Spiderman is the most popular character from Marvel by a huge margin so it makes sense his villains are some of the most beloved, it helps that the top 3 of Goblin, Ock and Venom are all cool as fuck in their own ways.
I'm sad Goblin has yet to be in a MvC, I can only guess it's cause they didn't know how to implement the Glider but honestly I don't think it would have been that hard.

No it isn't. AA only sells semi-decently in Japan (main games only, all the spinoffs sell like shit) and it sells badly everywhere else. Megaman as an IP has always had atleast 2 reps in vs games whereas it took ages for AA to even get one in a game, it's not the same thing at all.
