Someone who can into photography can explain better I'm sure, but the camera basically caught the light from right to left, so it caught the front of the cat around the center, and by the time it was capturing light after that, the cat had already kept running, so it missed the middle of its body. Something to do with shutter speed or something, I'm not sure.
