Personally I think it's the worst 2D Zelda. It's just too slow for my taste. Oracle of Seasons and Ages are the better Capcom Zeldas.

Kinstones are an abomination of sidequests, Rather than exploring and finding treasure or stuff to do, all of it is arbitrarily blocked off. Instead of getting an item or solving a puzzle to access it, you collect stones, fuse them with random people, then get told exactly where you have to go to retrieve the treasure you unlocked. It's really not a fun way to collect heart pieces or money.
The only other things that felt like sidequests in MC were the sword scrolls, many of which are just regular sword abilities that in previous games you had automatically, and the shitty gachapon figurine machine.

I was mainly talking about the amount of time you spend between dungeuns, not really sidequests, but I do know people often dislike the zelda games like this, that have fewer dungeuns and more time in the overworld.
As for the kinestone stuff, I get it, but it did mean that every inch of the overworld had content.
