palace after Kaneshiro were all set up to bring about the Thieves' eventual demise.
their aesthetics were slick as fuck
>characters with a dynamic.
Hi, I'm Ann and my character is all over the place and I stop being relevant after Makoto is introduced and just there
Hi, I'm Yusuke and I have 0 story relevance after i design the new calling card
Hi I'm Haru, why Am I even there?
Hi I'm Makoto, I'm here to be the main character's mouthpiece until Futaba replaces me as the groups management
Hi, I'm Ryuji and my character development is some self realization after 90 hours that barely affect my character.
Kek get real P4 and P5 had dogshit casts
I love Haru
>P4 is good meme
>all physical/buff skill mains with zio on the side
What did Atlus mean by this?
Surely they could have mixed it up a bit.
Why isn't the best boy in the photo?
Yeah sure whatever, the cast stop planning on how they were gonna steal treasures and just go straight for fights. Some "thieves"
I think what stands out most for me is that there are good reasons to swap around members for dungeons. You have more damage types now (in 3 and 4 you could go full 4 elements and that would have covered all bases well, dark and light were just shit and not worth the risk). Physical attacks also feel more powerful now and are actually worth using. All party members stay close to eachother in lvls (can't remember how it was in 3/4) which makes swapping usable as well.
Plus, god damn yusuke is really funny.
After Madarame they realize that they'll have to kick the shadow's ass anyway so they just don't bother stealthily stealing treasures anymore. They still have to sneak into the palaces and secure a route to it.
Yeah, and P4 is so good half of the cast never talks to each other. And best freinds Yukiko and Chie don't talk with each other after the first arc.
>Yusuke
>Zio
Real thieves still shit. They don't prioritise killing/beating faggots all the time time to get shit.
In Shido's palace your legit just walking around anyways
Sojiro ? He was taking the picture obviously.
They only talk about the Phantom Thieves. That surely makes them special.
Just like how "best friends" Ryuji and Ann never talk to each other, eh? Fuck off nufag.
Half of thr P4 cast never talks with each other.
In P5 at least you hang out with other members during some confidants and can meet them when inviting them to other places. + Dialog in mementos.
They are merely acquaintances. If you played the game you'd know Ryuji said that they only knew each other in middle school P4fag.
Most characters are Likable (unlike persona 3's whiny cast) and not generic (like persona 4's cast) and aren't flandarized yet (unlike both casts after the spin offs)
didnt say it was a bad game, faggot
>nome were generic
Lmfao what the fuck was Ryuji? He was 100% dumb bro staple.
Except they don't stand out at all?
The only semi-likable person is Yusuke, and that's because of his autism. Everyone else is either obnoxious or irrelevant.
Regardless. It is a shit game
Lel
They do.
And during Ann's social link you go to the gym with Ryuji.
And during Yusuke's social link both Ann and Ryuji come to help him.
Nufag.
Thank goodness Phantom Thieves are operating in the Metaverse and not irl. Of course their MOs would differ from real thieves who aren't up against shadows.
If P5 spin off happens do you think Atlus can flanderize the cast further?
>5 second confidant scenes = a good cast dynamic
Yosuke and Teddie aren't part of it
>not generic (like persona 4's cast)
>Ryuji
>Ann
>Makoto
>Haru
None of them have any depth and are cookie cutter as fuck.
>1 dimensional anime cast is likable and not generic
It's not 5 seconds. It's one rank. And it's still better than nothing in P4.
they manage to be more autistic than the other games
They don't do anything like real thieves would and their focus is beating bosses and the items are merely rewards for beating a boss.
Sneaking in the metaverse is garbage since the enemy AI are literally fucking blind even if you're in cover and they're next to you they'll act blind. Dungeons aren't designed in a way you can break in and break out quickly since there is no short cuts or back entrances when you clear one which kills the thief immersion as you gotta use safe room teleports and you just walk out normally. Literally every target after Kaneshiro was someone they were forced to deal with and not
>hey let's go for this guy!
And all resulted in
>we need to go for him/her or we're fucked
Maybe besides haru's one which again they pressured to anyways.
This was the most half assed attempt at trying to use thieves as the main theme of the game
yeah they were just static the entire game
uh, they don't?
The single key thing was the fact I could swap out members on the fly and backup members got EXP. Which meant I could use them all in battle. Which meant I didn't grow to detest the benchwarmers like I did in 3 and 4.
