Let's admit we all have fantasies like this:

Why does he have the sword if hes a mage?
fake mage

Fake post

>not making yourself buff enough with magic to use whatever weapon you want as a backup

Like any RPG ever?

If they feature magic it's always ridiculously overpowered.

>Why does he have the sword if hes a mage?

So he can defend himself should he face a foe who can't be defeated with magic.

Baldur's Gate 2 pretty much perfects the feeling of being an overpowered archmage.

What if he's not a mage? What if he's some meleecuck and that's his "what the fuck am I reading?" face?

Dragons dogma, Spell force

it's a magical sword probably

dragons dogma
lichdom battlemage
some isometric party RPG.. you could fail casting and your party members would insult you for it, i cant remember the name though, wizardy maybe

Codespells

because a wizzard who uses other weapons than spells will allways be stronger than his opponent. imagine harry potter is wielding a desert eagle in his other hand

If you notice the fire rain then it could be hes already started casting something, so he either clearly is reading it correctly OR
He is actually caught in a trap and both arms can't move from there and is being forced to read some harry/snape fanfic

Dragon's Dogma

Mages are OP in most RPGs. Are there any where they aren't?

Dragon's Dogma as a sorcerer is pretty great. Summoning meteors, tornadoes and earthquakes is a blast. Sure, it takes like 10 seconds to do it but the payoff is great.

Thats true it would be OP. He could cast some shit on the mag and make the recoil almost nothing

What games let me be a mage that doesn't use a shitty wand and spend an hour chanting to cast a spell?

Harry Potter and the Lucky Punk when

dark souls 3

I enjoyed being an evil mage in the original Fable. It doesn't take long at all to get unkillable in that game.

dota2 invoker if you git gud

Two worlds 2 lets to craft some pretty crazy and game breaking spells.

>not dota all stars carl
junior, please

Tender's transformation. Existed since and. Fucking underage faggot.

Gandalf didn't have glamdring for decoration either fucknugget.

Don't you mean Harry Dresden. Who carries a .44. And lately a lever action winchester. (Probably THE winchester in .357).

All the non magicals with their autos and ars etc make fun of him for it. He saves his ass with it often enough they should just stfu already

Tenser's. Fucking phone going back and changing shit after I've gone 20 fucking words further on

Go on

dragon age origins

Heretic/Hexen with the gauntlets of the necromancer

>Play JRPG
>Mage can only use some lightning abilities, fire abilities, and ice abilities
>late game he just does some non-elemental damage

Why are mages in JRPGs so boring?

The game uses a card system for spell effects and you can combines 6 cards. Aoe necro aura that raises anyone you kill, explosive earth pillar, invisibility shield that drains everyone around you, and some more but the game is kinda janky.

Dragons Dogma, Sorcerer class in Black Magic Online

youtube.com/watch?v=hSAEfocnU_s
Seriously, play Dragon's Dogma. Especially since you can fill your party out with other classes to protect you, or just go 4 sorcerors and rain down death everywhere.

Diablo 3
