Partners in Time had the Shroobs. Bowser's Inside Story had Fawful and the Dark Star. Dream Team still had Antasma even if he gets betrayed near the end, but he was still a main antagonist.

I'm still mildly cautious about it being a full remake. Like, it wouldn't surprise me if it looked exactly the same, maybe with more content.
