Alright all you horror fans, what is the scariest game you've ever played?

i thought that game was kinda funny

it doesn't work for some people; the titular monster scares some while others just laugh at it.

is hat like a psychological thing? sounds to me kinda like evolution

PT, no contest. Still butthurt about Konami killing Silent Hills. Could have been the game of the fucking generation, and I'm not even a huge horror fan.

As a kid, Siren on the PS2 fucked me up watching my dad play because I couldn't bring myself to get past anything Nowadays I'd say Siren Bloodcurse takes the cake but i was able to actually beat it

i don't really know, but the design of the monster is a good example of how the east designs horror compared to the west; make the shit unnerving instead of just putting teeth, spikes and blood on it.

It's pretty hard to be scared of the liquify filter in photoshop. Ao Oni looks really goofy. Especially when the friends turn into them and they have their little sprite haircuts still on them like a cartoon.

It's a defense mechanism against disease. If you see someone walking around who looks pale and or has protrusions or other signs that they're not well your mind automatically treats them as alien and hostile. Apply to a monster and you get the basis for most eastern monster design.

Make it human, but make it different.

I honestly can't think of any. Stealth-based scary games usually startle me a couple times when I get caught, but after a few deaths any and all tension just dies.

That said though, the subtle change that happens on Nosferatu's game over screen after you die 8 times creeps me the fuck out.

What are those changes?

I'm not a huge horror fan

But I was surprised that Fatal Frame MoBW scared me pretty effectively at a few points, probably more successfully than the other titles I've played.

Like, SH2 is a better game, but not as scary to me.
