Is Dark Souls 2 that terrible of a game? No. Is it this unsung masterpiece this cuck makes it out to be? No.

Tried watching his bloodborne video because I like bloodborne.
Closed it after 20 minutes in because he was too smug and fundamentally unlikable as a person.
>le "le" meme
I like DS2 and would happily defend it, but that video was absolute garbage
He's only right about shields and lock-on. The rest is total insanity, like he suffered severe brain damage half way through making the video or something.
>DaS is linear because the separate branching paths are all linear
>life gems are good because [confused babbling]
>stories not making sense is good because I say so
Watch Matts Dragon rider fight footage and tell me the way he was playing was correct.
He's a faggot cuck who doesn't know what he's talking about.
>Its not a bad game
>its the only souls game in the entire franchise that has a defense force
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
How the fuck the team behind DaS 2 missed the mark so badly? It's like they had no idea what makes these games good.
I couldnt even understand what he was trying to say in his BB video.
Miyazaki wasn't involved. Literally only one he wasn't. And they got the completely wrong idea about how the game should be - they went all in on 'it's about dying a lot' and not 'it's about learning from your mistakes'
is there really a "correct" way to play Souls games?
And yet it's still better than ds3
Miyazaki was involved with the start until he went off to make BB and the half of the game that was done was completely scrapped.
There must be a lot of internal disagreement about DS2, or the japanese audience hated it. I mean, like 80% of DS2's mechanics were completely scrapped in later entries, eventhe good ones.
>mercilessly insults Fallout 3 and its fanbase
>uses literally the same headcanon-based argumentation they use to defend Toddout, but for DS2 (ex. the parts about the ending and world design)
Really nods the nodes.
no he gave a reason.
He believes ambiguity makes lore more deep than it actually is than if we knew everything and therefore more open to interpretation i:e more intriguing. It's shit don't worry.
So, uh who made this video?
You're right, it's a lot more memorable than 3.
More memorable because no one can forget how bad it is.
what is objectively worse?
>thinking DaS2 was good
>thinking DaS games should have an easy setting for casuals
"correct way" argument is bullshit when people like Lobos and DSP exist.
>even the good ones
Were there any? I almost think there's something the game did right but always get fuzzy.
Bob "Moviebob" Chipman.
guy who thinks his autism means he has an authoritarian aura about and can ramblem endlessly about dumb shit. *COUGHMRENTERCOUGH*
Shit, I somehow read as "Who is a bigger cuck than this guy?"
It's so fucking weird how he mentions Tipper, Lieberman, and Thompson, and then says we should be ashamed of how we treat Sarkeesian, who is just their next generation.
Watch who?
That only worked for DS1 because all the necessary pieces were filled by an intro and steady introduction of concepts. It was the gameplay and tone first and the story second, always.
DS2, in my opinion, didnt have a story until the dlcs. It barely had lore until the dlcs. And that story and lore in the dlcs is not ambiguous or unclear at all and it's much better than anything in the base game.
And somehow I responded to when I was trying to respond to
>never talks about ADP
really makes you think....
The "correct" way to play against that boss is shit, just like everything else in the game.
No it's not.
While not great, 3 is at least good, 2 is and will always be shit.
He was wrong, because he supported humanoid bosses by citing Godhand's Azel and DMC's Vergil when both games use that kind of boss fight sparingly.
That part of the game is so fucked. Before you understand it you see yourself taking phantom hits and getting teleported into boss attacks for seemingly no reason, and then you learn why it happens and it looks even shittier.
at least From saw the light and removed it from future games
>nothing makes sense and that's okay
>nothing is explained and that's okay
>nothing is cohesive as a game world and that's okay
This coming from someone who has a video called "Fallout 3 is Garbage (and Here's Why)" is some rich fucking irony.
Dragon Rider is a shit boss so that makes sense.
Respeccing, i-frames on backstep, twinblades and dual stancing, an expanded magic system, bleed and poison actually being useful, poise not being broken, better pvp connectivity and options. No stat is truly useless. The weapon upgrade system is easier to build for, and harder difficulties are easier to incorporate for challenge runs. Also new game + has a purpose.
Bad shit like the sloth parries and backstabs and the soul memory system dont return, but I think its foolish to say DS2 had no good ideas.
>but I think its foolish to say DS2 had no good ideas
but then why did nearly none of them (outside of re-speccing and poison being useful) not return for DaS3?
i love dark souls 2 and i think this video is probably one of the worst video game related videos i've ever watched
the parts towards the end where he implies that dark souls 2 is some mgs2esque meta commentary on video game sequels is one of the most pseud things i've ever heard, genuinely embarrassed for this boy
he's hyper selective in what he talks about, for instance he praises life gems because it gets rid of the attrition aspect of exploring (i.e. if you run out of estus you can't really explore anymore), completely neglecting the weapon durability changes that will kick in well before you've ran out of estus
This will never not be funny.
