Welp, thats it then.
After the shitshow that was Conquest, I was already cautious about their next game.
This is definately the nail in the coffin.

They're probably thinking they already did the same thing with the two biggest games in the franchise's history.

I'd actually pay for this desu. Fire Emblem Fates was the biggest Fire Emblem cuck in history and it was a fucking disaster. But I'm not paying for it. My 3DS is hacked to shit. Play through chapter 1 of Echoes. Good game.

If it helps, the gameplay is several times worse than Conquest. Maybe even worse than Birthright. I found myself not really enjoying it that much.

I hated the Fates games because the story was retarded and I felt like I was getting legit brain damage from reading the characters dialogues, it was so stupid.
The gameplay was good, but I cant enjoy it that way.
So if the gameplay was a bit worse, but I get a somewhat good story with characters for it, I'd be okay with it.

I played the Japanese game with menu patch so I can't really speak for the story. Although I hear it interests some people.

Hmm? Are you saying the gameplay of Echoes is better than Conquest's? Because I wasn't really getting that impression from Echoes. I won't say I didn't enjoy it at all, but it didn't really feel fulfilling.

From a gameplay standpoint, certainly. Not so much on the story, but everyone has already lambasted it plenty for that.

As for Awakening it was OK. I haven't played it since it first released so I can't really recall too much of my experience besides "it was OK".

Just for posterity my favourite game is probably Radiant Dawn.

FE9 kind of had crummy animations I guess. Apparently the Maniac mode was also damage sponge central. I can't speak for it myself since I haven't experienced it first hand.

Gaiden has always been widely considered the worst fe game in every aspect even after awakening came out and grandpas got buttflustered about it. Gaiden is a literal chore to play through with a sub par story and characters that have 4 lines of dialogue max before becoming anime chess pieces.

Actually I dislike it because the maps are shit. And the novelty of exploring dungeons wears off quickly. And because fucking mage animations are mediocre, while the melee animations are way better.

Echoes expands a shit ton on Gaiden's story, giving it actual proper world building and actually developed characters. One of the few games with a least offensive cast and setting.
