Why do people say the only way to play Smash Bros in a tournament is with items off, and only on certain stage and with certain characters not allowed? A true master should be able to win under any circumstances.

Because they're autists that think their party game is something to be taken seriously

>not falcon punching that big tiddy to watch it jiggle

items add RNG to the mix, and some characters benifit from items more than others, creating a very high variance metagame.

At the highest levels of play, it would mean a smash ball spawning just ends the game because someone like Link could just zone the opponent off of it, and then have a retardedly strong attack to secure one life from the opponent extremely easily with basically no counterplay.

I'm using link as a hypothetical, but the point stands.

Items strength depends on the character, some characters are more abusive with some items than others. I think items are fun, but they destroy competitive integrity.

Melee-fags/ Competitive-fags killed smash

>Competitive Integrity
>Smash Bros.

REALLY MAKES ME THINK

>smash tournaments regularly bring in more viewers/entrants than FGC tournaments
i guess you can't think after all

It's almost like you have to change the rules of the base game in order to make something competitive.

in tournaments i see it makes some sense, but play against friends should be whatever goes

>unless you're the brother of you best friend who ONLY plays MrGame&Watch and bounces around waiting for the smash ball to appear

I get what you're saying. Makes me glad I only play for fun.

Yeah at toysrus LMAO

You're totally retarded. It has nothing to do with how good or bad a character is with items and everything to do with the fact that they have no set spawn pattern. Items used to be legal back when I first started playing Melee (well, regionally). They were finally banned after exploding capsules spawned on someone already doing an attack and cost them the match.

It's giving a player a reward for nothing. Yes, RNG would eventually even out and the better player would win more games, but the variance would mean too many games would need to be played to achieve that balance. It's similar with the stagelist.

God I wish that was me

>certain characters not allowed
That's not a thing.

FUCK OFF WE GET A 20% DISCOUNT ON ALL AMIIBOS

>giantess
Oh baby.

That's an aspect I spaced on and a rather huge one at that.

But what I was saying is absolutely true, characters are better or weaker with various items and the RNG both of the spawn position and what spawns creates a fairly toxic metagame, where luck is as much of a factor in a win as skill.

Some characters are also undeniably better at zone control than others, so a drop that's in the middle would, to some degree, be based on character selection.

There's a lot of reasons why items are banned in comp play.

>people still complain about other people playing a game differently
Some of you people are less mature than those you call out. You don't have to play by their rules, and they don't have to play by yours.

Nigger, I am telling you the literal reason why items are banned. They were not banned for being over-centralizing. They were banned specifically for RNG reasons with spawn locations. You. Are. Wrong.

No meta even ever developed for real item play. Quit talking out of your ass. If you want something to discuss overs-centralization with, try custom moves in Smash 4.

I'm not too fond of how chaotic items have become anyway.
Especially the high amount of them that can just randomly backfire on you.
That said we usually play with smash balls on low to add a little bit of fun and flair to the match.

Is this a giantess thread yet?

If Smashbis a party game does that make Mario Kart one too?Is Splatoon not a third person shooter?

It's made by Nintendo, so yes.

Aren't certain stages banned for tournament play in Street Fighter V?

It's almost like this triggers you

It's almost like you have no actual argument anymore and so now you just have to result to insults. Thanks for playing!

wrong

Then he'll have to deal with the consequences.

Casual play isn't even as fun in the later games.

>items off, and only on certain stage and with certain characters not allowed?
I'll take the bait and just assume you have a slight mental deficiency or somehow haven't played any of the games at all. Items are banned because they're completely random and range in effectiveness from "slightly handy" to "all but guaranteed to take a stock off your opponent". Some (read: a majority) of the stages are banned because they're either easily exploitable, such as using an overly large stage to camp out a match with no possibility of reprisal, or just flat out don't work well with the game's mechanics, like stages with no bottom blast zones making recoveries and off-stage fighting a complete non-factor. As far as I know there aren't any characters that are banned, but I only know that for Sm4sh and melee.

yo I've been summoned

I'm not arguing against you literally at all.

I'm saying that there is a ton of issues with items, and character interaction is one of them, even moreso with the Smash Ball, which was only introduced AFTER items were universally banned in competitive play. I am not wrong because what I'm saying is correct under the context that character-item interaction is a balance factor that causes problem. It creates a kind of power range for every character, and depending on what items spawn where, a character's kit may gain more benifit from the item and its placement than another character's kit.

The core reason they were banned is as you said. They were objectively banned because item placement and randomized selection was causing games to come do RNG, exactly as you said.

I'm picking apart one aspect of a larger problem, and didn't really address the problem as a whole.

>not posting the colored version
At least learn how to post before you shitpost.

...

why do people care so much about how other people enjoy a game

yes it is now

nhentai.net/g/122223/

...

Link being able to zone(his mobility is shit, I have no idea why this is your example) and thus somehow use items better makes zero sense from a banning perspective. That's what I'm telling you. Your argument is shit. You can say some items are too fucking strong like says, but character strengths has no bearing in the argument because no meta was even attempted.

Is makng fetish threads in nonfetish boards despite having fetish boards a fetish itself?. Like people wjo get hard by triying to fuck in a public place without getting caught?

...

...

>Bait
Because god forbid anyone ask a legitimate question of you people

...

It is a little bit exhibitionist, but it's not like it's hurting anybody.