It did have one though. Try reading a book sometime maybe you'll be able to actually understand it.
this.
as someone who has put considerable hours into it:
fuck dark souls 2
Agreed. It's practically a mandatory stat. I'd be fine if they made it a stat that makes your rolls better but having the rolls and i-frames be so shit that the game doesn't function properly without putting into it is full blown retardation.
oswald is more memorable than any DS2 character
remember the lady turning gears or the generic dwarf who sold ladders
>the parts towards the end where he implies that dark souls 2 is some mgs2esque meta commentary on video game sequels
that alone discredits his video
...
Someone give me Dark Souls 2 so I can make Goblin Slayer.
because miyazaki listened to the fans or has a similar distaste for DS2. After BB people wanted the "true" sequel to DS1 in every way.
good ideas do not inherently slap you on the head and say, "Hey retard, keep me in."
For example the removal of i-frames on the backstep renders it all but useless. And the limit on respeccing in 3 is absolutely ballsout retarded. Because in 3 the new game + is inherently the same game but more damage (sometimes to the point that BB-style one shots happen)
Miyazaki burned it all down, but there were a few good boards in that house.
I like how early it comes up too. The Pursuer has one of the attacks that does it. And said attack also Curses, which at least doesn't work how it did in 1.
explain it to me in then.
I can do the same with DS1, BB, DeS, and DS3. DS2 vanilla was just an excuse for you to go kill things. There was nothing deeper there until Scholar of the First Sin gave us Aldia, the dlc kings, and fix on the lore we find. Now this version of DS2 has a story, and its a good one.
Yes. Because he needs to be constantly facing the enemy in order to know when to roll and attack.
This also allows him to keep his thumb on the roll button instead of the camera control.
the part where he says the game is good because it got a high metacritic critic score and game reviewers know better than anyone else was pretty disqualifying too, that part basically confirmed to me that he made the video to piss people off
>Try reading a book and maybe you'll be able to actually understand it.
Lack of ability to do that is why Miyazaki made the story fragmented. He'd read a book and only understand half of it and then fill the gaps himself.
He wanted everyone to have to feel that.
does anyone have a link to the something awful thread he posts something about an anime being feminist and everyone in the thread laughs at him?
>listening to anything this faggot says
This guy is 100% a certified faggot contrarian. He shat on everyone that said fucking No Man's Sky was bad and praised it as an intellectual masterpiece in an incredibly smug and condescending fashion.
he's like gaming's armond white except less interesting and more of a dumb nigger
Good things about DS2
>weapon type variety (lances, twinswords, paired great shields)
>weapon variety (some really unique weapons in the game)
>power stancing (I still can't decide whether I prefer power stancing to weapon arts. DS2 was fantastic for dual wielding almost anything with everything)
>YOU WISH TO GUARD THE BELL YOU DO? (bell covenant were probably what the forest covenant should've been)
>rat covenant (dragging a player to your world and having them deal with all the traps and roaming monsters of your world was some novel shit)
>small white soapstone (for when you want to help, but not necessarily for the full area)
>some of the best npc invasions in the series.
>god rings (best thing to help matchmaking until they implemented the password feature for bloodborne and DS3)
Ambivalent things about DS2
>moveset variety (Some weapons had fantastic movesets, even while powerstanced, others were the same as everything else. The Black Knight weapons had no excuse to be so generic for their weapon type)
>splitting Vit and Vigor and Endurance (good and bad since it'd prevent any havelflipping nonsense, so you could have high equip load, but not necessarily high stamina)
>more ring slots, more ring variety (being able to equip more kinds of rings at once for more bonuses, but different upgrade levels for multiple rings perhaps wasn't needed)
>Soul Memory. (twink prevention on one hand, but any attempt to regularly pvp at a set level eventually meant you'd be getting boned by players with several hundred levels on you and only those kinds of players, unless agape ring got involved)
>weapon upgrade paths (There were more options to make different weapons shine. Raw got several weapons that were made to benefit from its upgrade path. And then there was mundane's upgrade path)
Bad shit in DS2
>Nonsensical level design
>fucking up the initial release so badly fromsoft had to re-release it
>splitting the fucking playerbase in the process
>so contrarian he called One Man's Lie a masterpiece
Whoh, this dude is pretty hardcore.
My favorite part is how nobody who talks about DaS2 being the best will ever even acknowledge it.
i met mysteriousmrenter on gta online, never knew who he was previous to that but holy shit is he fucking insufferable. after he told us to go to his youtube page so he could gloat about his views and subscribers i also found his ED page and not too long after that he left the game
The story is all about Aldia's crazy experiments and Vendrick being fucked up by Nashandra.
The first part is mostly about the Herald sending you killing shit across the realm and in the neighborhoud so the story is mostly lore about the place you're visiting.
In the second half, you learn a lot about Vendrick and Aldia search for a cure, Nashandra cucking Vendrick and Aldia being an absolute madman, even without SotFS who show us how he turned himself into a first flame.
Iron and Ivory crowns did expends a lot on some ppints of the first part.
I like how this one video has made every DS2 lover into this stereotype that only knows how to post
>DS2 >>>> DS3
>Matt is a hack
>you didnt play the right way