While Marie was total garbage overall, at least Atlus made improvements of the group dynamic through her social link. And P4 had way more group time than P5.
How do I make good coffee like Sojiro? Do I have to buy beakers and shit? And I guess I'd actually have to grind down coffee beans and everything
They're fun.
I feel like Makoto and Haru are the major issues in P5's cast. They don't really have any meaningful dynamic with the rest of the group (partly because they don't fit the same outcast of society theme as everyone else), so they're just kind of there. It's worse with Makoto because so much is devoted to her and her lack of a relationship with anyone but Sae.
If you don't have a full-time job, the easiest way would be to get a part-time job in a café.
No shortcuts? What? The thing I liked least about going back in for the treasure after sending a calling card was that safe room fast travel invalidated the COPIOUS amounts of shortcuts you open up. You spend all your time in every palace taking long ways around or going out of your way to open up locked doors but once you've done it, you have a safe room so it doesn't matter.
At least complain sensibly. There are fucking tons of shortcuts. They should have made it so that sending the calling card disables the safe rooms so you have to actually rush the treasure down through the path you cleared. You get a checkpoint once you trigger the palace boss anyways.
>contrarian meme
Cast is the only debatable aspect. In every other area, P5 absolutely destroys its predecessors.
Why were all treasures actual real life shit that the palace ruler valued except Kaneshiro? I mean his treasure was a gaudy suitcase full of fake cash with his shadow's face on it.
Because Kaneshiro knew he was just a loser deep down and what mattered to him wasn't the money, but keep up appearances.
Nothing, I actually like them less than those of the previous games
Yusuke is okay
Because all of them have memorable attributes
over half of P3/4 draws a blank
>Goro dead last
I don't hate any of them
In P3 Junpei and Yukari are terrible
In P4 Yukiko and Teddie are boring as fuck
I think the only character I really don't care about in P5 is Haru, and mostly because she joins wait too late
>Iwai that low
Name one palace that had one shortcut near the treasure room that lead you straight to an exit or another exit, you're proposing i back track through all those areas again with minor shorcuts that still make it a slog to go through like that space shit museum
Pyramid probably only one that did that but then that whole dungeon you was asked to come in anyways
>I assisted Shido in his rise to power and killed dozens of people via metaverse
>because of daddy issues
I wouldn't even be this bothered if there was a buildup to this shit. But no, it's dropped on you suddenly as you walk around doing something else entirely.
More mature for the most part.
Ryuji is the exception.
Yusuke, Ann, and Ryuji are basically another rehash of Jun, Lisa, and Eikichi.
Sae is genderbent Katsuya
>Ann mentions she feels like she's known the group for a long time
This was a deliberate callback, wasn't it?
The plot was lackluster as fuck compared to 2 and 3.
The rerelease has some work to do. I feel nothing with these characters even though I felt something with 4 and 3's on the first playthrough.
I hate this game
I wouldn't be surprised if it was. For them to constantly say that they ignore the previous games out of respect they sure don't seem to have a problem referencing previous games or ripping them off.
As individual characters I liked them more than other Persona games.
But as a group? They didn't really standout. For me it's
P4 > P3 > P5
>A cast who needed the MC in the velvet room to give 3 word liners to convince them to fight god?
This actually pissed me off the most. In P3 each member goes off by themselves and comes to their own resolution about fighting Nyx and the end of the world. You even have scenes of them talking to each other and helping each other through it. The MC plays a minimal involvement and only acts as the leader to keep them all together.
You could've had something great like this showcasing the development of everyone, but nooooo. Let's have Joker-sama grant salvation to everyone instead!
The game released yesterday and not years ago.
P4 was too popular. The writers are starting to think that Stu characters are good material.
Did you miss the scene where Joker goes to each of their cells individually and talks to them and then swear to my bones starts playing
that was arguably one of the highest points in the game
P5 cast is more realistic, P3 the cast didn't get a lot of time so they don't develop enough apart from their persona evolving.
Persona 4 cast are all too in love with the MC to develop.
They're not good material, but they're self-inserts for the audience who likes nu-persona.
I'm just sad that we'll never go back to a cast like P3's that don't have their entire lives revolve around one person.
That was necessary in P3 because they stupidly didn't let MC form links with the male party members and he was barely a friend to most of the cast anyway.