Last I heard of it, three of them are. One is an airplane level and it was banned due to how it can easily disorient players' perception since the background doesn't stay level and the approaching elements can be very distracting, even if you try to ignore it. One is a beach level with women wearing bathing suits, so I think that choice of banning it is to earn advertising dollars and not go through what YouTube went through. The last one is the training stage, but I don't know the particular reason why for it. The common ruleset for the game is that the stage pick is always supposed to be random and those three stages are not in the random stage rotation.

Another banned stage is Gehenna from Skullgirls. It was banned due to its macabre atmosphere with horror imagery and music. It's also taken out of the random stage rotation, though I don't think every Skullgirls tournament forces random stage pick. I believe they follow the trend of not playing Gehenna though.

Items are fun. Games should be fun. That is all

He obviously is a never played any of the games and just wants to create turmoil, he could easily google "smash banned characters" and notice that the only character to ever be banned was metaknight and in a very specific area for a very small amount of time, but he's too retarded to do that.

Yes.

>blazbaros
Oh hey, cool.

...

What the fuck is the appeal of this fetish?
I actually want to know.

Because smash isn't a fighting game

>Is this a giantess thread yet?
Nah, don't summon them.
I mean I like titty, therefore I like giant titty, but if you summon the giantess people then there'll be piss and farting and foot imprints crudely photoshopped onto a satellite image of a city and some surprisingly well drawn images of the interior of a fat chick's mouth.

God this is why I hate giant fetishists.

Presumably if you like pussy or tits, then giant pussy or giant tits allows you to dive facefirst into said pussy and tits and to envelop yourself in the glory that is pussy and tits.

At least I assume that's part of it.

The whole "I get off on being too insignificant to notice then being killed by being crushed/eaten" stuff I dunno.

this desu

user I could be real with you and go into a long detailed speech about what makes this fetish appealing to me personally but I'll but it in a blanat way for the most normies of normies would see it

giant Ass n Tits
just imagine being surrounded by them
to be in the embrace of a large woman that loves you
and all the lewd things she can do with you at the size difference

nah man I'm mostly just blue board gentle giantess stuff I've been called gts bro for posting on here

...

Bigger is better, yes?
There's a different reason for anyone to like a certain fetish, in the same way there's a different reason for anyone to like a certain food or music. There's no one central appeal.

I just go 'its a fetish, aint gotta explaing shit'.

...

Zoning: the ability to create enough positional pressure to force your opponent into specific positions or movement patterns, else they suffer damage.

I explicitly stated Link was a hypothetical example, based on his ranged tools.

>but no meta was even attempted
and this is why I'm right, specifically because we're not even arguing over the same thing. I'm arguing under the assumption that a metagame with items is inherently toxic, and far less balanced than one without, and exploring an aspect of said hypothetical metagame to explain why it is toxic. We're approaching the answer to the question 'why are items bad' very differently, but both are equally valid.

You're explaining the face value. 'they are banned because they throw games into rng'. I'm exploring the potential negitive consequences of having an items-included metagame.

>Because god forbid anyone ask a legitimate question of you people
It's clear that anyone who has played the game for more than five minutes would have a pretty good answer to those questions, and I still answered them just to be sporting about it.

>why do people care about thing
>because they autist
but then john aren't you also an autist for care about tihng??

...

...

...

...

Pretty simple. You and your friends can turn an item into 40% but a good player will turn it into multiple stocks. A lot of items break the game at high level and introduce a massive RNG element into the game. In the early days of Brawl, some nobody placed like top 2 at EVO using Rob because of items.

...

...

Captain Falcon had the right idea before this thread even started.

...

So the appeal is really just "Take X but make it bigger"? Seems like it's femdom taken to a literal grander scale though.

Generally, but there are subsets to it, like almost any other fetish.

>femdom
is some ways
it can also mix with /ss/ like based on the size scale

>Take X but make it bigger
This is one of the many appeals, yes.
>Seems like it's femdom taken to a literal grander scale though.
This is also one of the many appeals.

...

...

Reminder that r/Kappa has an agenda on Sup Forums to try and make the whole board hate Smash because it's a great competitive game as well as a casual one.
All because they think it isn't a fighting game that takes up a lot of stream time. They all go 0-2 in fighting game tournaments and are too anti-social to actually talk to people irl, so their only presence in the community is to shitpost on here and their containment subreddit.

Handing players money to rock the r/kappa tag is the only reason why they are relevant at all. It's sad.

...

...

>items off, and only on certain stage
No item and stage restrictions actually MAGNIFIES the gaps between tiers. The best characters become better and the weak characters get worse.

>certain characters not allowed
Wait what when did this happen. Sounds like house rules.

Thinking that there's a girl that's hundreds feet bigger than me makes my dick diamonds. Especially when said girl's features are huge as well, oh baby.

Now gentle or destruction, that's just a bonus for me.

...

Not him but...If items were just an option that makes some char stronger then it wouldn't be a problem, a meta would grow and we would see high tier characters un tournament : SURPRINSINGLY THE SAME WAY IT IS WITHOUT ITEMS
Having an unbalanced game/meta isn't a problem, having an unfair (bomb pop near you->throw it -> free stock) competitive game is one

was this a bait thread?
I mean I usual post in threads that are bait or get badly derailed

...

>no matter how big they are they should be getting burned/crushed/irradiated to death by the star they appear to be standing on

Does having a mediocre fetish automatically make you retarded?

it's just the background of the stage don't think too much off it

Does a fetish have to be realistic?

...

>there will never be a giant gril who needs you because she's helpless and clumsy

So is it the display of physical power that gets you off?

what was the idea here
there was no way she could fit in that car
